Just saying, if we can land an actual hit on Morghur all of his magic effects get turned off.

I really doubt that we can.

I also doubt Branulhune is up the task of shutting down such potent chaos mojo.

Also people keep saying he's died, but almost all of those were to fucking Arielle of the Wood Elves.

Who is herself a Demigod.

... We're going to use that nut to lead him around into various tactically unsound positions aren't we? Always just out of range of his FuckYouOrder aura, a hint of what seems like Ariel's power, always teleporting away before he can see that it's really just some stupid human.

Especially here. If were fighting him somewhere opposed to the dark gods like Athel Lorien, or hell even somewhere neutral that would be one thing. This is Hell's Doorstep.

That nut is a standard wood elf item, it's not Ariel's heart or something.

I think everybody is way overhyping Morghur and working themselves into a frenzied panic.

He's been killed by the Wood Elves pincushioning him multiple times, so he ain't immune to ranged fire like some are saying for all that he might have some protection. He gets offed with some regularity. If we have to fight him, it's far from certain doom as y'all keep screaming about.

Yeah, but in this case, we are absolutely guaranteed to be permanently and irrevocably fucked if we miscast.

We're done here.

We are turning around.
I think with Krag's Belt we'll actually be relatively ok? Like... I don't think we CAN get turned into a chaos spawn so long as we have that belt. The belt turns any such dhar infused attempt into fire, and makes us immune to fire. I'm not entirely sure that his aura could effect us at all so long as we've got that belt. I admit, I have not the slightest clue how long the belt could possibly last against the likes of Morghur but Kragg the Grim IS a thousand year old Living Ancestor of the Dawi and he made us a really really nice rune belt. If Morghur tries to cast on us he'd get his mind blown out from the belt. Which would probably be regenerated in some weird chaosy way but still. We're surprisingly well off defense-wise against him. The rest of his army seems like more of a threat to us than he is personally, again assuming the belt works.

Do we know how far away 12" on the tabletop is in more real world terms?

Cuz I dug out the Beasts of Change 6th ed. and it seems like between 12" (where no missiles hit him) and close combat (where everyone takes a Strength 4 hit with no armor save) seems to be the sweet spot.

Or, better idea.

We can just turn around, try and drop a Melkoths because since we've gotten past the initial roll, its now just fiendishly complicated, and thus trivial, and then we fucking bailllll.

So here's the thing. I don't know how unbeatable or not Morghur really is, but I'm just not at all interested in testing Kragg's belt against that mutation aura. Fantasy may not be 40k, but one thing it shares is that mutation is a death sentence. Even if we do take him out, one slip of that warp aura past our defenses, and the entire trajectory of this quest is irrevocably derailed. We'd never be able to show our face in the Empire again, at the least. I'm just not prepared to risk it.

Yeah, he gets offed in Athel Loren under the eye of its demigods. If the Wild Hunt shows up before the next update I'll consider fighting him. This is his home ground.

The next update isn't gonna change anything.

Unless Morghur turns out to be an elaborate illusion or something, he's still just straight up beyond us.

Alright. Now we know what the Balrog of Dum looks like, and yes, it is considerably worse than an Exemplarius the Bloodthirster.

That being said.

First we need to discover what the fuck is going on. Are dwarfs dead, is the Waystone corrupted, under assault or something third, who are the local players, what are they trying to achieve?

Discovering why Morgur is here would also be preferable.

After that, and unless we manage to catch any luckly break, we can start retreating.

No, he still fights the likes of Ariel and Orion and doesn't immediately fucking die. So that immediately at least an order of magnitude beyond us at out absolute best.

This is hubris.

Give it up.
From reading the articles on him he actually dies whenever he fights them.
He's been killed by Ariel and Orion, by Durthu, by those Herald-of-Ariel twins and for some of them more than once.

His big deal is his ultra-corruptive nature, not his personal combat-prowess.

Well I can't wait to see what comes next. Bravo, boney

I'm not willing to risk it, at all.

We should leave, Dum is Dead.

I disagree, boring is boring afterall!
Dude! Clearly this is all your fault for saying boring is boring, so Boney gave us something not boring at all!!!

No but seriously, I'd have agreed with you if I'd been around much on the forums between updates and yet dang, this is some seriously scary stuff going on. I hope there is a runelord around somewhere. If so, they might actually be able to do something.

@BoneyM i hate to ask this but... are you currently working on the next update or is there going to be a break? It's just that this is a pretty big cliffhanger, and I'm wondering if I should just go away for awhile to process this or wait on tenterhooks for more information.
