More like we saved the VIP because anyone who isn't a hero is probably better off in these slave markets than the Chaos Wastes. Here there is at least the chance of a quick death.
Yeah, sure, "you're better of as chaos dwarf slaves than as free people in a heavily armored convoy", i'm sure the slaves we leave for a lifetime of abuse will be super grateful.
But hey, maybe they're lucky and get sacrificed to some daemon instead of suffering in the slave pits. :V
This is like, half a step up from going to a slave market to buy a suitable grateful and loyal apprentice that someone suggested earlier.

Vote is now open! Voting for the Arm and the acorn because I'm pretty damn certain that the arm is the actual Hand of God, an Old One gifted by the slann Mazadmundi to the saurus oldblood Kroq Gar, and the acorn is from the Oak of Ages in Athel Loren, neither of which I want accessible to Chaos-aligned factions.

The arm sizing is throwing people off because they think saurus warriors are bigger than they are - they're about six to eight feet tall. Skinks are just smol.

Buying everything because I think it's all useful and interesting, and will lead to cool opportunities further down the line. Still in two minds about the slave halls, but I suspect the thread is strongly going to vote against it anyway.

It boils down to what's easiest for Mathilde to live with; turning her back on the halls and ignoring them, or entering and saving one or two people. I'm honestly not sure what I'd do in that situation—it's easy and convenient to ignore evils when you're not faced with them, but would facing them and being impotent be better?

Grey Wizards are supposed to be able to make hard choices, but I'm not sure Mathilde can make this choice.

We already know this a place of horrors, no good to be done by looking at them.

[x] MEAT: Yes
Hopefully we won't have to eat it but we need the reserve, it's why we came here.

Pannoramia might have fun with it.

This can probably be set against the library budget.

Are we planning to buy Demgriffs for any slaves we free? Buying large numbers of slaves means they can't keep up and would not fit in the wagons.

So, to punctuate on the two really controversial items:

- The Arm has been pretty solidly identified as a Lizardman item. It's not tainted or bad juju, on the contraty, if it really is one, this is likely some Grade A magic item that we are getting for an absolute steal of "it's volume in solid gold". Could be especially useful if it's the Burning Gaze item. We do have two Golds very close to us.

- The Acorn, on the other hand, could be a lot of things. It could be an Acorn of Ages, yes. But it could also be, say, from Laurelorn, which is by far the least nutty of wood elves. Someone also pointed out a magic future-seeing tree. Point is, there are a lot of magical trees around, and while a thousand gold is a lot of money, this is also a apparently a lot of magic.

For "it will spawn a X army!", I have to ask: where are those armies now? It's not going to magically summon a hundred thousand angry peeps on our doorstep by itself.

The more worrisome one in that regard might actually be the Acorn if it really is the Acorn of Ages, but even the nuttiest of elves wouldn't even deign say "give it to us or suffer the consequences!" when yelling at K8P's gates. More reasonably, it could be quite a diplomatic coup.

Or we can use if for our own ends as well, as I said, if there isn't an army looking for it now, it's unlikely to spawn one unless we advertise it.

"Have you brought any of the following goods to Uzkulak: bound Daemons, precious stones or metals from Nehekhara, any seed, bud, fruit, or cutting from Athel Loren, unshielded warpstone, spherical devices made of brass, Vampire body parts, any item created or possessed by the Skaven Clan Pestilens, gilded skulls made of black bone, anything from the Temple-City of Zlatlan, any mummified bodies of large, frog-like beings, unshielded wyrdstone, any kind of projectile capable of moving on its own, any of Kadon's Scrolls of Binding, golden whistles, instruments stringed with unicorn hair, keys made of crystal, or any sort of stone that glows with a green light?"
Who knew Chaos Dwarves would have legitimate Border Control agents? What a great list of items too. I'm curious if you're banned from bringing these items in, or of you just have to pay a fee if you do.

I am torn about our purchase options. The nut and arm are completely superfluous and expensive, but could be interesting to study. There is also the argument that purchasing them removes them from the hands of these evil people.
