Morathi is only slightly less dangerous than her son and has the favor of Chaos on top of it. I would not suggest even contemplating taking her on in the next few centuries at least.
Well, yes, but she doesn't have a super armor life-support system literally fused to her skin, and presumably has to sleep sometime, right? Though I do recall something about her being a seer, so maybe not. Any other really important dark elves we could murder?

@BoneyM, Realms of Sorcery has temporary runes, which are like normal runes except they're way quicker to make at the cost of only lasting 1 minute or 1 use. Are temporary runes a thing in Divided Loyalties? If so, how much do they cost? I'm thinking that depending on the price they'd be worth getting for our guns.

While they would be a thing that exists, I'm not a fan of anything expendable like that because it increases the amount of bookkeeping I need to do.

  1. Morathi is an elf so I don't think she actually sleeps, it's more a sort of reverie or trance. Also you can assume she is at least and equal of any modern elven arch-mage save perhaps Teclis so that includes foresight yes.
  2. On the important dark elves we are just going to see who the Shadow Warriors are going after.

Waaaay late, but while I support the option of just letting Qrech lives the rest of his life peacefully, if Mathilde still wants to get information out of him the best option is asking after anti-Dawi Zhar/Hobgoblin tactics. Since it's info that I don't think can be used against the Under-Empire and can still be used against its enemies Qrech probably won't have a problem sharing it.

I mean, such a shoddy piece of work- a single-minute Rune?- wouldn't withstand even trivial exposure to Kragg Disapproval Field, so that's a perfectly sound reason to exclude them in our locality. :V
Deep in the heart of Karag Lhune, Kragg grimaced at the Rune he had just struck. A shoddy job, it would barely last a century or two before beginning to fade. He resisted the urge to throw it back into the crucible; this was only needed for a single task, and in these dire times such shortcomings had to be accepted.

How does getting runes work? I don't think there's a master list of runes and rune costs, plus there's runes in Divided Loyalties that don't show up anywhere else. For a marksdwarf pistol a rune of grudges and rune of gun silencing would be great, but how much do they cost? Is there a rune that silences gun shots?

I'm pretty sure the answer isn't 'ask the GM about each and every thing' because that would get tedious for him very quickly. Do we just vote broadly for what we want in a plan and then he deducts whatever he ends up thinking the cost should be? Or maybe we do something else?

[X] Empress Heidi Haupt-Anderssen
[X] Magister Patriarch Algard

Either language heist ranald headpats or wizard headpats. I'd be happy with either.

So who wants to bet this is the one known as "Heidi"?

I kinda want to give it to her so she can troll the Emperor with it. For example:

Luitpold enters bedroom after long day of politics, sees his wife in bed.

"Hello dear. New book?"

"Oh yes. Dear Mathilde gave it to me and it's proving quite an interesting read."

"Oh." Luitpold grimaced as he glanced to the bookshelf beside her containing... questionable reading.

"Oh no dear, this one is more academic than the usual. I think you might even be interested in it!"

"Oh?" Luitpold brightened. "Well what's it called then?"

"Queekish."

I'd almost suggest the Empress Heidi to present this as a grand heist of the language of the Children of the Horned Rat, on behalf of mankind and Dawi alike, via the power of Ranald the Deceiver. But, I get the feeling the thread won't go along with it, because they would have no confidence Heidi can be trusted to fence the language for us, and I suspect that such an option more or less means further empowerment from Ranald and further empowering Ranald, at the cost of putting Ranald in the crosshairs of the Horned Rat.

But it is thematically appropriate on a metaphysical level, since we did steal Queekish with the power of Mathilde's patron god.

We could mark Ranald as a contributor? 'Queekish, by M. Grey and G. Ranald.'

I'm still waiting for a skink to arrive in k8ps one day holding up a sign saying 'please give rat-book, will give gold'.

Considering Slann, I imagine instead we'll just open the door to our inner sanctum some day and find a massive solid gold dinosaur statue sitting there, plus a small note saying 'thanks for the book'.

It's enough to say what sort of effect you're after and how many favours you're spending. Gun runes in particular is the bleeding edge of Runesmithing so you'd pretty much be handing it over to a particularly radical Zhufbar Runesmith and seeing what happens.

Ah, no chance of Master Rune of Kragg the Grim for a bona fide hand cannon then. :p

Actually, I doubt that Heidi is the Imperial Spymaster.
She's probably entirely satisfied living as the Empress to seek additional duties, and being the Spymaster is a massive job.

I can certainly see her helping out her husband, and having intrigue pet projects, but having a full occupation as a Reikland/Imperial Office Spymaster?

Nah.

First I was a bit disappointed that the latest chapter was so short. Then I noticed that I was still sleeping.

So. Bathroom, breakfast and then I'll read the actual chapter instead of the one my subconscious made for me.

Honestly Heidi isn't the Spymaster unless the person who was Spymaster back when she was still faking being a vampire has died or retired or something.
