Er, do you mean the Hellstorm Rockets there? The Hellcannon is something rather different.

As far as I can tell, in general canon sources, the Empire has been in a general technological stasis for seemingly centuries. The main source of this seems to be the old Mordheim game, which basically had adventurers having the same level of gunpowder weaponry as modern Warhammer, except it's set around 2000 IC.

At the same time, GW didn't set out to build a fully-consistent and realistic universe (if they did, they failed that one right out of the gate) they set out to make a wargame. Which, understandably, is what they focused on.

In regards to quest canon, things may well be less stasis-y.

As others have said, we're the most influential advisor to the the king of a Karak. There's exactly 9 of those in the world, and we're a very big reason why that number isn't 8.

The Grey Order is not going to remove us from our post.

If we were, like, the advisor to a minor noble, they might think we were wasting our talents and suggest we move on to bigger things. But Elector Counts, Dwarf Kings? That's power and influence right there. That's not something you throw away. Mathilde just doing her job is more than enough reason for her to stay. The Grey Order cares about making sure the Empire, and Order in general, is doing well. As long as what's good for Karak 8 Peaks is good for the Empire, Mathilde is in a very good position.

Actually, I would argue that the college will want us to stay MORE if the interests of K8P and the Empire becomes divided. Its just that we'll have a ton of problems of the titular kind.
The title of the quest is divided loyalties, and we'll haveproblems because they'll order us to sabotage, thus making our loyalties extremely divided.

Mathilde herself torched a bunch of books not immediately related to the "College of Necromancy" after decapitating Alkharad. Granted, it was the best thing to do at the time, but that just means it was the least bad action, not an actually good one.

Eh, not really even close to being the same thing. This is closer to hard formating a computer of the enemy that has important millitary info rather than panic burning knowlege because mindless desctruction, or because its cold, or because you are a fanatic, or because you are bad at budgeting, or because you like censorship.

See, my first thought when you said this was our many, many titles like Dame, Loremaster, Thane, and Magister/Lord Magister.

Ha! Finally caught up, if the vote is not closed I would like to vote
[x] Journeywoman Panoramia

because all of the interactions with her have become absolutely hilarious, and maybe we can convince her that using the fires of hell for gardening is romantic or something.

A Total Warhammer trailer where the elves DON'T get their shit pushed in ? What madness is this ? :p
Look, they were fighting a fat goblin, there's a limit for how weak you can be. Oh Abel, I've been waiting for a Grom the Paunch LL for so long~

... Actually, when was Grom the Paunch from? Going off the ever-accurate Warhammer Wiki, his Waaagh started in 2410. Which puts him in Mathilde's past, but there's a possibility that he's still around.

Let's have Mathilde conclusively deal with Warboss Birdmuncha before charging off at another one. "His body was never found"--yes, we all know where that leads to, doesn't it?

I do seriously want to see another grombrindal look-in, if only for dissonance in how amazingly radical and successful we are. :)

Quick question to the thread: can I get any volunteers to do quick omake?

I'm probably going to do Soizic's perspective over the weekend, but I'd love to see two or three other perspectives! Continuances of that ranger one, or the Beseigers? I think it would be a cool thing to pull the thread together and do some new content during Boney's sabatical.

Especially a spider perspective. Dead gods, someone please do a We's narration of the final taking off Karak Eightpeaks....

I disagree. Those books weren't military intelligence. They were educational books containing research, instructions on multiple levels, interesting trivia, and who knows what else. And the enemy whose "computer" it would be was already dead. And Mathilde is fanatically anti-necromancy and pro-humanity and is a big fan of censoring any information on how to imitate the forces of Destruction.

Her explicitly stated motive was the fact that some necromancer from the school could still be alive and secure them, becoming a big threat, though, otherwise she would leave them for the college or Roswita to sift through.
