[X] [WE] Hunt the Mountains
The sheer cliffs, gloomy valleys and dark caves of the mountains are no obstacle to the We, and there's enough wildlife in the surrounding mountains to keep the We fed. Though it means they wouldn't be feeding on enemies of the Karak, it could provide an early warning of any new neighbours moving into the area.
I've been convinced to support this. It's the option that preserves the most of the We's culture, which is important to me, and it means that they're not totally dependant on the Karak, which encourages fair dealing with them in the future.
Beyond that, it means that they're actively providing a useful service by being scouts, which the dwarves will appreciate. It's a very "play fair" option, and so far playing fair with the We has paid off.
[X] [BOON] I know just what to spend it on...
I'm a fan of the Great Library idea, and that's not really a use of the boon that benefits from waiting. If we start sooner, it'll be finished sooner, and in fact if we do it during the next few turns we'll be able to offload a lot of the excavation process to the KaK labourers.
Filling the library out with books will take a while, of course, but there's no reason to think that even in the current financial state Belegar can't afford 2000 gold a year or so as a library budget.
[X] [ROOM] Vault
To keep safe your wealth, your secrets, and your miscellaneous esoterica.
[X] [ROOM] Shrine to Ranald
The room where you mugged Mork with Him is all well and good, but something convenient and private might be nice.
[X] [ROOM] Guest Room
For when you have visitors; can fit three comfortably, or up to six if enough of them are on good terms with each other.
These are the three choices I feel most compelled by - none of the others particularly strike me.
A private vault is of course very useful to us and our growing collection of secrets, a shrine to Ranald is all but mandatory after how he pulled through for us last turn, and a guest room is very practical.
I wouldn't mind the landing pad, but some part of me would always complain that we could have had a
better landing pad if we waited for a balcony option instead.
[X] [LIBRARY] Linguistics (Dwarf Antiquarian), The Eonir of Laurelorn (Imperial Extensive & Esoteric, Dwarf Extensive), Waystones (Imperial Extensive, Dwarf Extensive)
I'll be sticking with an existing library plan to avoid vote splitting, and I've never been one to pinch pennies on books.
[x] [COLLEGE] 5 favors for a full translation of the Cathayan books
Mystery box! It could even be a boat! More seriously, we have to spend at least 2 Favors to check out what this is in broad strokes, and if it's valuable we'd end up having to spend another 5 favors for a full translation anyway.
Better to just pay the full cost up-front to get it done and over with.
[X] [DWARF] Have a Grandmaster Engineer have a go at the Stirland Repeater - 8 favors
We're swimming in Dwarf Favor, so if we can improve the overall firepower of the Empire with that even a little, it's well worth it.
So combined, that's:
[X] [WE] Hunt the Mountains
