They would be in Karaz-a-Karak, so no.
Hmmm, so we'll have to heal the rift between Belegar and Thorgrim or at least do enough for the dwarves so that we aren't associated with Belegar specifically. Hmmm. Something to think about then. The chance to study what may be an elven great artifact might be worth it. It'd be worth even more if we can leverage that into favor with the elves somehow.

I'm leaning towards peacemaker now for the battle pick. It's very diplomacy heavy with Xeno-Affinity and Polyglot, but that may not be such a bad thing.

I must admit, I've become enthralled by the idea (that I've had) for Mathilde to become basically the Vanguard of the College, always pushing further and further afield, giving aid to allies of the Empire and become a bane to her enemies. Becoming a beacon of the heights which human mage-arts can reach. [E: So basically an endorsment for Polyglot+Xeno-affinity]

Not sure i see the point if its made by high magic its outside of knowledge range to properly understand until we do something like ulgu tongs research.
Ulgu tongs is what we need to control other winds. To study them we need windsage. We had options to study our enchanted items from the other winds before. In any case, High Magic would also include Ulgu and may well give us insights needed to learn ulgu tongs.

@BoneyM the xeno affinity trait has me wondering what exactly you consider not part of the old world, as im not seeing on deeper reflection where it would be useful arent the world edge mountains part of the old world? Would this mean if we visit tilea or estalia that it wouldnt be useful?

[ ] The great library of Karak Eight Peaks

so, I know that I'm the one who came up with this one, but I'll try to defend why people should vote for it.

The library is low key one of the most valuable things in the whole of K8Ps and is deff the most valuable thing we own, And we have spent a lot of our time on it. it is in fact the project we have spent the most time on.

And more importantly, this one represents our growth as a wizard and a scholar, that we are one of if not the most educated and knowledgable humans in this part of the world. and this trait means people around this part of the world, from high to low are starting to recognise that. and not just the people around us or under us.

That what we think matters, and that they should listen to us when we speak, and even come to us when they are seeking knowledge.

that's Authority, and the Gandalf kind at that.

Old World humans are Empire, Kislev, Bretonnia, Tilea, Estalia, Marienburg, and Border Princes.

Hmm. So to get mileage out of it we need to visit ulthuan and other far flung places, i suppose it would help with diplomancing nehekarans...

I want to pick other, flashier Traits just as much as anyone, but please don't use "we can get it later" as an argument. It's giving me an aneurysm.

It's a nonsense argument. Yes, we can (probably) get it later, but there will always be other traits to distract people. Mathilde is flashy, she does flashy things and unlocks flashy traits. So if we accept "it can be picked later" as an argument, we can keep pushing it back forever. It is disingenuous to try and convince anyone using this logic, because just because it *can* be picked later has almost no relation to whether or not it *will*.

If people want Collegiate, they should vote for it as quickly and assertively as they can. It's the only way they can be sure to get it, after all.
I apologize about making you feel this way. In this particular case however, I was talking to people who were thinking about the trait's late game use where I think it's very justified to say "If we don't need it now, why grab it now?"

Anyway, I'll drop it since that wasn't a major argument on my side anyway.

The mechanical bonuses behind General of Fog just don't seem to be that useful since we don't lead armies all that often. But it's so thematic...

Once ran into a Quest that delayed picking up a Trait, that everybody agreed that we should definitely get at some point, for over a hundred in-game turns.

I may have developed a trauma.
The thread then decided to not actually use the trait for IIRC at least 25 turns before they did so by accident

Also dwarves, halflings, the We, Dragons possibly, ogres, greenskin*, skaven**, potentially giant eagles and possibly other races I don't know or can't recall. I do wonder how it interacts with daemon, ghosts and gods though that might be too much to expect of this trait.

*convincing an orc to fight another orc is a valid strategy.
**As is convincing a skaven to betray another skaven.

EDIT: I wonder if we could convince the orcs of Karak drazh to attack the Da Howlaz or vice versa. :drevil:

I'm a fan of Polyglot. Narratively, many cultures coming together to create something bigger than the sum of its parts has been an recurring theme of the K8P expedition. Mathilde seeking more information from other cultures would be building on that tendency in what I think is a satisfying way that ties into the effort she's already put into assembling a multi-lingual library.

In the short term, it'll directly help with translating Queekish and learning Anoqeyån, so it'll have some guaranteed benefits, and it benefits us most either in a cosmopolitan trade hub (as K8P will undoubtedly be), or while traveling to see strange and distant lands - both of which I'd very much like Mathilde to do, so it encourages the story to go down paths I personally find interesting.

I won't vote for anything but removing Disdain for Sigmar for personal, not just because I don't like it, but because narratively speaking this is a great time to get rid of it.

Nothing else would mark Mathilde's character development better than truly internalizing Belegar's lesson: Holding grudges is not worth it.

Some trait ideas:
Battle
When in doubt...: You would have never had the confidence to attack to boldly if you didnt have the utter trust in your allies ability to hold onto your gains. You will have to leave that behind if you ever change your job, so you should absorb all you can during the rest of your stay here and try to aquire that strength.
Bonus to defense when you have a moment to prepare. Allows spell creation within this theme.
Loremaster
Extravagant: A lavish library, access to as many dwarfsh craftsmen as you require, the license to ask for the help of the greatest living runelords if required... Many will call you spoiled, but arent you simply making the most out of the resources you have been given, just like everyone else?
Bonus to rolls if what she is marshaling towards the problem earns Mathilde jealous stares.
Personal
Pokerface: So many of your strategems only worked because all your enemies assumed that the dwarves wold be mere passive observers. There is a lesson to be learned here.
Bonus to giving of a nonthreathening impression and to hiding your intentions.
Eshin Rivalry/Some snappier name: You never encountered that one Assassin again, but that and your observations of the rest of that ilk still left behind a lastingimpression.
Bonus to fighting against other sneaky fellows and to rolls trying to improve your craft in that regard.
Bold: You probably shouldnt be quite this casual about commanding Kings, chatting with Dragons and giving Kragg the Grim high-fives.
Bonus to social rolls when other people would be intimated.

Probably something that marks us as the one who recaptured Karak Eight Peaks - The Queen of the Silver Depths.
Hoping to cut out the middle man and get the title 'Queen of the Silver Depths' eventually.

... Platonically of course, ha ha
To actually comment on the update, I'm super concerned but also somewhat excited about Birdmuncha getting away.
I mean, it's potentially very bad to have a greenskin that zoggin' big and clever lurking in the area, let alone in the Karak, but a significant, named and non-canon enemy we personally encountered is pretty damn cool to have.

I guess we can hope for a leadership challenge from Rotgut to lead to a civil war in Karak Drazh, but I kinda expect Birdmuncha to be a whole thing to deal with now.
Rotgut takes command of Karak Drazh, Birdmuncha continues to be at large (geddit)

As much I dislike Mathilde having the trait thematically, Assassin is probably the best battle trait on the list for what she's most likely going to be doing with the Elves-that being killing Dark Elves. (I dislike it thematically because I don't want her to be able to put into the mental box of "Oh, she's just a magical assassin.", plus some of the connotations of being an assassin and so on.)
