Well, the most basic thing I can think of is grabbing every book we can on Clan Eshin. Maybe request an action dedicated to studying every scrap of info Mathilde can find on Eshin to find out if there are any known countermeasures or weaknesses in their Assassins' techniques.
Next turn we can pick up Skaven (Dwarven Esoteric), which will complete our library of Skaven info until we start getting Queekish sources about Skaven. I am pretty sure the library mechanic is not fine-grained enough that individual skaven clans are represented as topics in their own right.
Or tips to make us better assassins.
"Clan Eshin Pro Tip: collapse your ribcage, allowing you to wriggle through any opening through which you can fit your head."
I suspect a lot of Eshin techniques are not really applicable to us, and there are a lot of things we can do that Eshin can't. The Grey College is a great place to learn assassination and sabotage techniques that make use of our unique capabilities.

Johann already expressed a desire to research the gas masks used by (Skryre?), We should go raid them next turn, use the duck to help him with the Ratling and we got our mask in 2 turns.

Stuff that's been seriously floated for us to do: Continue the Queekish project, resume the AV project, train Wolf, build temple to Ranald. Obviously we're not going to devote a lot of AP to all of that at once, but is that the general gist of our possibility set?
Project Cartography also gets a lot of attention, though I don't favor it just now.

Getting our enchanting up to FC. We're going to make new robes as soon as the We silk becomes available, because two whole points of armour save difference is fairly enormous, so it would behoove us to study enchanting in advance for best odds on incorporating the mastery trait. Also comes in handy for staff enchanting later on, though that's further down the road.

Also, IIRC there was one thing left before we could write the book on the We, so maybe that? I don't see it winning, cool as it would be to have an actual book with our name on it, but it's the other thing that comes to mind as a possibility.

It's a pipe dream within a pipe dream, but there were actions pertaining to learning to control our shadows which I wanted to look at but...

The we are there to be researched at any point baring horrible failure so we can do that later the mist form is not likely to ever be seen again I want to get it out of the way. Plus if we are lucky we might get a new spell or insight out of it.

hmm, so we have magic 8 and not staff. if we manage to get 1 more point, and get a staff, we could be rocking magic 10 when we get serious. We might want to learn pit of shades at some point.

Regarding the library vote coming up, I'm doing some planning and, while we don't have our assignment from Belegar yet, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

It's rather more minor, and would obviously be on top of any 'work' expenses, but i do still want to eventually get mathilde the first 50gc purchase of dwarven romance novels to round out her collection a bit more, so that would be one way to influence my vote :V

Thanks. Mostly I'm just trying to figure out what book topics we might gain benefit from. Obvious candidates:
  • Skaven (making use of our 2 dwarf favour stipend to max this bonus out)
  • Anatomy (Imperial Esoteric just costs money and helps Max translate)
  • Chaos Mutants & Beastmen (to give us some reference material for the "AV on living things" experiment). Our library currently doesn't cover these at all -- I'd be fine just picking up Imperial Extensive in each.
  • Maybe Physics, for states of matter research for the AV transformations? It came up in the narrative last time, though we didn't roll for it. Might be useful, but I could leave it out.
I don't think further sources on Ranald/Familiars are useful; when we set up the shrine, it was an unmodified piety roll, and I imagine that teaching our Good Boy to talk can make use of our Esoteric Canines. We're not gonna start an enchanting project next turn, and we already have +7 Arthropods on the We.

Anything else I'm missing? Any objections to included topics? Anyone? Bueller? @TotallyNotEvil?

Not sure I agree. Mathilde has managed to sidestep her comparatively low DIP by being a Big Darn Hero with pretty much every character.
Better diplomacy would help with negotiations and such but for politics her actions speak a lot louder than her words.

Huh, this seems to be a trend amongst human characters in warhammer quests on this site.

Shit diplomacy, but they are such massive HEROES OF THE EMPIRE, that they can just spend prestige like mad to make up for it and be almost entirely unaffected.

If we're going to research the gem we just looted we should probably get some books on gems, gem-craft, and ideally the interaction between gems and magic. Seems like something both humans and dwarves would have at least something on and needing to reinvent the wheel for figuring out the straight physical components of it would be a pain. Obviously not something we need to do now, but something to consider.

[X] Investigate the aftermath of the Empire's campaigns against the Skaven in Nuln and Ubersreik.
[X] Kragg, who's begun to be seen around the Karak once more, indicating he might be finishing his study of the rune-axe you and Johann found.

Via practice or instruction? We have plenty of College Favour to pay for lessons. But we could also just grind out Robes and sell the failures (for money or Favours) till we level.
Lessons, no doubt. Actually getting instruction is much easier than learning ourselves.

There's a lot that can be done with FC enchanting. In a way, we are wasting our raw magic strenght (and the sort of itens we might make with reliable FC spells) by letting our talent linger.

Illusion, for is damn near boundless in use: enchant doors to look like patches of wall, traps to look like the floor, guns to be silent, people to be scent-less, and on and on.

Oh yeah, regarding our shiny new magic stat.

@BoneyM, since Mathilde's magic is so high, that means the easier spells aren't even rolled for, correct? Does that mean that we've lost the chance to master them like we did with Aethyric Armour and Blessed Hands?

It's less about spell-casting crits specifically and more about instances in which it would be appropriate for such a thing to occur, I think. So we'd never run into it just casting the spell, probably, but if we were trying to do something else that involved the spell (using air stepping to bravely run away, for example), and we crit then, then it might be thematically fluffed in such a way that we could achieve mastery.

For example, we were already in that category for Aethyric armor, but we Mastered it anyways because we cast it while flat out sprinting away from those track-running goblins.

I'm definitely looking at Aetheric Vitae as our next project. It's either that or Queekish IMO and for the latter I think it's better to deepen our bond with Qrech so that we can get the most out of him. It's probably better to spend the time just interacting with him and/or learning stuff like anti-skaven or anti-chaos dwarf tactics from him.

Turning all of our actions and subordinates on the Vitae for a turn or two is exactly what we need to finish it or at least investigate every aspect of it. Kragg is currently free as well so we have all of our ducks in a row. Also, after dropping Waagh and Peace I would love to collect all the Aetheric Vitae information and write a book. Then drop it like a bomb on the college community. It reminds me of Kragg flexing on Thorek. You think that was all I had? Have another one.

Then we do the same with a comprehensive guide to skavendom the year after that.

Climb up high enough in power or responsibility and lack of strength will soon turn to weakness. As a Grey Wizard, we can cheat and hide and run from it as far as we can, but inevitably, Diplomacy will happen (especially if we actually achieve Lord Magister-hood) and we'll be caught flat footed because BoneyM stated that Learning only comes to play once Mathilde has time to prepare her speech. And you can't really wield Branulhune at a high-society party or a cease-fire negotiation. Well, you can but then it'd turn fun.

I'm not saying spend AP to train Diplomacy next turn, but putting it on the Never pile might come back to bite us.
Sure, but two points:
1) The higher we climb, the more pressing and important things are competing with that.
2) And the higher we climb, the less that sort of thing actually matters, as it's easy to excuse the ultra-competent multi-disciplinary expert her eccentricities than it is to excuse a journeywoman's. Especially when she is superbly well connected.

Compare to an action spent in raising Diplo by one or two to, say, Advanced Asassination.

And Mathilde's specialization of knowing how people think means she can always bluff.

I don't really think these would be very relevant.

We could use book so on Powerstones and Enchanting.

Huh. Was this during the Expedition?

And complete Mathilde's transformation to the min-maxed murderhobo-y next-coming-of-Nagash super-Matriarch who is slightly uncomfortable with everyone that isn't a wizard. :V

Diplo has got less urgent since Kazrik turned out good at humans but I agree we should do a course or two at some point. A bit of polish is professional development for a royal advisor.
