Holy f... yeah, we got near all our favors back with that one

Question about the "papers to be written" spoiler, is the one on Waaagh energy supposed to be there, or is it the paper we just wrote and should be removed?

Waaagh energy and magic witnessed during the Expedition. (FADING)

Or did we write a paper on counterspelling Orc magic, which is different from just observations of Orc energies?

Mathilde basically wrote a paper on her Waaaghbane trait, using a few individual events as examples. A full paper on all the Waaagh magic witnessed on the campaign is separate.

@BoneyM, when does Max's Law of Logic spell comes into play? I noticed that he didn't get the bonus from it, so I wonder in what situations is it applicable?

Or did it get cast in the background and just didn't give any actual dice bonus?

Well, the good thing is that Belegar and Dreng are actually receiving useful intel from our prisoner now, which is good because they subsidized the jail.

Max and Mathilde trying to crack Queekish as Max tries to translate the book, and Mathilde keeps bringing him more translated papers to try and help, and the two of them discussing Queekish -- that might be an interesting Social Action to add.

Added:
[ ] Max, during the few breaks in the silence as the two of you worked on Queekish in the Room of Serenity.

[ ] Francesco Caravello, proud leader of the Undumgi and possible future Thane.
I just want to meet him, especially since we gave him that Torc of Scary Fire as his symbol of leadership.
[ ] Sir Ruprecht Wulfhart, as the new home of the Winter Wolves takes shape.
I have no idea about this, but it cpuld be interesting?
[ ] Check in on your fief in Stirland.
still wanna do this though. Poor fief should at least be checked up on every half decade or so (maybe every decade).
[ ] Yes, have one social interaction be initiated by someone other than Mathilde.
this is a no brainer for me. Mathilde is a better target of socials rather than her choosing to interact with someone.

Aww, roll of 108 on a Diplomacy check isn't enough to get a result of "Thrilling" to read? Still just Compelling? Aw. Oh well.

... Huh. Hey, is it possible for Mathilde to develop a "Strategy - Greenskins" and "Tactics - Greenskins" from all the books she's writing and all the hunting/scouting/sneaking of orcs she's doing?

Actually, for that matter... With the Night Prowler facet... We could infiltrate and spend time in Greenskin settlements much much easier than anybody else could. Could we, potentially, do enough spying and observing of Greenskins in their own settlements, that it would come up as a Paper Topic?

Is there some sort of "spy on Greenskins/Skaven" action we could take? Not just recon or scout or steal stuff. But spying on their society.

Skaven military terminology is quite the boon.
That, paired with the knowledge on their usual Tactics and Strategy, is amazing enough.

Should Mathilde succeed in completing their language database, I foresee a lot more frequent Skaven Civil Wars, courtesy of Wizards in Grey.

Also, I am kinda tempted by the notion of capturing a Mors warlord or chieftain, after finishing with Qrech, so that we can gain additional insights on Skaven warfare by pumping for information their most martially talented sub-group.

Eshin are making me paranoid. They have filled a whole mountain, and are ignoring the traitors to The Thirteen?
That's bad. Really bad. They just got the number one place on the list of things Mathilde should deep-scout.

Since when do we lack in paper topics so much that spending actions to get one seems like a good idea?

[ ] Yes, have one social interaction be initiated by someone other than Mathilde.
Pro: npc agency
Con: fiercer debate about social votes

[ ] Investigate the aftermath of the Empire's campaigns against the Skaven in Nuln and Ubersreik.
-I wanna see how this went, and Bretonnia is out by virtue of being Bretonnia

[ ] Kragg, who's begun to be seen around the Karak once more, indicating he might be finishing his study of the rune-axe you and Johann found.
[ ] The Amber College, to see how your donation of Lustrian eggs is going.
-i also wanna see how these went because we are the ones who put them there

[ ] Titus Muggins, who's returned to farming with every avenue of attack defended.
[ ] Elder Hluodwica, as the Halflings prepare for their first proper harvest festival in this new home.
-one of these, for a return to Mathilde's bucolic roots? Or a rejection of the same

I am in favor of giving the fief a headpat to see how it's doing (it doesn't need Mathilde, no need to spend turn actions on it) and otherwise getting to know other Councilors and other important people in the Karak more, now that things seem to be a lot less on fire than they were a year ago.

[+] The Wizards of Karak Eight Peaks (locked in)
[+} EIC Results (locked in; does not cost an action)

Locked in, so staying here.
@BoneyM
Somewhat pedantic, but wrong parenthesis on the EIC option (Might influence the tally)

[X] King Belegar, as he arranges for Clan Ironspike to rejoin their ancestral home from Karak Hirn.

I agree with @SuperSonicSound here. More knowledge would let s apply our skills better in that area.

[X] Prince Kazrik, as he builds on his relationship with Nuln.

I'm following @SuperSonicSound on this also, since I agree with his idea.

[X] Francesco Caravello, proud leader of the Undumgi and possible future Thane.

Helping him get is head on the WE would make for an interesting scene.

[X] Kragg, who's begun to be seen around the Karak once more, indicating he might be finishing his study of the rune-axe you and Johann found.

More Kragg is always fun, and I'm interested in the details of that axe.

[X] Check in on your fief in Stirland.

I will vote down any of the above if that helps the fief win. We are really due for this, and this turn doesn't have the pressure of the previous one.
Left take advantage of that.

Edit: Also,

[X] Yes, have one social interaction be initiated by someone other than Mathilde.

That allows @BoneyM to bring new characters in and makes to story more realistic. I'm all for it.

I can wind back the Laconic trait for a single point of College Favour, if you'd prefer.

No, none of that meaningfully reveals to her the tactics or strategy they use, nor the thinking behind them.

Actually, for that matter... With the Night Prowler facet... We could infiltrate and spend time in Greenskin settlements much much easier than anybody else could. Could we, potentially, do enough spying and observing of Greenskins in their own settlements, that it would come up as a Paper Topic?

If you're desperately short of AP sinks and paper topics, I guess I could add it to the list.

"Thrilling" requires you to write an academic paper that even people who aren't either academics or people it's aimed to help would enjoy reading.

I'd imagine it would require no less than a 150+ result.

Also, I'll take +1 Learning over +1 College Favor, remember that Learning is what we use to cast spells, and the higher our Learning gets, the better we are at almost everything we do.

For half a second I was like "Aw Hell Yeah!!!" About our new gastery, but remembered the caveat of the mastered version only needing to touch people to hit haha. Long term raiding side by side with Johann and his magical filter lungs denied. At least we can plonk down a charge of the normal version on him for a fun raiding moment!

Still a pretty dang good mastery, can't argue about a moving smoke bomb that makes everyone confused as heck!
