Well, according to the Wiki Ice Dragons tend towards using the Lore of Light, soooo. Not something Mathilde can use much, sadly.

Edit: Also pretty bad because as far as i know Lore of Light has a bunch of "fuck your illusions and stealth" effects.

She can possibly harvest college Favour from it though, and despite her prejudices strengthening the Light College strengthens the Empire.

I want a major focus on the codebreaking, and its all hands on deck. Max is Patient and high in the relevant stats. He'll be fine enough for statistical analysis, even if he's not an experienced linguist, I think the synergy effect of like 4-5 actions interlocking supporting each other should overcome any difficulties.
Fair enough. Do you mind if I tweak the formatting? There are some small inconsistencies and other things that are making me twitch.

Also, @BoneyM, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate that we're doing a slow-build to the scene where we test-fire the Tower on screen for the first time. Still really hope King Kazador gets the honor.

We should look into Mhonar some more of course, but if it is 'just' a deathtrap that things go into but never come out of, we could 'free up' an entire front by wiping the trolls out; even if we don't occupy wyr the lack of an enemy there (no matter how passive) would free up some soldiers.

Did a bit of cursory searching, and some signs here are pointing to the Mourngul ; Wendigo themed wraith creature that lives in the coldest, highest, places and comes down to eat everything alive during snowstorms.
"Mournghuls are horrific, ethereal creatures which haunt the bleak and empty places of the Old World. They are a thing neither dead nor alive, possess an insatiable hunger, and are malice personified."

Wow, good call! And they even are Ethereal like I first mused about an Ethereal killer of some sort. One of my own thoughts bubbling around in my head was "Maybe... a crypt ghoul of some sort???" "But would have to be super sneaky. For rangers to not have found any sign."

Looks like it likely is a Wendigo, as some people guessed.

"Haunters of the Dark - A mournghul is a thing of shadows and icy fogs. Despite its size it can slip unseen through the darkness and even in broad daylight seems to waver like an evil mirage until it fastens its long, sharp claws around its victim's neck."

It's also a thing of cold and shadow. And is in the Shadow Mountain.

[X] Radio Wolf
-[X] MAX: Study an artefact: Skaven book on the Anatomy of Chaos Dwarves.
-[X] JOHANN: Join him on raids into Clan Mors territory with the aim of finding written correspondence.
-[X] DUCK: Gretel's motivated by wealth. Take her on a raid against Clan Mors, looking for wealth and Queekish.
-[X] EIC: Put policies in place that local news should be collected and sent to you (rumour mill).
-[X] Travel to the Grey College and attend lessons there. (1 College Favour per class; 100gc can be paid instead for non-magical classes)
--[X] Spend 10 Favour to get all remaining spells.
-[X] Red Tower: build a tower that uses Aqshy to create mystical flames (and non-mystical light) to use the mountain at night.
-[X] Wolf is fully grown and a Very Good Boy. Train him. (increases his intelligence, he may learn to speak Praestantia)
-[X] Supply a steady stream of Queekish documents for him to translate, and carefully check the results for consistency.
--[X] Convince Qrech that the Empire has already translated Queekish, but his help could provide a faster turnaround and better help you plan an attack on Clan Mors.
-[X] Serenity: Write a paper: Your personal understanding of countering Waaagh Magic.
-[X] Penthouse: Add security measures to your Penthouse to prevent surreptitious entry.
-[X] The Deceiver: Support Skaven Gambit.

Giving the Skaven the documents to translate should keep his interest for a while. Combined with hunting down other pieces of correspondence for our interrogation (and hanging out) sessions this should keep him staying sane and useful.
This plan also has Max looking into the Anatomy book so we can double check some translations.

Also this plan includes finally getting that Rumour mill we all want.

Most important is that it has the Wolf action. Wolf is the best boy, vote for a wolf.
Wolf will help us learn Queekish, and give us a powerful radio link to report on our actions as we perform them when we're in enemy territory. Also we can make him our official librarian which would be hilarious.

If I'm right and it is them, then I'd guess they might be the (extremely) unfortunate """survivors""" of a drawn out starvation siege.

Plan edited.

@BoneyM Can we commission a large wheel for our Skaven to run on? If so, would it cost an AP or just gold? Would it help with the boredom problem?

That would be part of the 'supply mental stimulation' option.

@BoneyM , would Mathilde know anything about Mournghuls? Apparently they live in the grey mountains, so they weren't a million miles away from her.

While she might be able to find them if she consulted her library, she's also sure the Rangers would have checked for teeth-marks and it would have been mentioned if they found them.

[ ] Plan Essentials Without Overwork
-[ ] MAX: Allow him to spend all his time on his metalworking studies.
-[ ] JOHANN: Join him on raids into Clan Mors territory with the aim of finding written correspondence.
-[ ] DUCK: Johann's investigation into the ratling gun has hit a wall. See if you can help.
-[ ] EIC: Have the Eight Peaks branch keep a careful eye on the mood and actions of the Undumgi.
-[ ] Attempt to learn a spell from scrolls (specify which, will be harder than studying it at the Grey College)
--[ ] Shroud of Invisibility
-[ ] Red Tower: build a tower that uses Aqshy to create mystical flames (and non-mystical light) to use the mountain at night.
-[ ] Supply a steady stream of Queekish documents for him to translate, and carefully check the results for consistency.
--[ ] Tell Qresh we want him to translate to gather intelligence on Clan Mors for upcoming action against them.
-[ ] You have set up a Shrine to Ranald. Expand it into a Temple to the Gambler - a gambling hall with clean cards, guaranteed unloaded dice, fresh sawdust in the fighting ring, and a lottery every Festag. Costs 100gc.
-[ ]Serenity: Write a paper: Your personal understanding of countering Waaagh Magic. (FADING)
-[ ]Penthouse: Add security measures to your Penthouse to prevent surreptitious entry. (NEW)
-[ ] The Deceiver: Military Intelligence

Max Reasoning: He's a Journeyman who may one day wish to be a Magister. Let him perform the studies he wants to do.
Johann Reasoning: Synergizes with Qrech Reasoning, below.
Duck Reasoning: We know guns. We know Dhar. We might have insights to assist him with.
EIC Reasoning: It was in the plans @veekie put forward, and I have no objection to it.
Scroll Learning Reasoning: We've had terrible luck with making contact with classes. Also, uses the correct spell name.
Red Tower Reasoning: This basically doubles as having the benefits of the Blue Tower, doesn't it?
Qresh Reasoning: He'd be more motivated to cooperate if his translations hurt the Traitor-Clan.
Ranald Reasoning: You know. I'd prefer to rock the Gambler face while doing this, but good points were made about the Deceiver.
Paper Reasoning: It was in the plans @veekie put forward, and I have no objection to it.
Penthouse Reasoning: Even trying to get Qresh to translate will invite Eshin attention, I fear.
Deceiver Reasoning: To the best of my knowledge, we aren't planning military action against Clan Mors.

Max Reasoning: He's a Journeyman who may one day wish to be a Magister. Let him perform the studies he wants to do.
Max is taking up Mathilde's action, he should do Mathilde's tasks.

If you want to let him do his own studies all day, you should fire him, so he can concentrate on his studies and Mathilde can concentrate on her studies.

Then what about negotiating with the dragons if they a e sentient?

Trolls are chaos in nature, I thought they were just beasts that are barely sentient and more animalistic.

The dwarfs will fit into lhune even if alot immigrants come back . So there is that point and if the dragon could be cajoled into a alliance or hell just mercenary work to increase its hoard and promise to not attack us is a point for the dwarfs. Asarnil will be interested , colleges will be interested aswell and it might be a mate possibility to the imperial dragon aswell .

There is already a example with karag nar basicly given to humans already so giving the mountain away isnt super troublesome actually. Empire has a dragon already but its young but the supreme patriarch should maybe be able to help. And there is the option of asarnil , he might not even rip us off here since the task will involve being diplomatic to a dragon wich is probably one of the few things he and his dragon will be interested in the humanish lands. Also the WE are a example aswell.

But yeah the main issue with the dragon will be if he has grudges or not. And if he doesnt have grudges would he be willing to trade his dwarf loot for other loot maybe or just coins maybe .

Maybe have to travel around dwarf holds and see how many ice dragons have grudges and does it match any of the descriptions for grudge part or have the dwarfs themselves just send requests for ice dragon stuff.

Could be a action after next turn. We probably will have to suggest the idea to check about grudges and recruiting it and say we got the idea from the imperial dragon i guess cause this wont come easily to the dwarfs during the next meeting.

Ice dragons are the name for Emperor Dragons of that sub-type, the largest, oldest, wisest, and most powerful of dragons, who are often spellcasters as well. Ice Dragons that cast magic use Hysh, the Lore of Light
Oh great. It's a dragon and a Hierophant. Double the arrogance.

Mourngul. A monster of cold and shadow, on the line between dead and alive, in Karag Mhonar the Shadow Mountain and a really cold place...

As for the dragon... Guys, I'm not so sure that diplomacy will be all that viable here, I'm afraid. Temper your enthusiasm a bit. =/ Even in some kind of best case scenario, it'd probably demand tributes of tons of gold and treasure for... whatever it is we wanted.

Any hypothetical negotiations might be especially tricky since, if it's a sleepy dragon, that means it is not going to be happy at being woken up.

Lads. Dont be distracted by the new shinys. This turn is Snek Juice for at least one action.
We have four personal actions, and are recovering from prior overwork. One action for the tower, one for Qresh, one to learn invisibility, and one to show Ranald the gratitude he deserves.
