He taught the We Reichspiel. He has Law of Logic and Patience. He can devote more time to the project than Mathilde. The Skaven has every reason to cooperate. The job is not extracting secrets, it's learning a language and Max is better suited to it than Mathilde herself.
He's a Skaven- that's all the reason he needs to be less than fully cooperative, and to try to mis-teach us or draw things out as long as possible. The more time we have to spend learning from him the longer we need to keep him alive and healthy for, and the less accurately he can teach us the more smart he's being by getting one over us (especially useful if he ever gets free and returns to the Skaven). Plus, Max doesn't really seem socially prepared for dealing with someone who's out to manipulate him into opportunities for freedom; we don't know his intrigue score, but his diplomacy is only 7 and he seems to have a history of social flare-ups.

Seriously, Max + Warpstone weaponry is a bad idea. Joann is skating the Articles by doing it but he has permission and is mostly made of gold. Max doesn't and isn't.

Maybe we'll inspire imitators from other Colleges?
If the Screaming Tower is the tower the wizard sits in that attracts the enemies onto the map, and the Tower of Burning Shadow is an activated tower with a powerful effect (until it gets the tech-tree upgrade that lets you activate it wherever and whenever you want), what are the other go-to towers that people might find attractive to implement?

Hmm... the two that immediately spring to mind are a GAP generator from Red Alert, and a bubble-shield tower.

@TotallyNotEvil

Boney confirmed that having Max accompany the Skaven would delay insanity from solitary confinement. If you feel it's worth it, reassign Max to the rat and then add the spell gacha so that the sub-quest can be finished.

You know us working on our magical tower and stuff would it not be a good time to read Fozzrik's grimoire? Which apparently the Grey collage has. Knowing a bit more about Archimancy couldn't hurt really.
Would reading that cost a collage favor @BoneyM?

I meant more in terms of 'what other spells might benefit from being shot off of a tower at large groups of people', unless you're doing the thing where we mix up names in a humorous manner? Sorry.

No, but the success rate of gleaming any useful information whatsoever from Fozzrik's writings remains at a flat zero.

@Redshirt Army Why not have Max babysit the Skaven and add in the best At Will tower option?

I would say he shouldn't, because I don't want to half-ass this because we wanted to squeeze some slightly bigger numbers out of the tower, doubly so as BoneyM already told us "Don't try to game it, he'll look at it and contribute how he thinks is useful, you can't tell him what to do"

Like, for heck's sake, toss the boy a bone and let him have some fun, or have him doing some research for us, we'll have work for him soon enough.

@TotallyNotEvil seconding this, The Skaven needs to interact with people, but It does not have to be us, having Max play with the boys is a waste of his talents, and something he can do on his own time.
And the gacha Is a dealbreaker to a lot of people, so let's go with the flow.

Boney has made clear that we can't game Algard's help by picking more Tower options in a single turn.

That being the case, I'm not inclined to go with a suboptimal Skaven approach - and trusting someone with no interrogation training with a Skaven prisoner seems silly anyway.

Hah.

But yeah, you want to know the real power move? It'll be coming into next turn, flipping onto the Deciever, and using that to literally trick him into teaching us Queekish through a long and involved ruse cruise that might even deceive any racial alerts they have around that.

Literally con their language out of him.

I was just listing off the tower-types that spring to mind when talking about wide-area effects you can deploy from them. The GAP generator is basically a radar-blocker, so a spell equivalent would be something like a fog-of-war generator, while a bubble shield is basically a massive energy shield generated from the tower and enclosing everything around it. Not sure which (if any) spells would map to those, though.

Is this because it's encoded? Or was Fozzrik just so gifted that no one's been able to replicate his work/enough of a troll to write down useless advice for the people who'd try to?
