We cant predict those.
We can, though, that's the point. If we can determine that something will need the Oh Dear room in a vote, we can certainly determine that in the narrative. Maybe it won't be perfect, but it'll be far better than going 'oh well, I've made my choice' and doing the explosive stuff in the quiet room, or vice versa.

I'm terrified of what the results of a miscast of the Towers of Burning Shadows would be. Do we have a WOG on the likelihood/severity of miscasts with that tower?

@BoneyM If you have you're threadmark button ready, how about the compilation above and this post about the dwarfen epic Forge Fires:

Man it's always awkward to shill for threadmarking your own posts.

As a magical item, it should probably break before actually managing to miscast. Bad on our wallet, but not disastrous. And the effects of an effectively perfectly ideal ritual space should have a great effect on what's already only a jumped up Moderately Complicated spell.

Some things don't deserve to be recognized. :V

We have the magic score to cast Burning Shadows reliably, and we have Black Lotus extract for a material component to assist if need be. I don't think miscasts are a serious problem we need to worry about unless enemy action is a factor.

I vaguely recall that when it was suggested for use in the Citadel vs Grobi Town that the miscast chance wasn't higher than a normal spell. Which for Burning Shadows is basically nill if we're not stressed, in active combat in the Burning Shadows room, etc since we can reliably cast it.

I wanna point out that we just had a fifteen minute gap in replies (between Bungie and wrecksalot), and it made me wonder if something terrible has happened. And that's just bloody weird.

It'd be odd if we never have a brush with death. I'd rather Mathilde focus on what will actually help us achieve her missions instead of constantly chasing the mirage of a safe world.

[X] Untroubled
The important part of 'nearly dying' is the 'nearly'. Everything worked out, so why worry about it?

We want the Ulgu Tower this turn, so we can get our spell learning out of the way with maximum efficiency.

Just because we can try to master two partially learned spells in one action doesn't mean it's a guaranteed thing. An extra +20 on top of that makes it a lot more likely.

The Ulgu tower won't do anything if our action is to go do the spell gacha at the college instead of learning at home... which is what I favor.

I just wanted to make a PSA that if you like warhammer fantasy tropes, you might enjoy this game.

There are no dwarfs (they dug too deep and are all dead), but there are cultists, ratmen, demons, undead, secrets, 'drawable' spells and interesting sequence breaking possible maps (though most of that is admittedly unlikely), all on a underground dungeon.

It's awkward because you're putting me on the spot. Now I've got two options, either alienate a reader or put a seven-line joke about Dwarf smut into the threadmarks.

I don't like being put in this situation and it's been happening more and more lately.

For what its worth since the writer isn't the one asking for it to be threadmarked you probably aren't really alienating people.

So I wanted to begin work on my Dusk and the Dawn Part 3 omake, so I have to ask. Where does everyone think the best starting location for Mathilde would be? My first instinct is near Wurtbad in Stirland but I'm not sure.

Ah, I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention. It's always a balancing act between curation and not leaving stuff out that would be otherwise missed by later readers. I'm personally more inclined towards the later, because I typically don't read the entire thread, especially old content, but I can totally see how that has it's own problems (bloat, for one). I'll step back on this sorta thing.

To fit with her ability to recruit allies, I'd suggest Wurtbad as default but if you win campaigns as Dwarves and other allied factions you unlock the option of using K8P and others.

Its set in the middle of the war right? so wouldn't just outside of Tempelhof as a ruin town be a good start for the hord?

That was what I was thinking, with Wurtbad having a Spy Ring preestablished.

Basically I would be making the Haunted Hills act as Mathilde's tutorial enemy, although I was considering the Stirland League as a fun option but i'm not too sure there. It is also partially set up for Mathilde getting her belt magic item, with it requiring several actions against the Vampire counts to get the quest battle and the battle in question being the attack on Drakenhof town.

As the Author of that, i would not ask for it to be made threadmark and it was never intended as one, i just like to joke around and have done so multiple times. No alienation here, do not worry about it.

No way, Johanns are about 90% gold by volume
Ah, but we don't exactly own Johanns. They are college property lended to us, and we can requisishion another for college favor, which is a resource we have a reliable influx of.

Towers, however, cost dwarf favor.

I mean, we do have the Liber Mortis.

EDIT: Wait no, that's repairing our Johanns, not replacing them.

Darn, I thought I had scored a slam dunk there.
A properly bound Alkaseltzer would make a great Johann, I believe. Plus, that would make a new source just a bite away!

There's a quote in someone's signature that I quite like. "It is your job to personify the tyranny of the majority. You must brutally, ruthlessly oppress and persecute the fuck out of the poor misunderstood disruptive creep minority so that the privileged nerd funhaver status quo can be maintained."

Granted, calling someone who wants a dumb joke threadmarked a "poor misunderstood creep minority" is going way too far, but the general principle of "it's your thread to run (and your threadmarks to curate) and we the audience as a whole are not going to mind if you rule accordingly" stands nonetheless. If you don't feel something's threadmarkworthy, then don't threadmark it. There are many writers with far more draconian omake policies and people still read their stuff and participate in their threads with pretty minimal whinging. You don't need to worry or feel bad about it, I promise.
