I'd argue that it's matriarch post which is different from what we do, while supreme matriarch is quite similar. The main difference between our position and SP is the employer.

Oh, I'm not arguing to get there as soon as possible - I'm arguing getting there eventually. In a decade or two
I gotcha, I'm more leaning towards that being a possibility I'd be more open to in two decades rather than one. A decade is only twenty turns after all or fourty updates.

While I sorta agree, I'd like to note that all the adventures of Mathilde up to this point took about a decade.

With months or even years shaved off the task, Gunnars is able to call for a halt on expansion of the tomb complex and leave several unused rooms for further expansion. As Kragg is sequestered away on a separate task, Thorek takes a break from his raiding with King Kazador to apply and empower the necessary runes and the doors of the tomb seem to melt into the stonework.
I think this really drives it further home that Dwarfs really take the sanctity of their tombs seriously. It's the most senior rune smiths that seal them, not a learning exercise for apprentices.

Yeah but I've got some thoughts for what to do if we end up moving away from Karak Eight Peaks in a decade or two and in my head they'd come before going for Matriarch positions. We might not leave of course depending, but I have thought about what I'd like to do if we did.

They're not really relevant though while we're in Karak Eight Peaks.

So it's a little bit late to pitch this, but based upon the update it sounds like we've cleared out the old orc shrine materials and put in an idol to Ranald, but aside from that the shrine is just... empty. That's no way for a shrine to Ranald to be properly enjoyed, so how about a shopping vote to fix it? Recall with pricing that Mathilde got dwarf-IKEA-tier furniture for one penthouse bedroom for 20g, so I'm thinking that a shrine with a dozen tables and assorted chairs plus a few other useful furniture items (like booze cabinets) could reasonably be expected to run about ten times that.

[ ] [SHOPPING] Outfit Ranald's shrine with plenty of furniture suitable for his favored activities and some artwork indirectly referencing his divine theft here. (200g)

Opinions? I'd like to get this done this turn if possible as the sooner we get this religious site fully up and running the better.

[X] [SPIDER] They are the very definition of 'miscellaneous weirdness' and thus the responsibility of the Court Wizard.

[X] [KRAGG] Hit Fast
[X] [KRAGG] Hit When They're Not Looking

[X] Tower of Dawn and Dusk - with ritual and material and expert consultation, make your Tower like a tuning fork for Ulgu. Bonus to enchantment, rituals, spell learning, spell making, and power stone creation within the tower. 250gc, 5 College favours.

[X] [SHOPPING] A gun. I don't care what type, just a gun, a sexy gun, to cuddle with, take for walks, prop up are pillow with it, hang it over a mantle, duck tape it to our sword, leave it unattended on the coffee table with children around. I just really want a gun. Pistol, Rifle, Blunderbuss, a freaking cannon. I just really want that gun.

I don't know. Being Supreme Matriarch is basically being Emperor's court magician - and that's the next (and final) step of our career as an advisor.
I'm not against Supreme Matriarch, but I don't think it's the same as court magician. No more than the Grand Theogonist is the court priest.

And anyways, the next step of our career is court magician of the High-King, and that's not really a step in our career.

I'm back on page 1885 right now but I'm going to point something out...

The Tower of Burning Shadows should not be the first floor of the tower. It should be on the highest floor of the highest tower. Why? Because if your going to harness the shadow of a mountain to melt an army with its shadow... it should be done from the position best representing making rude gestures at them. Making the entire mountain's shadow into a giant hand flipping them off while that is happening is just proper.

So can we talk about our buying of books? Clearly a part of the voting base feels strongly it's very worth it, but at this rate our money is going down very very quickly and I personally don't necessarily feel it's always worth it.
Additionally, I feel it might be a weird addition to the quest to do it every turn. Already while 172 people have voted in total since last update, only 90 have voted at all on the library-'issue'. While this is of course more than enough to indicate it is still a relevant concern of the thread, I feel it might lose some of it's novelty among part of the voting base. This might cause a lot of people to stop voting on it at all or simply go to a default vote of not buying any books at all while another group of people might grow frustrated because they want to buy some or a lot of books each turn.
For myself, while I don't wish to offend anyone, I have already lost total interest in our library and have close to 0 interest in it as a mechanic in this quest at all. I know of course that this opinion is not widely shared (probably), but consider this a post for me to measure that.

Edit: spelling

Ah. Are you perhaps anticipating a certain abundance of shadowknives in the current High Kings future?

We can totally be the evil vizier!

I'd rather be the weird vizier (I mean, look at what happened with that assassin. Mathilde has the power to turn Warhammer into slapstick! There can be no stronger power).

And I optimistically see Thorgrim stepping down after recognising that the dwarfs have a future yet, and there's a dwarf for leading them into that future.

I think it is an entirely reasonable mechanic to represent the fact that we are in a living breathing world and it is not required of us to constantly reinvent the wheel when researching. If we did not have the option to buy research bonuses it would feel somewhat odd and artificial to me.
