Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Honestly, if any elves were going to turn to necromancy it'd be the eonir. The other elves don't have quite the same pressure of being constantly encroached on and outnumbered. I could totally see some Eonir mage contemplating overrunning nordland in a tide of dead humans, or fighting off the annual beastman invasion by turning their corpses against them.

@Boney, regarding magical topics:

-You previously indicated the existence of a Liminal Pathways topic, explicitly saying that the Eonir should have books on it. Unless this changed (the topic folded into Liminal Realms or other topics) this should probably be added (unless the entire category is restricted? I guess it would be kind of relevant to bypassing their defences...)
-No books on Dhar itself, despite getting books on all Winds+Qhaysh . We also got books on Chaos Sorcery and Wild Magic, but are there any books on just Dhar magic? What Druchii would call 'Pure Dhar' I guess?
-We got additional Asur books on Elementalism, but on Elementals themselves we still have zero Asur books. That's probably an oversight?
-No Power Stones books. Is it one of the restricted magical topics?

Good to know. Maybe I'm just too used to, say, Star Wars where being called "Savage Oppress" or "Elan Sleazebaggano" or "Whorm Loathsom" or "Ima Gun Di" is fine and usual.

I mean, it's not that his name is "gold" that makes it an alias, I agree that's plausible in the context of Warhammer names, it's that his entire history before showing up as a full adult mage and getting inducted into the Gold Order by the Matriarch as a full Magister is all explicitly a fabrication. His past is intentionally obscured in-universe, by him.

"That's great news," he says with complete sincerity, and you very deliberately prevent yourself from lingering on how rare that reaction is, and how much more welcome it might have been for some than what they actually got

This made me tear up a bit, especially considering Mathilde's backstory.

The two spend quite some time mocking the fringe belief in simple physical forces shaping the world over millions of years

And this made me laugh ^-^

It is beyond the peoples of the current era to even measure how many steps they are removed from the original lessons of the Old Ones, those that joined forces with the Dragons to shape this world and held back the onslaught of Chaos for long enough for life as you know it today to grow strong enough to take up the fight themselves.
So what I'm hearing is "Find a way to get into Caledor and get those 20 independant confirmations of Deathfang's rcounting of Draconic Mythology so we can finally publish that damnit the Dragon's to teach us Old One Script so we can look at things coming out of Lustria and have another mental breakdown."

"Completely unpublishable. Unless I manage to get invited to Caledor and get 20 independent draconic corroboration, or find a history of the world that agrees signed by Sigmar's own hand? Entirely unprintable."
What do you mean obsessed?! The College favor wars must be won! No I don't think breaking the colleges minds with the MORBs is enough.

@Boney, how much does the Grand University of Nuln care about nature and animals? I've got it in my list that they're about "the sciences" but Altdorf's the place noted for its bestiaria.

Thanks Ranald that Bursar can't ask Mathilde to pay a tithe from the books 📚

Although, providing unconditional access to the library for the Colleges kinda counts for that, I guess.

I think you have a typo where you spelled planets instead of plants, unless I am missing something about Fantasy's solar system outside of the evil moon.

He probably was really chuuni as a teenager, and had to hide his shameful past.

Of course, he did so in the chuuniest way possible

Come on Mathilde, don't be like that, you know it does build character. It built your character as a thief, liar and embezzler. :V

You could say that the student debt is responsible for her becoming an avid Ranald worshipper, and I feel like it might be theologically fraught for her to argue against the practice on grounds that it may yet drive more disaffected and dissatisfied souls to lie, steal and embezzle in the future. /jk

Added.

Elementals as a magical phenomena distinct from Forest Spirits aren't really present within Laurelorn, so they only have books on them as an application of magic.

-No Power Stones books. Is it one of the restricted magical topics?

Part restricted, path House and Grey Lord topic.

And presumably in favour of her girlfriend too, right? ...Right?

It does take some of the shine off the idea of epic dramatic romance when you've got the comfortable cozy kind right there.

@Boney, how much does the Grand University of Nuln care about nature and animals? I've got it in my list that they're about "the sciences" but Altdorf's the place noted for its bestiaria.

They're not uninterested in them, but they're not outstripping the Zoo or the Amber College in the field.

In a letter to the Grey College, you briefly summarize the bounty of knowledge that you have acquired, and leave to them the titanic task of figuring out who in the Empire deserves to know about the secrets that have become available to anyone willing to make the journey to the edge of the continent.

Unironically, pilgrimage to K8P could turn into a big industry. There was already the halls where the Ancestor Gods are first known to have mined to attract dwarven pilgrims. Now a library where books exist that otherwise simply can't be found outside inaccessible elven archives? All kinds of scholars are going to want to see those.

Yes, it's a long, difficult, journey. So was going to Jerusalem in the first millennium CE. Even low thousands a year, well, that doesn't sound like much by modern tourism standards but considering the population of the karak it would be huge. Each of those visitors will be a person of means (or escorting such a person) or they wouldn't have the money to make the journey, all of them needing a place to stay and food to eat and all sorts of other things, especially the researchers.

Honestly, Belegar might turn a net profit on his investment by the end of his kingship.

[ ] [COLLEGE] Translate Eonir Anatomy and Medicine books and donate them to the Cult of Shallya (6 CF)

This'll leave us with 5 CF afterwards. With how important one elf dude's books were for Old World medicine, I think this would be important. It would certainly save many lives over the years. It would also be a great first impression with the Cult of Shallya.

Did... did we just found Balthazar Gelt?
Don't think so, Gelt reportedly is from the border princes or around there while this boy was born in Stirland and moved down here due to the success of the expedition. There'd be no impetus for the father to head this far south as a soldier in Stirland's army and subsequently migrate his entire family over miles of dangerous territory just to resettle in the border princes.

Going to lobby for

[ ][COLLEGE] An Ulgu powerstone (5 CF)

Because I want to go to Nagarythe next turn, and the primary use of Powerstones is as a one-shot spell enhancer, which might be very useful if shit hits the fan and we need to drop an empowered MMM in a hurry. Having an extra get-out-of-jail-free card is just nice, especially when it's affordable and our practical uses for CF are dwindling.

Library-wise, I'm kind of indifferent? Maybe @mathymancer or @Parabola have some good ideas, but right now I'm either thinking "some more stuff about Nehekhara" or "filling out the four Winds that we don't have Esoteric Collegiate books about."

Nothing out of pocket on regular purchase or Dwarf, though.

We've still got a fair bit more books coming in, too - we've yet to finish copying the rest of Nuln's libraries. Once that's complete, I'd be pretty comfortable calling KAU the greatest library on the continent.

At that point, our goal should shift to gaining agreements from the rest of the libraries in the Empire, Tilea, and Estalia. We could make a play to see if we could get access to a decent chunk of Kislev's books too, by offering Boris an oathbound place to "back-up" Kislev's knowledge for the next Chaos incursion.

We can start sending out feelers to Ind and Cathayan libraries at that point, too - K8P is a major trade hub, after all, and we'd be getting large to the point that cross-continental collaboration starts to look semi-feasible. We'll see how the elfcation goes, but that's an opportunity to talk to the White Tower, too.

As for Mathilde personally, I'd love to see her learn both Anoqueyan and Arcane Khazalid, and then with that backing make an attempt at the Old One writings to see what she can glean. It would make for a nice research project to gnaw at, now that the Morbs are winding down.

The issue with that is that the cult of Shallya mostly uses in cult secret… well, secrets in their healing.

If you really want to do something, it would be donating them to the medical schools.
Tho that falls under the problem of 'how much magic is involved in Enoir medicine.'

One of the reasons that the elf quake was so used by humans is that he didn't use magic in his studies. (Even if he was horribly wrong).

Did... did we just found Balthazar Gelt?
Theres no actual evidence for it besides, vibes, the timelines plausibley make him probably a similar age maybe, and possible foreshadowing that Mathilde will be watching his career.
As far as evidence against it? Well other people mentioned that his backstory is explicitly a deception so the truth is probably a blank slate for Boney to write on.
All things considered, its about as likely that he was the Changeling as he was Gelt, i.e. its true if Boney decides to do it.

Exactly, it made her the woman she is today! :V
What made me the genius I am today?
The great Shadowmancer that others all quote?
What are the travails that made me that way?
The shortest that ever got blood on her cloak?

One thing deserves the credit,
One thing deserves the blame!
And an unpaid then embezzled student loan (ugh) is its name!
An unpaid then embezzled student—

I am never forget the day I first see invoice of student loan,
In two words it showed me secret of success in wizardry: crippling debt

Etc
Aaand I'm out of steam.
