Guys we are vanishingly unlikely to ever roll high art or the like and thus need a bonus, so's everyone important enough to roll d100. Probably best to leave it alone, no sense giving @Boney more work that is not going to lead to anything actionable. I could kind of see the point for Flora with Pan, but I think those rolls are more likely to be Terraforming anyway.
I don't think you quite understand what is it that voters want from this library. This is more a roleplay thing (more books! Accumulate knowledge! Let's make the greatest book collection!) than a mechanics thing (more bonuses! They may help us in future rolls!). Even if the later is a part of it.

Tl;Dr We don't want the library to have those "probably useless" books because we want bonuses for a potential future roll. We just want those books, period.

@Boney since we did dedicated work on the subject I feel it's worth the ask, is Mycology part of Old World Forests or would it be its own thing?

For another subject, Norsca unless it's part of the Old World. It's close by, so might have Asur books on it. Marauder Tribes might do if the Eonir have been raided by Norscans over the years. Perhaps other Chaos enemies like Chaos Warriors if they decided to have a go at looting and destroying the elf place connected to the sea by river.

There's also, well, it moves them up financially.

Think about it, the kid was going to be a professional solider. Not the most well paying of jobs, but now? He's a Wizard. Much less a Gold Wizard at that-
Oh, definitely. Finding out that your child has a talent for an unique and valuable profession is a great boon. Not having to worry about your child future (especially among large families) must be a huge relief.

Actually, thinking about the quasi-classical culture the Eonir have I'd expect Rhetoric to be a substantial subject of study, practice, and writing, with standard texts for students and formal schools and styles.

I still can't believe that voters used this amazing transcendent boon from a wealthy dwarven polity on a library of all things. I get why with the overlap between 'people that love this quest', 'people who are in too deep on Warhammer Fantasy lore', and 'nerds who would actually like being part of something like that in real life', but when I got to that part of the read through I face palmed pretty hard regardless🤣

They might not know much about modern day Cathay or Ind or Khuresh, but they could well have quite detailed records of visits from Asur merchants and tourists to their ports, so at least know things about their coasts' physical geography and ecology, even if their cultures and politics have moved on.

And in the case of Cathay, even the later two may not have changed all that much.
The 8th edition High Elf book states that first contact between Ulthuan and Cathay was substantially after the Eonir split off.

Mathilde thought she could beat the stacks, perhaps her greatest moment of hubris. Now finally caught up to her.

@Boney two more subjects. First is Skaven: they helped Mandred out by guiding his army, and maybe they did enough other stuff with skaven to write stuff down about them. Here is the library as it was before and after I added the Ithilmar influx, as of the time of posting. The 'New Library' section will not contain additions and corrections made afterwards.

Look at my books, my books are amazing... :V
We got lucky in a shrine to Ranald, overseen by a priest of Ranald.
Thanks Ranald!
Ranald: "You better be. Do you know how hard it was to not just push one of the table?"😾
Getting sent to live in a cave on the other end of the continent to be a glorified search engine *is* pretty on brand for an internship.
In a cave full of spiders no less! :V

The Stacks - Storage of books that don't fit into the library's current categorization system. Contains writings on various Eonir sports and arts.
….

Ok, hear me out:

The Stacks: on a failed research roll, Mathilde can make a Stacks roll to represent her diving into her piles of books that don't fit into her current system for the off chance of finding useful information to the current problem in an odd place. Has to roll under the current stacks number, that is based on how many libraries of extra books she has.

Stacks number is currently: 3 (Nuln, LoD, Halfling library.)

Not powerful, but represents how you might find really good ballistic mathematic formulas in a book about football technique or a historical description of someone in a cookbook.

Mathilde thought she could beat the stacks, perhaps her greatest moment of hubris. Now finally caught up to her.
Hmm...

voters used this amazing transcendent boon from a wealthy dwarven polity on a library of all things.
Hmmmm.....

Karak Vlag (Transcendent): They know irrefutably that you risked your soul to tear theirs from the grasp of Hell.
HMMMM.....

Oh wait, Dragons. They should definitely have books on dragons, one of the towers used to be a dragon rookery.

Added.

Perhaps I've just missed it, but has the book hoard library started seeing extensive academic pilgrimage (for lack of a better term) yet?

With the way Mathilde's been raiding libraries it seems like it'd have some exposure to the right circles, and even if it's a long journey it'd still be better than screwing around with multiple trips to different ones if you're looking for something specific.

Not sure how viable this would be, but if I ran an academic institution capable of exchanging mail with 8 peaks I'd be tempted to station a scribe and some interns in the city purely so I could send them letters with research requests and they send summaries/excerpts of relevant sources.

Mathilde gave that a nudge at the end of this update.

Not sure where it would fit, but the Asur were a global maritime empire back when Laurelorn was part of them.

Would they have at least basic books on the world's seas and global geography. Atlases, maps of currents and prevailing winds, etc.

It might be mostly in the form of travelogues and memories of visitors from the cities that became Laurelorn who then went back home, or texts ordered from Lothern by curious librarians.

Added an oceans section, but the information they have about stuff on foreign coastlines might be of extreme interest to some but isn't giving a numeric bonus.

@Boney since we did dedicated work on the subject I feel it's worth the ask, is Mycology part of Old World Forests or would it be its own thing?

Part of Old World Forests. My thinking is that while there would be a great deal of value in a wider perspective on plants in general, the current state of science isn't there yet and the overwhelming majority of writings would be focused on a specific geological area.

What insight there might be on the subject would need to be shaken out of the Forestborn of the Ward of Storm.

I'm a bit surprised the Eonir have Asur: Skaven Warp Magic books, thought that would've been after the split.

They assisted Mandred Skavenslayer during the Skaven Wars.

Actually, thinking about the quasi-classical culture the Eonir have I'd expect Rhetoric to be a substantial subject of study, practice, and writing, with standard texts for students and formal schools and styles.

It's too insular, it's turned into its own sport slash art form.

Fs in chat for the death of Order.

@Boney two more subjects. First is Skaven: they helped Mandred out by guiding his army, and maybe they did enough other stuff with skaven to write stuff down about them. Second is Necromancy because of the HeroQuest event, though I'm guessing that's in all likelihood a one off, not something common enough to write books about.

Added Skaven (already had Warp Magic, forgot to add society), Necromancy would be a Grey Lord thing.

….

I like the idea, but added layers of rolls is a sort of crunch-heavy style of QMing that I'm bad at maintaining. Having Mathilde pull ideas from obscure corners of the stacks is the sort of thing I might end up doing narratively.

Wizards sometimes change their name. I doubt Sienna's last name was always Firenasus, same as I don't think Balthasar's last name was always Gold.
Balthasar Gelt is an alias. It is almost certainly not the birth name of the man who uses it. His real name could be just about anything.

Good to know. Maybe I'm just too used to, say, Star Wars where being called "Savage Oppress" or "Elan Sleazebaggano" or "Whorm Loathsom" or "Ima Gun Di" is fine and usual.
