The actual word for Longbeard in Khazalid is Langktrommi, with tromm straightforwardly meaning beard. I suppose there is some gendered bias in the language, that beards are far more prominent in it than plaits.

Ran into something the other day that I wanted to share.

1e Roleplay Stone and Steel, the sourcebook that is basically the only source in Warhammer Fantasy that actually talks about the 2nd-tier of Ancestor Gods, is also the only source I'm aware of that includes the actual Dwarf runes for words in it's lexicon on Khazalid.

Some of these are perfectly serious, some are obviously humorous pictograms, like the rune for Bok, the act of hitting your head on a low ceiling, literally looking like someone walking into a low ceiling.

And then there's the Rune for Doh, meaning someone that is stupid, gullible, or slow witted.

A pictogram of Homer Simpson, who's catchphrase is D'oh

...I'm catching up so I need to ask, is buying a mammoth possible with all this elf money?

Assuming you can find someone selling one, yes.

Imagine, if you would, what very eccentric and very independent and very powerful archmages might trade away for free research AP

All AP is free if the passage of time holds no importance to you.

Should this be longplaits?

No, he meant longbeard. Dwarven and human gender roles are very different and Dwarves wouldn't see the problem with applying a title traditionally associated with one Dwarven gender with someone of the supposedly 'opposite' human gender. Dwarves who know nothing about humans think that anyone without a beard is female and once they learn otherwise they tend plonk everyone into 'unknown' until they know a great deal more about humans. Khazalid doesn't have gendered pronouns so Dwarves tend to default to the equivalent of they/them for everyone when speaking other languages.

I for one choose to believe that Homer Simpsons was one of the Ancestor Gods, a peer of Grungi, Grimnir, and Gazul .... and no one talks about him because it's too embarrassing.

The picture didn't include a noticeable beard either, so maybe he was a little lacking on the facial hair side. I like to imagine that big beards were already prevalent at the time, but Homer was so embarrassing to be associated with that it really drove in the nail on how important thick beards are for the Dawi.

Blackmail only exists if it can be proved. Merely knowing someone is doing something illicit is not blackmail.

Arranging for a neutral third party to witness her wrong doings would of course reveal the ruse, but it'd be actually kind of hard for them to create credible but non-immediate proof that can be revealed at a later date. Even anachronistically video taping us could be shrugged at by claiming forgery, so it'd be reputation versus reputation.

Now, we'd probably get exiled if they made the accusation anyways because they're bigger politically, but we could tell our friends we were innocent and our social links probably wouldn't be destroyed.
They wouldn't be able to prove it, but it would still be a very hard blow to our credibility and the trust we're afforded by the Colleges. We would be watched much more closely by the Greys. And getting exiled is pretty bad Imo.

The Grey College would either attempt to execute Mathilde or do nothing IMO. The sheer amount of resources you would even need to dedicate on a constant basis to watching her is mind-boggling. What are they going to do send someone to chase the Gyro on shadow-steed? She is too mobile, too powerful and has her hand in too many matters of great import. If they do not trust her with that she has to die.

The main undecided portion of the vote is now whether The Elf Olympics or Apparition Chat with Sarvoi takes the fifth and final slot. There's a gap of half a dozen votes between the two and nothing trailing anywhere close behind them.

If you voted for both, consider which of the two you'd rather see.

While there won't be any spells, there may be apparition binding lore in the books we get. Depending on specifics we don't know, Sarvoi's knowledge about it could be redundant or add highly insightful context.

I expect boney to make it neat either way. I have no strong preference between elf Olympics and him. Slight lean towards Olympics I guess.

Technically I voted for neither on my last vote since I was focused on the Ithilmar so here we go

[X] [ITHILMAR] A copy of the Library of Mournings, including most restricted texts.
[X] Sarvoi

I did propose the Sarvoi vote, even though I do understand the people going with the time critical option over it I am not particularly interested in the Tournament.

This is quite correct. When deciding remember that Lord of Festivals is a limited time offer that will rapidly no longer be an option. A chat with Sarvoi is not. Or at least a lot less so.

All other things aside can we just agree that poor Queen Marrisith could use a holiday. Life Mathilde is coming at her fast:

2482: Get Message out to the dwarfs and their *checks notes* human wizard that you would like to talk to them about Waystone Activation
2487: Chisel-Fingers McShadow shows up and introduces herself with a Yar Matey. You presume cultural affection
2488: Waystone Project is officially launched
2489: New Tributary Created... new Tributaries, three options
2489: Spice Trade Established with House Yavanna moving them over from an isolationist position
2490: Charcoal Trade route is established though Norland... somehow. A smaller more chipper Chisel-Fingers is involved
2490: Construction begins on a Fog Bridge through the Schadensumpf that will allow vastly greater volumes to Trade with Middleland
2490: Invited to sign the Bokha Palace Accords alongside representatives of the Empire, the Karaz Ankor and Kiselv
2491: The first New Waystone built since the War of Vengence is erected. By some metrics it surpasses those ancient works.
2491: Lady Magister Weber rides into town with a crate full of Ithilmar and indicates she would like to talk trade...
:V

You forgot to mention that the spell used to create the Fog Bridge makes no sense and by all the known laws of magic it shouldn't work.

The queen would not care all that much I think, the same way she would not pay attention to her uncle muttering something about dead fish based magic transportation. Her job is political not magical. We do not even know if she is a mage herself or to what level.

Seeing it written out like that:

2487: Start Project
2491: Almost done

4 years is nothing.

But it's likely that more changes happened in the last 4 years, than in the previous 400

The detailing on the metalwork is extremely well done, the dull gold and steel palette hits the right balance between ornate and battleready.
Thanks! There's definitely more to be done, the base is barely started and painting gemstones is a whole other thing in itself (And Belegar has 11 total) so I might update in the future when it's fully finished.
