I kind of want Mathilde to become an innovator when it comes to constructing staffs. Imagine a staff that has a liminal realm bound to it; the staff itself acting as a control rod for all of its functions and contents contained within that liminal realm.

So, thinking about it, a liminal realm bound to a staff or set up as a bag of holding shouldn't be too hard.

1: rip the soul out of someone you don't like.
2: create a liminal realm bound to the soul.
3: bind the combo soul to an object.
4: ignore the metaphysical screams.

It'd probably be a lot easier with shysh or necromancy.

Here is a proposal for something to make:

Connect the Liminal Realm to a Carriage, preferably armored but doesn't need to be. Then bind a few Red Riders to the thing to defend it, with maybe a few pulling the thing.

Turn it into a mobile lab/base for research projects and while campaigning.

Get an item enchanted with the animus inprisioned and that takes care of steps 1 and 3, just need to bind the liminal realm.

No, I'm pretty sure you need the soul out and accessible when creating a liminal realm in it- need to physically overlap it with the AV after all. So I don't think we could use a soul already bound to an object.

Step one is a bit tricky whilst not being hunted down for Abominable Acts.

We can't bind them to objects, only souls, theoretically.

On a related note, I remember Boney saying that Mathilde's body gets in the way of any such attempt to put one in our own soul, so we'd need to have it removed and have the operation done by someone else, which is pretty yikes.

But I also remember Gunnars pointing at our mobile shadow and saying it was incontrovertibly our soul, as demonstrated by the Arcane Mark. So I'm wondering if we could attach a Liminal Realm to our shadow, specifically? Or has this been shot down already?

Accessing our personal storage dimension by reaching into our own shadow is peak aesthetic, too.

I'm pretty binding a Liminal Realm within our shadow would require Nehekharan magical knowledge for the proper theory. I think trading the soul knowledge with Cadeth if the Waystone Project is sufficiently successful is more viable. That or studying Vampires to see if we can stick it in our body the same way Vampires do their souls.

'Liminal realm' doesn't just mean pocket dimension, it's a section of the liminal barrier, the membrane between reality and the Aethyr, that has been hollowed out or burrowed into and used for living space. The Dreaming Woods are parallel to the forests, the Grey College is parallel to specific parts of Altdorf, Algard's towers reappear in the same place. In theory, and with some wiggle room for wibbliness, any given spot in the liminal barrier corresponds to a specific spot in reality, so trying to drag a liminal realm around with you would be like trying to tow a cave around for extra boot space. You might be able to do it if you reinforced the hell out of the cave and had an absolutely monstrous amount of towing strength, but the effect on the world around you from doing so would be pretty heinous. That liminal barrier has a job to do, and people don't like it when it stops doing that job.

The only real question mark in that roadblock is that a person's body and soul are somehow connected through the liminal barrier, and that 'break' in it is very demonstrably mobile, so maybe you'd be able to plant a liminal realm inside the connective tissue between someone's body and soul and be able to move it around. But without an extremely thorough understanding of the nature and malleability of the soul, the trial and error required would very likely do extremely unpleasant things to the test subjects. And you wouldn't be able to confine testing to creatures because the nature of their souls are so much simpler and would have much less room for activities.

I think cadeth does her stuff through being half a tree and getting access to the dreaming wood. And I don't know about you but Mathilde doesn't clock me as a tree in the school play.

Turn 29 - 2484 - They Go to the Land of the Ice and Snow
Notable Events: Mathilde meets Reiner Starke during anti-Chaos training. Ranald gently but firmly tells Mathilde not to look at him. Clan Moulder devices are just junk. Celestials warn us about Karag Dum and the Imperial Gunnery School. Mathilde sells the skaven swag for the secret behind Gehenna's Golden Hounds. Expedition leadership met and discovered to be a disaster in the making. Second dragonbone comes in, from a shard dragon. Johann got a staff, Max is getting promoted. Wellspring of Ulgu added to Grey Tower.
Chamon/Enchantment/Altar: Sylphic Wrath, by L.M. Eldrick (Gold), M.P. Manning Feldmann (Gold), L.M. Mathilde Weber (Grey), 2490.
Researching the skaven whips and then building a battle altar using them took the Gold College 6 years. We might not have to waste time researching enemy weaponry and can sub the AP/CF needed for power stones with an Ulgu morb but this also required the help and resources of a College M/Patriarch.

I wouldn't mind collaborating with Algard to make the ROW battle altar.

[JK] [NUMBER] One,
[JK] [BEHAVIOR] At Sufficient Velocity
The Rider will be flung with great speed towards a chosen target, then disappear after impact. Further launches will require the spell to be cast again.

If we're just talking about understanding of the soul then there is also the Cult of Gazul. We know they have deep soul lore and we would just have to swear their oaths for them.

Unless we manage to get a research team together consisting of Nagash, Gazul, and the Everqueen, I don't think we're going to have enough soul lore to manage a portable Liminal Realm.

Algard's towers use a liminal realm? What?

Honestly, I thought they moved around rather than always reappearing in the same spot and he was using some version of smoke and mirrors. It just made sense for a guy who went "hey, why not just move the sun for a bit so you can burning shadow more places".

I wonder how he made one. We should compare notes.
