With Thorek, we've only talked with the Runelord. About using AV in runes, and other magic stuff, but also the political aspects of being a runelord. His trouble with the guild, getting support from him through his apprentices, the secrets of the middenland dwarfs. But none of that was personal, the way it was with Kragg. There's a reason he's Grandpa, and that's because we had several social actions with him, and he's willing to let Mathilde be more personable/informal than just about any dwarf.
What I take from this is that we need to have a few ales with Thorek, sit back and shoot the breeze.

That the problem with these young'uns. Folk like Kragg know when to take a moment and engage on a personal level when someone drops a social action on them.
Uncle Belegar, of course.
Nahhh. Belegar's Mathilde's bro. They'd drop everything if the other was in urgent need, but they're on equal ground, each giving the other good advice on occasion.
We can have two dads!
"What is your criteria for adopting someone as a parent?"
"Won't allow people to burn me at a stake."

If Elf Dad can't come to our graduation, we'll just have to go see him during our vacation to The Happiest Place On Ulthwan. It's practically on the way!
I think we're going to the Haunted House. The Happiest Place On Ulthuan to me sounds like the the Kingdom where they make a point of being very happy and are just a moment from snapping and beating someone to death with an Eat Pray Love sign. Tiranog? Couldn't find the Boeny post about the Kingdoms.
(Yes, it's a disney land reference. I say it's still true.)

I agree. I'd like to do a social action with Thorek and get to know him as a person.

That's why Kragg is number 1 family after Regimand. He gave her an anti-burning talisman.

If anyone can learn masteries just by watching, it's Teclis.

Maybe! He is an elf though, and casts in a very different way. It'd be better if we could give him something we know elves can cast.
We can give him something enchanted with our versions of Aetric Armour. I don't know wheter he would use it or not but I think with an example at hand Teclis can figure out how to replicate it for himself.

Orbs just as Telics arrives would be one hell of a flex, along with Mathilde gettig Telics to come back people may want her to become in charge of the Colleges based off that.

I suspect that for as long as Teclis is around, who's in charge of the Colleges is "Whoever Teclis wants to be in charge of the Colleges". That might be Mathilde, but it might also be Dragomas - Teclis was pretty clear that he wanted the Colleges to grow and become their own thing, even if they'd always be his children, and letting them make their own decisions is part of that. Also, Teclis probably has strong opinions about forcing people into positions of authority they didn't volunteer for.

"What is your criteria for adopting someone as a parent?"
"Won't allow people to burn me at a stake."

"...Your criteria are both touching and concerning."

His own armor is probably better then what we could do right now... So let's make it comfy
"The armored bathrobe of comfort"
Sounds about right.

Its the one thing we have where I'm somewhat uncertain whether the HE's have it. I am 97% sure they do, but we lucked into it so randomly I'm convinced that there's a tiny chance they don't, or at the very least it is waaaaaaay up the tech tree and we've accidentally pole vaulted over to it.

Pretty sure they know what it is and can replicate everything it can do even if they don't have it.

It is high on the tech tree but it'd still be less high than the Orbs.

We'd need the We silk for a proper bathrobe flex.

I doubt anything Mathilde could give Teclis would be at all helpful in combating the effects if the Curse compared to what he already has, since the Curse is most likely Teclis!Quest QM's IC justification for not wanting to write too many expedition arcs in a row, and thus not up for discussion. Just look at how often the players wanted Teclis to ride out and do things instead of sitting down to paperwork, and that's after a lengthy expedition arc just ended!

That said if Teclis does finally turn up to finish what he started we don't need new spells we need him to teach us the bits of magical theory that aren't focused around optimising the production of battle mages.
On the other hand it has been like 200 years since last he was around so Collages should have figured out a lot of what he wanted teach by now. And if anything missing all he needs to do is give a hint there will be 8 hordes of scholars rushing to figure it out as fast as possible.

I think he still has a lot to teach but I think he might be pleasantly suprised with some of the stuff Collages figured out that not even Elves might know how to do.

I mean HE were interested in out Waagh and Peace Lectures and there is probably other stuff like that.

My point wasn't that the flow to Ulthuan is in danger or anything, but that Ulthuan's measurements can pick up the Stirland tributaries so they can measure changes in earthbound magic and thus could measure the change from the Kislev tributaries, and then they'll look at those readings and see spikes of decreased inflow and say "oh no, they broke something".

What I didn't think about and what I think you're right about is the fact the tributaries only pick up magic that has setteled for long enough to lose its Windy nature, so they should only collect magic that settled in Kislev and wouldn't have made it into the network anyway, but if that's not the case we could inadvertently give Teclis a scare.
On the other hand, they can apparently measure the energy in the Kislev network, so they'd see a corresponding rise in Kislev's network for each drop in the Empire's. I think Teclis would put it together.
My guess is that if Teclis can't come personally he'll ask Finreir, the surviving Archmage who came with him to the empire. Assuming Finreir isn't dead.
Finreir also has experience with the Old World outside of that expedition- 6th edition Vampire Counts says that he fought Mannfred's forces when they attacked Marienburg.
i do like the implication that Averland is considered suborned territory
What do you mean? Averland's magic goes through Lyonesse.

We dunno, it could be an entirely new way of doing things that nobody has stumbled on because this extremely weird situation of schrodingers snake in a box has never happened before.

I doubt it, but we'll see.

Given that we're talking about the massive Ulthani corpus of knowledge I wouldn't bet on it. + there's a lot of fundamental stuff that he seemingly hasn't mentioned at all that are weird to have left out without explanation.

They're frequently suicidal for humans too. But there are always more humans, and 'blowing yourself up in a way nobody has blown themselves up before' is a surprisingly common human ambition.
True, but humans are malleable enough to survive the consequences while I think an elf would just die.

Worse.

A human getting twisted by one of the winds so that they have a part of their soul transmuted into one of the winds is an inevitable side effect of their rise to power. Basically every magister worth their salt has a few arcane marks.

An elf getting twisted by one of the winds so that they have part of their soul transmuted into one of the winds is the end of their career. They can no longer become high mages. They are stuck. They have reached the pinnacle of their progress because they have picked up a scar that prevents them from wielding all eight winds in balance.

But humans don't care about that. Humans can't wield all 8 winds in balance. Losing the ability to do so is literally nothing to humans magisters.

I mean, technically humans with arcane marks can wield other winds. It's just doing so makes dhar in their soul, which as you might imagine isn't exactly good for their health or sanity.

I have the sudden image in my head of Teclis meeting the imperial family and unknowingly being the one to reveal to Luitpold that his son has magic.

Teclis, trying to think of something to say and remembering people often like to talk about their kids: "So when will Mandred enter the Colleges and begin training in magic?"

Welp. This is up there with the spoiler that "Mathilde is suddenly dwarf."
Elves are naturally slow to do things, but this might incense Ulthuan to the point that we might see some action soon enough.
