Anyway, yeah, I've edited my previous post with the two things I want to do right now, I just haven't decided what's best yet.
That being said.
Our role with the humans should effectively be limited as "Sheriff of Karag Nar" at best. The one who makes sure everyone plays nice, doesn't piss off the Dwarfs, keeps off the Chaos and Vampire forces, and generally makes sure human stupidity doesn't ruin this opportunity, but aside from that, we'd delegate ruling off to whoever comes up with the will and ability to do the job. It's a fair choice to take, and the simple fact of "If you start mucking about, you're going to have to deal with the scary Shadowmancer in the tower on the top of the mountain" is going to keep everyone playing nice, methinks. At best, this would be a tertiary role to play--operating primarily off of deterrence but also pivoting into our spymaster work.
Hell, if we're clever, we can actually make that our legitimate title as it's a much more PR-friendly way of saying "Spymaster" by dwarfen standards. "Oh, that manling is one he's relying on to ensure the Law is kept up among the umgi, reasonable enough." The best spymasters after all are the ones that the public doesn't know are your spymasters.
Our primary intentions though are going to be magical research and helping keep this newfound momentum going. The real issue is just figuring out what our third pick should be in light of that, and why I'm mulling this over so hard.
