I have to be honest I'm extremely torn between the cool monster options.

Taming/Befriending/Conquering the spiders for mounts would be hilarious and go a far way in improving the rather lacking mobility of halflings and dwarves. Just imagine, Halfling spider archers! Dwarven cataphracts on armoured spiders!

The same goes for the Lustrian eggs, although I think it's more in character (and practical) for Mathilde to give those to the Jade Wizards. I think this is the third(?) set of artefacts we send the colleges? Soon we'll have a reputation as a magical thrift-shopper sending cool stuff home all the time. We have other projects to occupy ourselves with anyways.

Mmm, being an internal spymaster will also do well in being able to put our coin to it while still being able to do research stuff.

Anyone else in favor of inviting Wilhemina to start making inroads into dwarfen trade, now that Eight Peaks is (sort-of) open? :D

Well I guess we're going to have learn the language spoken by the Lustrian Slann mages, if the concepts can't be communicated in a tongue that the old ones used I'll eat my own hat. :p

I don't much care for Stirland and I don't like the idea of going back there. But since our stuff is there, what I would like is if we would show up at Wurtbad via Dwarven Gyrobomber and leave like a boss as Roswita shows up to investigate. Just as long as we don't actually have to talk with her.

[X] Keep them to be hatched.

Idiocy to give them away without even knowing what they are. The Eggs could be Velociraptor like, T Rex like or Pteranadon like. Having our own Flying Mount would be invaluable. We can exceed Shadow Steed Speed. I for one would like more Familiars to Communicate through or Cast Spells through.

[X] Though your future relationship with the spiders is still unknown, they do appear to be a new species and you do have a number of corpses available. Have Esbern and Seija help you autopsy the creatures for a paper.
This suggests a future of investigation and study at Karak Eight Peaks, and perhaps helping Johann poke at Skaven technology.

A new "tower", enemy territory to skulk through, all sorts of trade and politics to observe - this place is worth a few years of being based here

Gives "our" ambers a goodbye present and doing something nice for one of the colleges is probably worth more college favour than giving to the zoo. The eggs will keep until Esbern and Seija are done with the spiders.

Vote for as many as you like. The three with the most votes will be selected.

[ ] Speak with King Belegar and King Kazador about the relationships and apparent rifts between Dwarfholds.

ASAP

[ ] Try to follow Johann, to see what he's getting up to.
Later, maybe

[ ] Join Karak Azul as they raid and scout in force the other portions of the Karak.
We'll be with them in their intelligence briefings.

[x] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
I want to hire a priest while we're in the Empire.

They can keep the credit on this one. They know where to find Max if they want to write it up formally

[x] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.
This is where our new labs will be. Heinrich might be able to put us in touch with a suitable Priest of Ranald for K8P.

[ ] All this time away has made you miss your friends, and you'll be practically next door in Altdorf. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
Just a visit to friends and making sure the EIC is ready for opportunity. Goes with picking up our stuff from the sunken palace. edit: scouting the peaks is more important and this is vying with it for the last spot.

[ ] Make a full report on the geopolitical troubles among the Dwarven Empire, even though some of it was said to you in confidence.
I don't think we need to be breaking confidences at this time. The best way to be trusted is to be trustworthy and we'll be working with these Dawi for a while.

[ ] You've been out of touch for a while. Linger in Altdorf after you visit the College and catch up with what's been happening in the Empire.
Not enough actions for this when we're not planning to work in the Empire for a good while. The college will no doubt tell us anything urgent.

We still have a job to prepare for. There's no guarantee that Belegar will even accept if it doesn't look like we're serious about it, aka doing something along the lines of it. In my personal preference that's being an internal spymaster.
Fair enough, but since I'd rather be an external spymaster I feel that getting up to date on thing in the Empire is fully in line with that job.

"Hah!" he scowls and wipes his hands on a rag. "'The Old Holds', they say. We trace our Holds all the way back to the Golden Age, whereas the Young Holds only grew to prominence after the Time of Woes. So supposedly we're the template of what a 'proper' Dwarf is supposed to be. But if you actually look at those Holds, it's completely different. Barak Varr is as cosmopolitan as any city I've ever heard of, Karak Kadrin thrives on trade with Ostermark and Kislev - they just built a canal for the former - and my own Zhufbar is the cutting edge of invention and innovation. What does that leave? Karak Azul, who until literally this week nobody but Karaz-a-Karak had any contact with? As far as I can see, the only 'Old Hold' is Karaz-a-Karak, who are so very keen to tell everyone to get to dying so they can cross out Grudges that they can't see, or don't care, that the world is moving and it is going to leave us behind if we don't adapt. Thorgrim's better than some, but he only really cares about innovation if it's new ways of setting old scores."
This may be his opinion, but I like his ideals of not holding back to the point of it being stupid.

So, how much does Mathilde know about greenskin psychology to challenge a shaman to a magic duel and have him accept without much risk of an ambush?

Dame Weber Presents: Experience of the Waaagh!
She can understand what's going on with the energies there, but basically has to explain it with the imagery Mork used in his own skull.
Dame Weber Presents: Experience of the Waaagh!
A side lecture hall in the Grey College.

You resist the urge to slam your head on the lectern. "No... not at all like that. I mean, it's just... ugh, the [Roit Proppa Scrap] wants you."

Frustrated at your inability- again- to communicate the alien nature of Waaagh! energies even in person, you reach out for Ulgu to illustrate the link. The dozing heads around the lecture hall swing round and lock on you. Ulgu fizzes in your grasp, boisterously reaching out across the hall as you try to demonstrate what you mean. "See, it's as if the [Waaagh!] energy links the greenskins, conferring common purpose" you continue, as the haze of Ulgu forms an energetic cloud over the heads of the assembled College members. "It's the essential nature of greenskins, distilled, then reinforced and amplified by the, well, the [C'mon have a go if yoo think yoor 'ard enuf] of it all." The audience is agreeing, enthusiastically- they seem to be grasping the concept with the help of the roiling energy, so you continue. "As I was saying, the [thas roit Cunnin to be so Brutal, it is] builds up and needs a [Roit Proppa Scrap] to... to..."

You're interrupted from your explanation by the unexpected sight of dozens of crusty old Wizards boiling out of the lecture theatre, waving staffs and fortunately still scabbarded [choppas] as they head off to show [them glowy arrogant gits] in the Light College what's for.

(Mathilde has invented a new spell, a form of Shadow Waaagh! What will you call it?)

[X] Make a full report on the geopolitical troubles among the Dwarven Empire, even though some of it was said to you in confidence.
This is... if we care about our standing in the Grey College, I suspect it's basically the most important thing that we could do. Mathilde's massive stack of dwarf favor is mostly invisible to them right now; they have plenty of evidence of how the dwarf appreciation for commanders/heroes who assist them is expressed, but that doesn't mean they really understand the scale of the dwarf rep she earned through this expedition and how significant it is.

She earned trust. She's the closest thing that the Colleges have ever had to an insider in the Dwarven Empire, and she can near-trivially learn or accomplish things that any other human living in the Empire would find utterly impossible. She can hold a casual conversation about topics that would make them normally clam up, she can buy almost anything they make, she can fill up her libraries with their lore, she can get dwarf permission to invest entire organizations with their precious, closely-held expertise.

But do the Colleges realize that? Unless she actively deploys these capabilities there's no evidence that they exist. Mathilde hasn't told anyone that she is now the top dwarfplomat in the Empire, or that if they really, really need rare dwarf knowledge of waystones or surveying or historical conflicts with the skaven she's got a line to that information (and will trade the Dwarf Favor it costs her for College Favor at a 1:5 ratio because she's not about to undersell her expertise).

Making a full report on everything she knows about the Karaz Ankor's internal politics will be a conclusive demonstration of her professional expertise as a diplomat and ambassador between man and dwarf, decisively proving the extent of her skills by showing that she has successfully gathered insights that no one has been able to access before (unless of course I'm wrong and there are drunken dwarf exiles in the Empire's cities who complain about this in detail all the time, in which case I'll feel very silly). It'll be proof, as well, that the Empire strongly benefits from having Magister Weber down in Karak Eight Peaks doing her thing and that they should leave her there, unless perhaps there is a major diplomatic incident with a dwarf hold in which case they will know "namedrop Magister Weber and send a messenger to get her ASAP, she'll be able to sort this out without bloodshed" is a viable strategy. And these are important matters which help prove Magister Lord worthiness, to boot.

But if we don't make a full report... what do we say? How much do the Colleges know about what our capabilities are in this arena? They will never know to call on Mathilde's unique field of expertise, and her staying in Karak Eight Peaks will feel like a much less valuable posting, a useful diplomatic thing but not the stunning coup on the part of the Empire's intelligence that they could be.

@BoneyM, can you comment on how much Mathilde will or won't tell the Colleges if we do not take this option, and anticipated effects from her point of view? It seems like a very serious decision that could strongly affect her future and standing all out of proportion to its apparent importance on this list of votes.
