So what do we think is Mathilde's problem child title among the Grey Lord Magisters?

Remember, it has to be things that we are actually known for, so no mentioning the Liber Mortis.

"Likes the Dawi more than the Empire"

My bet is that in a turn or two when they properly appreciate the scale, ambition, and momentum our library has, there's going to be more than a few factions reaching out to us. It sounds like each library answers only to itself, more or less, so there's got to be some library heads who loved seeing Nuln's noses tweaked.

They'll come to us.

I suspect this will require us to actually copy the books first.

Random thought on the Rune of Unknown, it would actually be a great thing to attach to some kind of special rune crafted ammo for a projectile weapon. Like imagine putting it on a special ultra-killy ballista bolt and then allowing the loader to summon the bolt back after firing the thing.

It's a melee weapon rune. It can be put on melee weapons.

Ahh my mistake, pity though because that would be rather useful. Best you can do is throwing axes or javelins then.
For melee weapons there's already the Master Rune of Flight which returns thrown weapons to the wielded and we don't know if the Rune of the Unknown can even be used to desummon a weapon you aren't touching. The only advantage the Rune of the Unknown would have is the reduced of risk of being bonked on the head by your returning weapon since the vanilla Master Rune of Flight doesn't return the weapon to the wielder's hand, just the wielder. This has apparently resulted in many Dwarves unfamiliar with this limitation accidentally knocking themselves unconscious.

On an entirely separate topic:
Broke Time And Claims It Was Deliberate, Quintuple Agent, Those Fucking Chaos Dwarves Still Sail Submarines Up The Reik To Drop Off Hobgoblin Assassins On Our Doorstep, Way Too Into Sigmar, Literally Stole Ghal Maraz, Left Naggaroth Worse Than He Found It,
So what do we think is Mathilde's problem child title among the Grey Lord Magisters?
So I think her problem title would be Don't Ever Make Her Choose Between Us And The Karaz Ankor Because We Won't Like The Answer, with runner ups of Uncomfortably Good At Analyzing Dark Magic and These Fish Keep Jumping Into My Boat I Swear.
Indeed, why should any sufficiently ambitious Lord Magister stop at one?
Broke The Wisdoms Asp For Aethyric Vitae And Claims It Was Deliberate
Tried To Quintuple-Face The Fourfold God. Twice
If You Think Those Chaos Dwarf Submariners Are Annoying, Wait Till Her Enemies Start Targeting Her In Earnest
Way Too Into Van Hal Dwarves Headpats Books Ranald (See Above)
Literally Stole A Gasmask The Power Of Mork Lots Of Money A Karak From Hell As Bycatch
Left The Under-Empire With One Less Warlord Clan Than She Found It

Regarding Eikes' education, what's the protocol around the 'Standard Curriculum' of the Grey College?

Would it be entirely down to us as her Master at this point, to have her take the 'have someone study something, you may pay for a tutor' action? Are there correspondence course she's already taking part in, or are the classroom lessons done? Not all these are probably suitable for Apprentices, but a few such courses have improved our own skills over the years.

Yes, that's up to Mathilde. The Colleges believe that the best teacher is a Master, classroom lessons are only for filling in gaps that the Masters can't or for when the Master is doing something too sensitive or dangerous for the Apprentice to tag along and learn from.

My guess for the Canal taking longer is that it's the same as in the Real World for similar great civil engineering projects :

It's a nice job for the workers so they're dragging their feets in order for the project (and their jobs) to last longer.

Dwarven vittles and dwarven silver, maybe a good guess.

I'm not sure if I've asked before, so I'll do so now: would Egrimm be willing to help co-teach Eike on Enchanting in general as a WEB-MAT action?

I generally agree that Panoramia should get some more time with Sofia before we jump into that relationship, for what that's worth, but I can't imagine her actually dropping below 5th place.
This is my feeling -- I think we should let Panoramia work out an equilibrium with this new fraught relationship before we go sticking our oar in -- but I certainly can't argue against the fact that it's super in character for Mathilde to be unable to resist nosing around, so I will just shrug ruefully and accept it.
It would either go very well or very badly. Mathilde's read on him is that if he sees Eike as worth the effort he'll give it his all, but if he doesn't it'll rankle him.
Interesting. In that case, I would say that we should include them on a different action (like the Windfall paper) and use that to get a sense of whether he thinks well of her.

Maybe we should try to get Eike and Egrimmin the same room first for a bit before we try assigning them to a group project.

Honestly, for the real world problems option it doesn't even have to be corruption or laziness.

Taking on a big project with a crew and company that doesn't do that regularly often leads to overruns because everyone has to figure out what they're doing or make new tools they've never needed before. Shows up a lot of times with big infrastructure projects like rail lines, subways, or nuclear power plants.

As long as work remains constant, the first big project on that scale of the Black Water has major overruns, but by the tenth or hundredth it's not only cheaper, but in extreme cases the crews have grown experienced enough for the savings in later projects to offset the costs and delays of the original.
