Had a random thought- so the training blade has the Rune of the Unknown on it (because that was the whole point)

So does Mathilde always have the training blade on her now? I wonder how she distinguishes between summoning the training blade and Branulhune.

The very original point that i have been defending was that Druuchi might have cool and interesting books from Cathay and Nippon cuz they raid them. Trading some gold for misc. esoterica could be neat.

Not sure where trading information about Empire came up tho.

I was wiki-crawling (as you do), and apparently, Kraggs master was a dwarf by the name of Morek Furrowbrow. Unless the wiki is lying, and unless there are two prominent dwarf runesmiths of the exact same name, then he actually really is a link to golden age, because Morek Furrowbrow apprenticed under Ranuld Silverthumb, a Burudin Runelord that predated War of Vengeance.

Of course, this is all just linked to novels, but its still pretty cool imho.
Furrowbrow is definitely Kragg's master. Says so in Dwarfs 4th, 6th revised and 8th editions.

I wasn't totally against it but I find the threads attitude very cavalier so will vote against it unless there is a really good plan and no other AP that is just as valuable.

Yes, The problem is whetever that truly is the same dwarf that the Ranuld Silverthumb trained. It would make sense honestly, Kragg living so goddamn long, when his master and his master before him had to be really goddamn old as well.

Also whetever you want to consider a novel canon.

Why people want to trade with druchii???

I want rare books from them, Cathayan and Nipponian books would be neat. And so would Druuchi books tbh, in fact I feel Druchii books would be rarer, like at the end of the day, Mathilde could ride on shadowsteed to Cathay (actually, does someone know how much this would take? Would it be possible for Mathilde to do it in 1 action?).

I was championing the trade yesterday and sometime between that and now the goalpost of druuchi trade changed from trying to see if we could snap up some of their Nippon/Cathay books that they got from raiding to trading information about Empire if i understand ongoing discussion correctly. I am not sure where that change happened but i absolutely do not agree with it.

Its one thing trading gold for goods, its quite another to trade actionable military information that could actually do damage.

It should also be noted, that helping Druchi killing rival Druchi isn't always a net benefit, even if it means more Druchi is dead. Because by that very action we are empowering the other Druchi. Now, that may be good, it may also be terrible. Just have to consider that it won't always be good for the order world to help Druchi killing their rivals.

One of them wants help killing rival dark elves, which means it's good to trade with her instead of bad.
They will also absolutely be using anything they gain, material or political, to raid other parts of the world even if they're not raiding the Empire. This will absolutely be making things worse for the world, even by the small amounts from trading for books.

If you want books from the other side of the planet, trade with the High Elves. They do actual trade a whole hell of a lot more than the Dark Elves do. You can get books that might've actually had their prior owners parting with them willingly. What's that? Mathilde doesn't have contacts with the High Elves? She barely has contacts with the Dark Elves for one, and for two the waystone project is almost certainly going to get their attention sooner or later, and for three she can make them on the Elfcation.

When we take Elfcation we should take an action to look at Lothern markets. There will be some stuff.

There is no way for Mathilde to trade with the High Elves except through Marienburg.

It seems I have to reiterate the Empire's naval policy:
Fuck Marienburg

It would make Morek 3000 years old by the time he trained Kragg. Which strains my belief a little honestly.

Actually if we are sending stuff to K8P we can trade tought the Barak Varr.
We cannot. The Treaty of Amity and Commerce means that Marienburg is the sole place where Elves trade New World Goods in the entire Old World, iirc.

Not necessarily. If Ranuld, a Burudin, category of runelords famed specifically for their immense age, trained Morek sometime after time of woes, it could make bit more sense. And even if not, Morek probably faced the same Dilemma as Kragg, except even worse. His master would´ve been not only a link to the Golden Age, but one of the oldest and greatest among them. When you are the sole heir of such personage, you can only take the best apprentice because of the sheer importance of whats in your mind.

So its entirely possible Morek spent three millenia waiting for someone like Kragg to appear, taught him all he possibly could and promptly died.

Its not as if Kragg is gonna kick the bucket anytime soon, and he is closer to his second millenium than his first too. So while three millenia is... a lot, its not really as much of a stretch. Kragg is half of that currently.

There's a fair amount of ambiguity, both baked into it (does the New World actually include Ulthuan?) and because of changing circumstances (the treaty was made with the Duchy of Westerland, which no longer exists)

And the High Elves definitely trade with Erengrad, Bretonnia, and the Southern Realms, so if it blocks anyone at all, it's just the Empire.

As pointed out, Mathilde has options the wider Empire does not. And once the canal is completed, the wider Empire will also have alternatives. Trading via Laurelorn could also become another of those alternatives if their relations with Ulthuan normalize.

The end result of stopping raids and killing dark elves will not be more raids and dark elves simply because some dark elves benefit more.
If they aren't raiding the Empire they will be raiding somewhere else, and trade with Mathilde/the Empire is probably not going to upset the balance of power enough to make a noticeable uptick in internal Dark Elf conflict.

The context of that treaty is entirely about trading with humans, not Dwarfs or other Elves.

We are trading at Lothern and once we buy stuff there, rest is just sending it to home at K8P. Unless said treaty bans everybody but Marienburg from trading at Lothern (which it doesn't) they can sit an spin on that treaty

Also fuck Marineburg.

Edit: Treaty says;
Be it known among all peoples for all time: that the Merchant Houses of Westerland are named the exclusive agents of the Elfs of Ulthuan for all goods of the New World brought to the Old.

Well if we are buying at Lothern it is not a goods brought to Old World no? It goes from Ulthan to Barak Varr. Old World is not involved even geographically.

Bee has the right of it, i think. I misremembered. The wording seems to suggest that Marienburg will only trade for western goods with ulthuan, not that Ulthuan will do the same. At least Lexicanum says so.
