A magical lake that moves around and only appears to the worthy. Something tells me Giles and company were not all the way in the real world when they took that sip,
The eponymous Lake is a lake in the Forest of Châlons, which is a real physical place, and In-quest we have Cadaeth remarking that the Forest of Châlons "belongs to a local Goddess". There's also the fact that Borek told us Morghur is a God, and Morghur is definitely physically present in Karag Dum.

EDIT:
1: ~Fun~
2: perpetuals
3: journey
4: magisters
5: lm and apprentice
6: battle
Clearly this means codifying RoW went very well, and it can now be cast by Journeymen.

Wow. Well then. Guess we know one spell Eike might have on her Journeying that Mathilde wouldn't have had on hers.
I guess I should have added a /s. I don't actually think RoW got knocked down to Relatively Simple.
My guess would be Eike's studies, actually. Roll for what kind of wizard she managed to find to tutor her in Petty Spells.
Her previous study session didn't include any tutor, except Mathilde a bit at the start. Maybe she critted or something and this is one of those "who helped her do so well" rolls like with Mathilde's crit on the quickdraw?

EDIT: actually, option 5 is "lm and apprentice", which kind of breaks the pattern of increasing rank/magical power with the "and apprentice" thrown in there. The only LM and apprentice pair that comes to mind is Mathilde and Eike.

If it is "Who helped Eike learn Petty Spells?", I'm sad it wasn't a 6 just so Eike somehow got a fucking Battle Wizard to teach her the weakest of spells in the Colleges. Like, who would she have even gone to for that? Fucking Dragomas?

Fair, I could maybe quibble about the difference between god and avatar, but I just thought of another one which seems to have a physical location, or at least had at some point in the past, Hashut, the Dawi Zhar broke into his prison.

Clearly the Battle Wizard would have been the result of her briefly going to Stirland (following us on the EIC business?) and somehow running into one of the wizards Roswita is still dealing with.:V

Um…
If that is what it looks like I'm really glad we didn't get the 1. That seems uncomfortably like the [6: The Sacred Number.] result of trying to mug Mork.

If true then that is absolutely amazing. Basically every Grey Wizard worthy of the Title just became a strategic movement multiplier. As anyone who has played Warhammer: Total War can tell you a follower that grants +10% March Speed is insanely valuable.

It might mean that Rite of Way now acts as actual ritual and so if you get sufficient amount of people of that combination, they may cast it like Light mages cast in choir, but its dubious to me.

It would be pretty awesome. But I do think that 5 option means it's probably not it - 'lm and apprentice' has to be "Mathilde and Eike", right? In what other context would it make sense for an option to have a LM and an apprentice in the same line? If this was a roll for who can cast RoW then "just Mathilde, and also maybe her apprentice one day" would be the worst possible result (except, perhaps, for ~fun~) and then I would think that it would be either the highest or lowest result on the table.

Maybe this is a "who's home" roll, like with the Skull River Ambush and Boney rolling to see who's present in K8P when shit goes down? Maybe something happened in the Colleges? 5 means Mathilde and Eike are there, 6 means battle mages are there, 1 means literally no one is there???

...is it somehow related to the tributaries? We need to recruit for ritual casters, is this a roll for who's interested in learning Scythian and working with water spirits for the next few years? ...Nah that doesn't make sense, the 5 result still makes no sense in that context and battle mages probably aren't an option for the ritual anyway.

I think there is a negative chance of it being codifying RoW, if it was if anything then it should have been reversed in, descending order of the minimum level to cast it.

I think it is something else entirely maybe another who is in a position to act when something comes up?

As much as I'd love it to be the RoW codification roll, one of the options does say "LM and Apprentice", and what kind of spell can only be cast by people with such a wide gap in skill and experience between them?

It might be a recruitment roll for the River Tributaries, but I thought we were going to negotiate with all the relevant parties (such as the bog priests) first.

And why would Eike need a tutor for petty magic that isn't Mathilde? Unless she rolled really weirdly, that is.

Yeah, this is probably a random event roll, and some journeymen are about to have a bad time.

Thread challenge:

You are Eike. Your Master just gave you a wagon full of charcoal just outside of Middenheim and told you to try to get it to Tor Lithanel. You have [money: yes] but are challenged to spend as little as possible on transport costs. What cunning plans might you have?

No vote on the best plan or anything like that, just brainstorm and refine ideas and any that look good to me in the morning will be transferred into Eike's head.

What everybody should be looking at and wondering is why Battle Wizard is 6 while Lord Magister and Apprentice are 5? Assuming that higher is better what this was rolled for was combat related.

There any rivers that run through laurelorn? B/c if so getting space on a river barge traveling through that river should be fairly cheap and get you a decent amount of the way.

Well my first thought is "wow particularly adventurous other merchants with 'The Prospect Of Getting To Visit A Wondrous Elf Homeland'" in order to skimp on transport costs right up until the actual forest itself, while also trading on the EIC name twice over to prevent herself from getting shit just straight up stolen from her.

This wouldn't be useful for the actual trade route itself but that's not the challenge set out for her.

Reverse the order and start in Tor Lithanel. Buy Elf goods and ask your sellers for aid in moving them to Middenhein. Use what you learn to move charcoal to Tor Lithanel.

Sell it to the Forest living Elves who will sell it to the City living Elves.

Go through Nordland and spin a yarn about how charcoal is actually taboo to these tree loving Elves but they have an obligation to buy it for some Elvish reason.

Pay someone else to figure out how to get charcoal to Tor Lithanel while spending as little as possible on transport costs.
