Personally I'm all for dumping Eike for 3 months with a victim tutor.
Options are!
Her grandmother (boring but safe)
Our wizard dad (not elf wizard dad, more exciting)
Belegar (safe but be a brain screw for belegar to twist)
Aunt Heidi (much fun to be had there)
The elfs! (Probably a bad idea)

It would admittedly be a hell of a power play to leave out apprentice with the Empress, but I do not think that is the kind of attention we or she needs.

Heidi: Be a dear and entertain Mandred for a while.
Mandred: Develops puppy love crush.

** ten years later **

Eike and Mandred get married.

Wilhemina, from Morr's garden: YISS!

She does not learn anything useful.
Nah. She develops the "Brave" trait

I do think that the Black Orcs action still makes a lot of sense at this point. Yeah, we're starting to get to the point where we have deliverables, but that just means that the kinds of benefits we could potentially get out of Bretonnia have also proportionally increased. We also really want to make sure that there are solid connections to the Vortex which ideally don't rely on Athel Loren, and Bretonnia are the ones to talk to when trying to get that worked out.

Also, Mathilde Mathilding all over some Chaos Orcs just sounds like something fun to read about.

Mm. I forget, did Mandred's College get decided yet? Because I'm imagining Eike entertaining him by telling stories about her apprenticeship under Mathilde and him getting just as awestruck as her.
Leave Eike with Kragg, what's the worst that could happen.
What, another cranky old person talking up Mathilde—not that he would ever admit that this is what he's doing—except this time it's one of the most powerful and knowledgeable magic-adjacent people on the planet? One who's seen her do even more crazy stuff than Eike's grandma has?

I'm sure that won't end badly at all.

Mathilde's fanclub gets another member, and Eike becomes even more determined to become a taller version of Mathilde.

That is not neceaarily true, it very much depends on what they have. It could be that we have already blown past everything Bretonia has and working with them at this point is just throwing away leverage we would have over them later... do do things like talk to the Asrai.

I think the asrai are a whole nother bag of trouble, and i doubt their arch-enemy (aside from chaos and beastmen) is a good spot to start talks from.

You know, we have been talking about shadow swords and how once we create the spell we can teach our swords style but I just found something rather hilarous. We can teach the style today! No need to wait, Because you see there is a collage who can make use of it already -which is not Grey Collage-. They have the spell for it and always had it. That collage? it is the Bright Collage.

It is rather funny that they can already use it altough it seem they have not already created a style with it which just shows a lack of ambition really.

You know... I give it a non-zero chance that SOMEONE in Ulthuan knows what we are doing with the waystone project and us going on the Elfcation would give them a reasonable chance to come talk to us about it. It could be a chance to rope the Asur into the Waystone project.

Mathilde: Here is a smol zhuf-human Kragg, you take care of her while I am away
Kragg: How young did you say you are?
Eike: 17
Kragg *increasing panic*: It's like throwing molten metal at your enemies, magic is unreliable, magic is born of chaos. SHE IS LESS THAN TWO DECADES OLD!
Mathilde:
*Returns to find Eike encased in artisanal runic power armor with the Rune of Adamant, the Rune of Luck and three separate ways to evacuate all magic around her* :V

The Asrai-Bretonnia relationship is a lot more complicated than just Enemies.

Out of every possible angle the Bretonnians are probably the best one to go through, not saying they're a good one, just the least bad.

Speaking of Asrai, Mathilde might actually be able to pick up some things from Wardancers if we ever get the chance, they're also generally devoted to Loec which could lead to some interesting places.

Kragg patented bubble wrap would be a sight to see.

I think Flaming Sword of Rhun might need to be recast every time you want it back after dismissing it, which makes rapid-fire flickering, especially in the middle of a duel, unfeasible. Any shadow sword spell we invent would have to be more like "lasts for an hour, with tangibility varying at will".

There is also Egrimm. Whom could we possibly trust with our innocent malleable apprentice if not him?

Enchanted sword handle that cast the spell for you would handle the speed problems. Plus it would look even more like Lightsaber.

Edit: No momentum dump tough so eh.

Didn't she start at, like, twelve-ish? :V

One thing we could assign to Eike would be having her act as the intermediary between the Library We and outsiders. Give her the task of negotiating something that would make the We happy and see how well she does.

What benefits are those?

If we figure out how to make waystones, we are at the point where they pay us to join. And i see no reason why we wouldn´t unless the foundation or putting it all together will seem impossible.
