[X] Skull River Ambush

Finding out who was behind this is all I want right now. Not knowing who was behind it is killing me.

Come on, help the poor lost children of the Empire!

Locals don't need need job the as they got plenty and they will be interacting with the orphans over time as the library is part of their community anyway.
Alms for orphans.

I'll....go with this one for scribes. Don't have much of a strong opinion on them

TEAM GRETEL UNITE!!!!!!!!!!

Also adding in Gold College and the Skull River Ambush to get an update from them, especially the latter. I know the Ambush is kind of not our business anymore atm (since we're no longer Loremaster), but I'm kinda curious about what's going on there and be nosy Mathilde as always :V

And oh yeah, I saw someone said that there are too many higher priorities to take Gretel as a social, so here's my counter-argument: That's been case for like freaking-ever, if not now then when? I'm not pushing to take her every other time she's available; I'm doing it 'cause I notice a severe lack of her compared to some other ducklings and I want to correct that. I also think that we could gain information from someone who's been hanging out in the Border Princes herself. So I am arguing a bit in a utilitarian sense, but also VOTE FOR OUR DEATH WIZARD DUCKLING TODAY!!! #notbiasedatall

I don't know how you could not pick this one.

[X] Gretel

Haven't talked to her in a long while, let's see what she's up to.

[X] Brief the Emperor

We have results that are strategically important. Further, we have results that have to do with the security of Reikland specifically. He really does need to know at this point.

A nuclear power plant is a well understood thing that anyone can learn around and interact with freely.

What? No it isn't. I don't even know where to begin with this.

And once again, I am talking about ownership. Who should own the Nexus, and be responsible for its maintenance, upkeep, and funding, and one of the reasons to go for the Elector is because he also owns the actual army and can fund it through taxes on the local population. He'll also be able to employ the appropriate priests and wizards and attach them to the garrison to physically operate the nexus. It just means that the nexus won't be owned by the Colleges or the Cult of Rhya.

And yeah, feudal systems suck. I don't think anyone has stated otherwise. But Luitpold is fairly sensible, Mandred is going to receive a wizards education, and anyone after that is either going to be fairly sensible or have a lot of concerned wizards and priests breathing down their neck all the time. And the only alternatives is theocratic management and the whole thing becomes sacred secrets and possibly lost again, or under the colleges authority and making them pay for the whole thing when we have an actual, semi-functional government right there who can pay for it instead.

This isn't about having thugs with swords in charge of delicate systems, this is about having a professional military force protect it from thugs with swords.

For the Library, I'm fine with either of these.

[] Max
He's been one of our best employees, only right to show some interest in his... well, interests.
[X] Panoramia
Be there for Pan, practically mandatory in my opinion.
[X] Gretel
I had to let Julia go, definitely not passing up Gretel in the same way.
[X] Sylvania
As per my reasoning earlier: check out if Nyklaus is up to keeping Abelhelm's legacy and Roswita's hard-won work safe.
[] The Black Water Canal
Somewhat curious about this. It should be done soon, if I'm not mistaken.
[X] Brief the Emperor
Definitely mandatory. The stuff we've learned since the project began is too important to go unsaid much longer.
[] Skull River Ambush
Some answers would be nice. Kind of funny that Karag Dum got some before this.

All the things I am interested in.

I'd expect the opposite, Dwarf scribes exactingly copying books the way that their ancestors did, not this new-fangled 'press'.
There's a rune that lets you convert speech to text but only in Khazalid. Rule of Pride would prevent it from proliferating and being used by every scribe, but some of the most prestigous Loremasters probably have things like that up their sleeve. Even Dwarven stubborness has to come to terms with the reality of the Guild likely being understaffed to manage all the work that 7000 years worth of documentation requires.

Brief the Emperor seems to be holding a lead. I suppose we have enough results to brief him. There's a bunch of topics we can broach and it does look promising. Being able to tell him that we have working tributariy prototypes would be nice, but I do have to note that we haven't exactly erected any yet. We'd literally be telling him "we have a workable ritual for setting up tributaries", and if he asks us if we made one we'd have to say "No, but the theory is solid".

Thankfully we have a ton of other things we could mention, such as improved trade relations, greater knowledge of the Eonir's inner politics, progress on intersectional politics, and most importantly of all, the Vorbergland thing. Literally everything else is an appetizer compared to Athel Yenlui. Knowing the source of his province's fertility and knowing that it's the only recourse the Empire has in case Marienburg falls is incredibly important, and I imagine he will immediately mobilise resources to secure the location. I imagine whoever the local noble is might take issues with that, so maybe he'll be more diplomatic about it.

I do not think that is the case. We had casting rolls, which means something was created, at least that is how it sounds like to me. @Boney does casting the ritual to see if it works means we have a tributary, or I suppose three of them?

Shouldn't we have done at least 3 by now?
One per ritual.
They might not be anywhere useful, but the rituals are tested and should have made working tributaries in the testing.

You know, I really wonder about the orphans option:
You can take your pick of literate orphans from throughout the Old World, and train them up from scratch to guarantee their loyalty. Reikspiel, Tilean, Estalian, Kislevarin.
It doesn't say teach the orphans ltieracy, it says that we take our pick of literate orphans. But I have to question how many there are? Like, we've had constant arguments about literacy rates in this thread, many of which I've been involved in. The consensus, established by Boney, is that literacy rates are incredibly low, and even cities have the "literate person" to read things out for them. And that's for adults. Now we have to not only find literate children, but specifically literate orphans. Literate kids are skewed towards middle to high class, and for people like that, if they end up orphaned it's likely they'll be picked up by a relative if they have one. Which is usually the case for nobles unless the whole house is dead.

It just seems like such a hyperspecific list of requirements that I'm not really sure if we can really take our pick.

Check in with a couple Ducklings we haven't checked in with lately, see Pan on her big day, inform the emperor of all the exciting news, and see how Thorek is getting on with the elves. Sounds good.

I'd like to suggest that we strongly consider the Druichi diplomat action.

Yes, they're horrible people that we don't like, but they're horrible people that we want to keep an handle on, and who we really should consider trading magical information with. Something like Waaagh and Peace will reach then eventually, so we might as well trade it for magical information they have access to (potentially that belonging to other cultures they've raided). Any Druichi information can probably be vetted with that one Grey Lord will would enjoy dunking on a Druichi plot to pass off sabotaged info.

It should also synergise nicely with briefing the Emperor, as gathering more information on the Druichi and their potential relations with Laurelon could well be important information for him.
