Zhufbar is a dwarf hold and can make some elector counts look poor in comparison; I don't think they need the money.
One of the two groups contributed a war-band (led by a Thane that saved our lives before) and a vampire hunter that landed the kill-shot on the Ghoul King; one of the groups contributed a single priest. Who is great, that priest is a cool guy!

But generally, I'd rather pay the party that brought dozens of expert warriors armed to the teeth on our say-so, even if their house is nicer than the other guy's.

We silk sheets are fine and all, but at the end of the day they're just sheets. These, on the other hand, are prestige, collector's sheets with a proper story behind them. Ain't no one gonna have sheets like ours.

Mathilde's ultimate decision about what to do with that cabinet has been left in the ephemeral realm of the unstated, where headcanons and imaginations can flourish for the readers that are so inclined.

Hi.

:)

_---------_---------_--------_

"Oh, Mathilde! You're back! So soon, and uninjured! I heard Johann was a mite singed, I'm so glad to see you well! But what is this? I thought you went looking for books!"

"Panoramia, my darling, you know that's only ever the cover story if everyone *thinks* they know why I am doing something! Here, let me just get these... chests... In, and there we go, door closed, and [privacy assured].

"So there I was, deep in the bowels of the wreck I made of Castle Drakenhof the last time we tangled. Covered in bits of bowel from a brisk little ambush where I added a second stirogi skull to the collection and kindly provided a way for the celestial magisters to get in on the giant skull-chair game. And as I strode-"

"Strutted, more like, it sounds."

"Shush you! I'm telling a story! And I'm clean now so you sit down and let me sit.... Ah. Where was I? Oh yes- as I slunk about the tunnels shoving books into my bag I got to thinking. 'Mathilde,' I said to myself, 'you've got a really nice girl waiting for you back in your nice mountain tower, and you haven't gotten her a gift for when you come home! So what would my little Panpan- ouch, hey!- what would that shameless hussy from the college of- ow! Ow! Ow! Ok!"

"You going to play nice now?"

"No promises. So, what can one get in a dank ruin that really says passion and powerful ghyran? Behold!"

"Mathilde, what did you bring me? And before you answer, consider that sitting on me has some already demonstrated vulnerabilities."

"No, I actually do think you'll like this. See, of all the vampire stories and all the horror, there's the classic love story where von Carstin first married into the empire's nobility, leading one to consider: one of the most famous sex-nests ever built was in that castle. And I found it."

"You mean!?! Ok, up! Now I absolutely must look. Let's see... Silk? Raw silk?"

"Bedsheets. Giant silk bedsheets with a history, freshly cleansed."

"Oh how naughty!"

"That's the least of the three surprises. Look underneath."

"Three? ...oh. Oh! OH. Oh goodness, thats generously proportioned for a small horse! And this harness would just go on like this... So many options! Whips and paddles and... Is that a set of Knight's spurs? It is! Looks brettonian, do you see how there's spiked wheels that turn at the ends? I wonder what they used them for! Surely not simply playing knight and dragon, there's such better gear for evoking that! Here, even.

"But I seem to recall you saying you had three surprises for me. And believe me, I'm very much looking forward to enjoying the first two. So, what's the third?"

"Well, there were the sheets, the cabinet full of toys... And some very lacy bits of nothing, the best example of which I've got on under my robes right now. Would you like to see?"

Live a little folks. Seriously. The sheets are the very nice, very expensive kind. The We silk is, realistically speaking, not coming in are lifetime. It will have to pass dwarven standards. And that means testing. Centuries/ Decades of testing. We can claim a perfectly good set right now. One cleaning and there golden.

Edit: Yo, QM with the most. Could you please add a option for the here to unnamed contents of that one cabinet? Please? The Omake above my vote has given me ideas!

I just don't think the notes on the ring are worth it. If you have the plans to a superweapon that only works for your enemy, there's a lot of incentive to burn them so it can never be recreated. Plus, like, out and out article violations.

You're missing a bracket on your vote, so it won't get counted.

I am absolutely appalled by the vampire sheets wave sweeping the thread. Are we going to go back to our library with our book haul and tell our librarian that we decided to give up on their sheets in favour of some dusty rags we found in a basement? Is nothing sacred? I think I'll have step away from the thread, I can't bear to look at this travesty.

(gotta say I like how the thread has easily agreed on every issue except the one that has no practical signifiance, Parkinson's law of triviality in action I suppose)

Boney's already mentioned the status of the cabinet:

It's in limbo and will remain unexplored except for the imaginations and headcanons of the audience. Boney keeps things at the implication stage as a personal choice.

Meeting Vlad and having a chat about the contents of that cabinet would be a hilarious distraction in combat.
Potential in-your-endo approaches infinity.

The primary reason we were waiting on We Silk was for new Wizard Robes AFAIK, not sheets. Well, sheets too, but they're not the reason we've been impatiently waiting so long.

I just really, really dislike the thought of passing up the chance to own something that belonged to a major historical figure like the OG Vampire King (and Queen). Regardless of what that 'something' is.

Handling We silk was passed off to the humans of the Karak, humans who we gave a bunch of elven textile books to not too long ago. We silk sheets aren't likely to be that far off.
