My understanding is that the "shadowrealm" is flat—like, 2 dimensional flat—and that to exist inside it you first have to "inflate" it.

Which probably isn't something you can do in battle, and you can't carry a shadowrealm with you, but if you can prepare a location in advance you have a fairly defensible position to strike from. Could be useful in the future.

I mean it would probably only work in places where there is a liminal realm and not just the screaming edge of reality that makes Pit of Shades. Good for the Forest of Shadows, not much good in other places.
Fair, though given the College is located in that screaming edge of reality it's obviously not completely impossible to survive there. The question is whether Mathilde has enough magical power to shield just herself, rather than a whole College.

That might not be a part of Drycha's technique. Though.

We're very good at countering but idk what kind of bonuses we'll be up against. Attack sounds like we'll get caught up in it, dragonflask sounds too slow. I'm all for counter.

that's one thing, but recognising someone you meet once before? in an active fight?

that's a bit much.
If you see someone and have the time to soak in their appearance and you know they've "Wronged you" then it's likely you'd remember them. If you treat wind sight as just magic sight, then it makes sense that you'd remember someone you met once before if you actively despise them. I can still remember every detail about those who've made me really mad.

On the other hand, that pocket dimension was created by Teclis to be habitable. But I agree that having our house in something like that would be super awesome.

I wonder when we'll get the results from making Queekish for the Dwarves.

There's probably a chance for hitting allies on a natural 1. But well, natural 1s always have chances for bad things like that.
Edit: Or not. Good to know.

I am very glad I was asleep for those rolls, I've got enough stress in life as it is. This way I get to skip the stress and go straight to the update!

With inhuman speed it twists in mid-air to avoid the swing of Branulhune, and what would have been a fatal swoop turns into an ungainly tumble as it skids through mud and leaf litter. Ljiljana turns with a fistful of ice, redirecting her stream of frost at this new foe, and it is forced to skitter backwards on all fours to avoid it. Heads turn and a cry goes up as the Kreml Guard notice this unexpected intruder behind their lines.

I imagine this just about solidifies Ljiljanaquest's opinion on Mathilde as their favorite Imperial Wizard.

@Boney If we used the Dragonflask and Ljiljana decided to throw an ice attack at the same time, would those interfere with each other in a way that reduces the effectiveness of both spells? (Since fire and ice are kind of opposing)

The Dragonflask is kind of a bulldozer. Worst case scenario, it completely disrupts whatever Ljiljana's trying to do and still hits Drycha at pretty damn close to full force.

Something to note:

Within the fallen trunk of a dying tree, the writhing fabric of reality is slit open and an avatar of embittered wrath wriggles forth, ephemeral spirit solidifying into the substance of the tree that allowed it entrance into the world. Glowing eye sockets lock onto Ljiljana as the being silently wrestles itself free of the trunk, and then it leaps with outstretched talons, flying right into-

Drycha's spirit seems to have possessed a tree to manifest in the physical world. If we just nuke that she might be able to escape.

getting wooed to the Dragonflask.

I think most of the best parts for magic will be in her upper body. (probably wherever the 'core' is.) so the legs might not be any good for staff.

but take what's safe might be the order of the day..

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure from that description whether Drycha brought her physical form across from the limnal space, or whether she used the felled tree mass to make a new body on this side.

... man, I just can't see a reason not to use the dragonflask in this scenario.

Well, maybe to save it for the treeman, but that's wounded, surrounded by angry woodsmen and about to be hit by the Winged Lancers.

Dragonflask might make it harder to tell if she survives or gets away at the last moment, but I'm not feeling too worried about that.
