I don't want Mathilde to take the credit because first: Alric's salt is going to be bad enough, and second: as much it makes sense for a Sylvanian to be involved with running after a former elector count turned Chaos cultist I'd still like to lay low for Heidi's sake.

Also, I haven't forgotten the way the Longshanks didn't give Mathilde any shit for being a wizard (in comparison to her treatment by Sigmar's Witch Hunters), so yeah. Sounds like a neat contact to have.

Turns out, having half your soul be a wolf makes you receptive to the energies of the Wolf God.

Who knew?
Frankly at this point I think Mathilde's just divinely conductive by dint of having been conducted through so many times. Poor lady's experienced more than a lot of high priests.
"-and of course no acceptance speech could be given without first enumerating the entire lineage of Kragg The Grimm, whose wonders have enabled all my feats."
"And the We, I mean, can't forget them. They've been stalwart allies to Karak Eight Peaks, which in turn means they've helped Kragg The Grimm out by extension, and I suppose since the We eat Orks, and experiencing the Orks myself helped me with my research-"

Does 35 become a capture? Or does he try and escape into a warp portal or something?
Seems hard to believe he could escape Mathilde with just his upper torso.

He'd just sorta lie there for just long enough to technically count as having survived the initial blow before expiring from massive shock and blood loss. Mathilde had stacked the deck enough that even with Slaanesh at his back he started in a pretty awful position.

A grateful Mira seems useful. Also it gives Alric someone besides the Empress to blame for our showing up.

Plus, that means Mira will get the credit for the very thing intended to be Alric's comeback project. He'll be in agony.

He's had it coming, though. Dude shouldn't have threatened Mathilde's favorite Empress.

Honestly the 6 on the information roll was really useful.
I see no issue with using them to obscure our involvement, and they really aren't so bad.
I also like the refrain of Mathilde dealing with those she dislikes by showering them with gifts.
Elector count fired you? Kill the vampire that is after her.
Followers of Sigmar? You are going to be given credit for great things and your going to like it.

Mathilde disdains Sigmar, and has been treated in a manner she considers disrespectful by his Templars on this case. I think this choice doesn't fit her character, even if it does have some benefits that would make it a good choice in a vacuum.

[ ] Yourself
[ ] The Order of Light
Both of those options draw attention to things we might prefer not to. Does Mira want it to be publicly known she sent a Grey Wizard to sabotage Alric? Do we want it to be publicly involved in this matter which we want people to think about as little as possible?

[ ] The Longshanks
This is the coward's choice: no clear drawbacks. I support it. They also deserve the credit more than any other group (other than perhaps Mathilde herself), if you care about that sort of thing.

With a moment of concentration and a few muttered syllables you appear behind him, and Branulhune passes in a neat and perfect arc through Alberich's neck, sending a spray of blood over the Longshank who was heartbeats away from having his own spilled, and a head rolling across the cobblestones.
"Nothin' personnel, kid."

Great scene, and great conclusion. Obviously a shame to miss out on accomplices but with what we currently know it seems worth it.

No kidding. 4/10 to insta die. 1d100 to find how much of his body was removed anyway.
Feels like he had something like a 1 in 10 chance to even get to the chance to escape.
Alderich had pretty damn good luck this turn, the only bad roll he had, Mathilde also rolled badly. If it weren't for the longshanks clutch and Mathilde interrupt he might have actually managed it against all odds.

Just goes to show how much the deck was stacked that his degree of luck couldn't save him.

We don't even know if he did that :V

You're right, of course, that Alric was likely just waiting on more evidence, and that as far as he knew Heidi might be a perfectly legitimate concern. Honestly she kind of is!

My real grudge against Alric is his insistence on sabotaging the Light Order as an institution for his personal glory.

But that's too respectable a motive to gloat over. Gloating should be a bit petty.

Far from me to participate in discussion here. But let me just add my voice to the few that are saying that we should keep our eyes on the prize.

Get in, get the goods, get out. We are here to make sure none of this spills towards the Empress.

This is more than enough to pay for the Goodwill of the Light Order. Longshanks are not a useful ally for the Waystone Project. And stroking Mathilde's ego with another victory won't really be that useful.

Be wary of the reflex to go for "Sigmar bad". Begrudgingly use them as "the brick wall they are", if that makes you feel better. But keep the eyes on the prize behind all of this.
Yeah, these are my thoughts as well. Sigmar bad doesn't matter, what does is preserving Heidi's secret. Mandred's a bigger dunk on Sigmar anyway.

That went well. Let's hand credit to the Longsharks- we can't keep it without undue attention, and they are the second most deserving of our share of the credit.

Also, I look forward to Mira talk.

"So I investigated."
"You mean you cleared out a mayor threat."
"I merely ensured that my intelligence report contained nothing but good news."

You know what, even if we do take credit, let's use our ridiculous money to buy all the longshanks who helped us Eonir bows/armour or something. They deserve the fancy.

Next time we fight something slaaneshi, I'm sure we'll finally get the anime slash down.
Anyway, I think longshanks? Templars if we are still worried about Heidi, but I can't really assess the risk there accurately. Alrich might try finding out more about the case out of desperation and sucees, but I don't see anyone else looking at the matter again beyond looking for others working with Alberich.

Who will get the credit for the death of this unknown but powerful Magus?

[ ] Yourself

Pros:
-A bunch of favors, possibly a Great Deed
-Mostly in line with what Regimand knows of our claimed objective.

Cons:
-Draws attention to why the Grey Order is here, which may produce complicated followup investigations about Heidi.
-Alric will remember this.

???:
-I wonder what the heck the rumors will make of a famous Grey wizard just suddenly appearing on the streets, cutting down a cultist and then howling before vanishing again, only to reappear later to cut down the cultist again.

[ ] The Order of Light

Pros:
-Mira WILL be offering up some benefits if we give her full credit
-Alric will focus his ire on Mira.
-Wholly in line with what Regimand knows of our claimed objective
-This option best protects the Heidi information, as all actors would be moving with discernible motives.

Cons:
-We'd be getting less stuff than we could get directly, think of it as laundered favors.
-Alric would be able to find out eventually WHICH Grey Wizard was working with Mira, so we aren't home free.

[ ] The Longshanks

Pros:
-This is basically our introduction to the Longshanks, and if we give them full credit on their turf, they'd love us.
-Nobody will look too deeply:
--Those in the know: The Longshanks are the beneficiaries of a Grey Order plot that they prefer not to get associated with, which is nice.
--Those not in the know: The local Witch Hunter order catches a Chaos cultist on their turf. In other news, water is wet.

Cons:
-We aren't getting anything ELSE out of it.
-This doesn't match our cover story to Regimand very well(though not completely impossible, if we're keeping a low profile and credit the local authority, but its not usually Mathilde's MO), he might go poking a bit.

[ ] The Templars of Sigmar

Pros:
-The Templars of Sigmar are a pain in the ass for a wizard to build a good relationship with, so its worth a bit more than Longshanks
-Those not in the know would find it a nightmare to pry any info on it out of them.

Cons:
-This looks pretty odd to well, everyone not in the know, what the heck is a Templars of Sigmar operation doing on the turf of the Longshanks?
-This looks sus to some in the know:
--Regimand - How does this fit the cover story of using this to fulfill a deal with Mira?
--Longshanks - What's the Sigmarites doing sending wizards for their operation?
--Templars of Sigmar - Why did this Grey Wizard show up and do us a favor unasked before disappearing? They're professional paranoids, they'd probably investigate.
-All told, probably the most exposed Heidi could get of all the answers, though not by much.
