I'm not sure sending the Ancestor worshipping Imperial Magister to talk to illegal mages and/or cult priests is the best idea.

He's actually really personable and less intimidating than a Uglu aligned Lady Magister.

Besides Mathilde would likely just grumble at Sigmarites in Khazalid - which will provoke some interesting reactions since she has been declared a dwarf by Thorgrim Grudgebearer - but probably wouldn't be conductive to diplomacy.

It's worth remembering that Johann has the same learning score as Max does, in addition to his better intrigue and diplomacy skills. He's not dumb, and there's plenty he can do in terms of actual research even if he doesn't have Max's Amanuensis trait.

Next turn, I won't mind using the EIC to send spy's out into the Border Princes, it's an are often overlooked and has Waystones no one is looking after or would miss.

The Cult of Taal and Rhya have knowledge of the Waystones for the same reason the Jades and Amber do. All three are descendants of brotherhoods and nature cults that stretch back to antiquity, a history no other cult has.

Being a musclebrain is no problem if you've got GLORIOUS GOLDEN GUNS.

But yeah, Johan seems to get hit hardest by the fladerization stick.

Adding support for [] Plan WEB-MAT & Culture, despite my plan currently winning. Went with the AV action over the culture x2 because not ignoring Egrimm was the priority, so I wanted to keep things as similar as possible to the then-winning plan, and didn't think there's be enough support to get over the line unless AV was in there. But now that I see WEB-MAT & culture picking up - which is identical bar the swap of forestborn for AV - I find I prefer that one. While AV is super-interesting I want to learn about the elf-culture more.

edit: would remove my vote for my own plan, except I suspect that would mess with the tally given I'm the originator of the plan.

also I don't want to appear that we support cityborn more than the forestborn especially since are every move will be watched if we only immerse in cityborn culture their a pretty good chance that will be interpreted badly by forestborn

I'm sure it will be fine to immerse ourselves in nobles one turn and forestborn the next turn. I kind of presume Elves are a bit more patient about things than humanity due to their very, very long lives.

[X] Plan WEB-MAT & Culture

[X] Plan WEB-MAT & Max Research
-[x] JOHANN: Have Johann spend time getting to know Kadoh, who has expressed an interest in meeting the 'fist metal-Mage'.
-[X] EGRIMM: Study an artefact: Golden Arm
-[X] MAX: Go through every library of the Colleges you can access for any scrap of information about Waystones.
-[x] Attempt to bring a Karak's Runesmiths into the Waystone Project (Karak Azul)
--[x] COIN: The Gambler
-[x] Furnish the living spaces of the Waystone Project HQ (600gc)
-[x] Immerse yourself in the culture of the 'Cityborn' Toriour inhabitants of Tor Lithanel
-[X] Immerse yourself in the culture of the 'Forestborn' Faniour inhabitants of the woods surrounding Tor Lithanel
-[x] EIC: Have a blackpowder factory built in Wurtbad.
-[x] SERENITY: Observations of Karag Dum and its unusual guardian

Here's an edit to the WEBMAT plan, which has Max doing college research into the Waystones, now that Boney's clarified that waiting for more colleges isn't really necessary.

[X] Plan Redshirt v2 with Divine AV with nice living space
[X] Plan Redshirt v2
[x] Plan Windherding: Crawl now, Run next turn
[X] Plan: AV and Culture requires roughing it.

I'm just so Damn tired of everyone ignoring our long term projects in favour of the next shiny thing.

I really really don't want to vote for anything that doesn't windherd or move us toward being able to windherd with WEB-MAT, but I know that the "only one non-job action" crowd is decently strong, and people want to get Divine AV done now so I suppose I'll approval vote to get Divine AV out of the way:

Yes, that's right, this plan literally doesn't bother with the living space at all. It leaves working out how much to spend on our accommodations until we have a better idea what the cultural expectations are, and can thus judge what we should spend.

All current members of the project are entirely able to rough it, and the dwarves won't be able to see the living spaces until after they're recruited, so I see relatively little harm in it - it'll look eccentric if we're called upon to host, but in immersing ourselves in the culture so much I expect we won't be hosting, we'll be being hosted.

Oh, and another version of the plan I'd somewhat prefer, but expect to be less popular:

[X] Plan: AV, Enchantment Training, and Culture requires roughing it.
-[x] JOHANN: Have Johann spend time getting to know Kadoh, who has expressed an interest in meeting the 'fist metal-Mage'.
-[X] EGRIMM: Learn a skill - Enchantment, whether basic or advancing existing knowledge (Costs 1 CF)
-[X] MAX: Go through every library of the Colleges you can access for any scrap of information about Waystones.
-[x] Attempt to bring a Karak's Runesmiths into the Waystone Project (Karak Azul)

I don't like that the leading plan ignores AV again. I want to see where this research goes!

[X] Plan Don't Ignore Engrim

To be honest I think the winning vote makes too much of Mathilde as a person in the eyes of the elves. We are not doing those cultural actions because we must show our interest in both political faction lest the loser cry bitter tears into their silk pillows. We are doing it so that we have some sense of who is who and as a bonus do not end up eating desert with the salad fork and end up looking like the savage most them think we are. Mathilde is not inersing herself in elf culture for heir sake but for her own

Yeah I'm on board with this variant too.
