[X] Plan Don't Ignore Engrim
-[X] JOHANN: Have Johann spend time getting to know Kadoh, who has expressed an interest in meeting the 'fist metal-Mage'.
-[X] EGRIMM: Study an artefact: Golden Arm
-[X] MAX: Go through every library of the Colleges you can access for any scrap of information about Waystones.
-[X] Attempt to bring a Karak's Runesmiths into the Waystone Project (Karak Azul)
--[X] COIN: The Gambler
-[X] Furnish the living spaces of the Waystone Project HQ (600gc)
-[X] Immerse yourself in the culture of the 'Cityborn' Toriour inhabitants of Tor Lithanel
-[X] Investigate how the Vitae reacts with Divine Magic.
-[X] EIC: Have a blackpowder factory built in Wurtbad.
-[X] SERENITY: Observations of Karag Dum and its unusual guardian
I'll support it, the golden arm my not be waystone or windherder, but its definitely weird and rare. and lets him know that this is going to be a different experience.
His name is Egrimm.
Could have sworn it was Engrim, but apparently not. OH well, don't want to change the name after people started voting for it.
We could ask him to study enchanting? If he's not already at battle-magic tier enchanting he can always learn more, and then we'd definitely have an enchanter to windherd with, without having to recruit another wizard.would have gone windherder, if we knew for sure he knew enchanting. don't want to risk it until we can confirm that.
I figure we'll be working with him for 6 months this turn, during which we'll probably learn what his skills are, and will know whether he is already able to enchant or not. So better to just wait the turn and find out, rather than invest a fairly uncertain action. We'll probably want him doing something most/all turns, we'll have plenty of other opportunities. We could ask him to study enchanting? I mean there's an amazing combo at Fiendishly Complex enchanting - Eyes of Truth + Pall of Darkness makes a patch of darkness that you can see through just fine, but no-one else can at all. And the glowing of your eyes doesn't make you visible when it's within Pall of Darkness.
I still think being able to set them on long term projects makes sense. You're coming at this from the entirely wrong direction. Don't think of this as 'what is the bare minimum amount of effort we can expend to keep the Wizards in their pokeballs'. Wizards are a scarce, expensive, valuable resource and Mathilde is going out of her way to snatch them up, taking them away from the good they would otherwise be doing for the Empire. If you don't have work for them, don't hire them.
I still think being able to set them on long term projects makes sense.
if lets say for example, we wanted johann to go ruin diving in another part of the empire to follow a lead. that might a year (two turns). and we set 'journymen underling 4' with him as back up.
both of them should be out of the list for those two turns.
or we put max on studying 'the golden arm' but its taking him time and his full effect. then he as well will be 'off' the list until he is done.
the whole point of a collage over a research team is that you can offload the management of stuff to reliable underlings.
It's not though. "-[] Investigate how the Vitae reacts with Divine Magic." is still in the Engrim plan. It's hanging with the Faniour that got kicked off.I'll not be changing my vote, because of course AV is the option getting kicked off.
You'll want to take the X out of there, you just overwrote your vote. It's not though. "-[X] Investigate how the Vitae reacts with Divine Magic." is still in the Engrim plan. It's hanging with the Faniour that got kicked off.
His smile vanishes. "None," he says with a sigh. "Alric likes to use me as a troubleshooter, so until I make Lord Magister or Mira takes over again, I'm stuck cleaning up his messes - and that's if he's not outright preventing me from advancing so I have to keep doing so. So no doubt I'll have at most a few weeks to potter about in Altdorf until he sends me off on some new errand." He grimaces, then forces himself to relax. "And you?"
