Phew, finally got this thing in some semblance of order. Man, you guys gotta stop having things that require in depth posts for each Elector's Meet

Elector's Meet of 2325, Part 6
Imperial Tax Raised To -250 Per Turn.
Eyes are upon you, with looks ranging from support, through curiosity, and all the way down to simmering hostility. The last comes from, not unexpectedly, Adolf. The man will never be your friend again, and barely even your ally. He's mostly neutral towards you, outwardly and how he treats your province and its own actions. But when vampires come up, like in this case, you can see the seething inside. The memory of his daughter, of all he lost to vampires and necromancers on your behest, all of that still smolders inside of him. You are not the most capable diplomat, but you are a very knowledgeable fighter. The pulsing of the vein on his somewhat aging forehead, the look in his eyes, like someone across the battlefield getting ready to try and kill you.
"All right. So, vampires," you drain your mug of ale and don't quite slam it down onto table. "You've all seen them, you've seen the papers. You all know that they infiltrated Ostland, may have – likely have – infiltrated your own lands."

There is a scoff from somewhere, but you don't catch where.
"You've seen them!" you insist, "So whoever just made that noise can shut the hell up, because they're there, like it or not."
"Or it's just your lands," Winkler says with a shrug. Winkler, of all people.
"The issue is not that we cannot believe you, but the issue is whether or not we should," Leitdorf speaks up, his hands folded in front of him. "After all, it is not as if you haven't had…peaceful," he waggles one hand, "dealings with them before, right?"
"What are you talking about?" you narrow your eyes.
"Genevieve of Bretonnia, of course," he bares his teeth at you in something that could not quite be called a smile. A burst of murmuring goes up from everyone assembled, though your eyes instead shoot over to the grimacing face of Adolf. "What, did you think we wouldn't find out?"
"Adolf." Magnus's voice is quiet, yet cuts the smirk on the Count of Averland's face out from under him. Adolf's grimace grows more pronounced.
"What use is an oath of secrecy if we are openly acknowledging the vampires amongst us?" the older man grouses, though the withering look being levelled at him from multiple sources is encouraging. "I felt that the others should know after we saw them."
"You had no right," you snarl, but of course that was probably the wrong thing to say.
"I had every right!" Adolf bellows, slamming his fists onto the table, his skin turning a very ruddy red. "I stared into the abominations face myself! But you, you allowed it to take my daughters face, her soul, and then let it walk away after killing dozens just like it!
He did not just say that. Johanna was, is your friend no matter that she is away in Cathay by now. Even as you rear up, rage tickling its way through the underbelly of your veins in a way that you have been bereft of for many years now, Magnus and surprisingly Grand Theogonist Gottfried are faster.
"Do you dare so deny the efforts and wisdom of my predecessor!?!" Gottfried bellows, a far change from the wispy man you last say, "Did you think I did not pray for years afterward to Sigmar for guidance, was left unanswered?!"
"The fact that you still treat her as such shames me more than you can ever know, but the fact that you compromised operational security over this matter is shameful in an entirely different dimension!" Magnus's voice cracks out like a whip.
"What does it matter, it is known," the Talabeclander leans back in his chair, folding his arms. His eyes narrowed almost to slits, his ire focused not on you for once but on the Emperor and Grand Theogonist? How many people can he blame for what happened to Johanna? Your mind whirls back, almost idly, to thoughts of the times before Magnus, which you were actually alive for. An Empire broken by ire and competition, grudges and ambition.
"It matters for several reasons," you bite each word on its way out of your mouth, "But to answer your original question Leitdorf," your gaze settles onto the man who looks quite earnestly surprised at the minor storm he just set off by trying to be clever, "Genevieve is blessed by Sigmar, she calls His light to her at will, and she is gone from the Empire, gone and away. Both Magnus and Ansgar questioned her quite nearly to the pain and found her worthy of consideration. She had nothing to do with the vampires who sought to subvert me, who seek to subvert the Empire even now."
"So it is true then," Winkler cups her chin with one hand, "You have had peaceful relations with vampires." The usual twinkle in her eye is gone entirely now.
"Two vampires," you run a hand through your hair, "Two of them, that is all, and only because they proved worthy enough that bloody Sigmar," and damn it doesn't that just make the priests in the room twitch, "didn't burn them to tiny little crisps. Two of them. The other ones, those in the basement, are not the same."
"The precedent has been set, however," a quivering voice comes from Albert Pfeifraucher, the Count of Wissenland. The same man who looked – out of all of you – the most queasy during the brutal interrogation of the vampires. "Who is to say whether or not we could have more peaceful relations with the vampires?"
"To the warp with that!" Gottfried growls, "For truth, Sigmar chose the vampire Genevieve for his blessings, but we all know that the vast majority of her kind are monsters beyond any other recourse by death!"
"Aye!" the cry goes up amongst most of the Electors, though you really don't like the way Winkler tilts her head and Albert blusters.

"One point of the matter," heads turn as you barely regain control over the conversation. "Regarding the rumors surrounding me. They are untrue, and are nothing more than the work of these vampires, their allies, and simple misinformation."
"How can we be sure of that," the Arch Lector from Talabheim, was is his name… Heinrich you believe, sneers at you as he speaks. "Your wife, a foreign priest and a sister to a foreign ruler, and you make no effort to disguise the taint in your daughters, you openly consort with the witches every time you visit Altdorf."

Fury explodes out from your heart, and you only just barely prevent yourself from rearing over the table and strangling the bastard. Even still, the table goes quiet and you watch the flicker of fear arise in the eyes of the fucking Arch Lector.
"Do not speak of my wife or daughters that way lest you wish to be known as the tongueless Arch Lector," you hiss.
Well. So much for keeping a lid on your temper. Luckily, you don't have to say much more, because the moment you finish speaking others begin on your behalf. Kron, though his own religion takes against magic quite heartily, is likely just happy to yell at a Sigmarite for all of the cooperative work the two Cults have done recently. Stephan and Ortrud, the first who married a wizard and the second who just brought in a small group of Jade Wizards herself, lend their voices to supporting you. Others, surprisingly, do so as well. But the one who surprises you the most is Adolf. Who nearly sabotaged everything you had been trying to accomplish you, he now too is beating the table with his fist, throwing an accusing finger at Heinrich. One of the few things that may connect you to your elder Elector is being a father, but in this one case, it seems enough.
A flat palm thumps once against the drakwald oak of the table like thunderclap.
"Arch Lector Jung. You shame yourself with such vile words," Magnus says into the sudden silence. "This discussion is to regard the true threat that this vampires and their web may pose to the Empire, as evidenced by their work against Count Hohenzollern. This is not the time to level threats against children, who by all accounts are nothing more than the perfect students of Lady Draken."
"They are touched by magic!" the Arch Lector spits, which only makes you want to beat him about the face with your steel arm even more, only for Gottfried to snarl.
"Was it not the magic of the Bright College which saved my own life and that of the crusade forces in Sylvania, Jung? Magic is a curse, but with faith and training it may be levered for the betterment of the Empire. I agree with the Emperor, this is not the time nor the place for a discussion on magic, we are discussing the matter of vampires, and vampires alone!" his eyes nearly blaze with furious light. Considering that he is the Grand Theogonist that is actually something that he can do, now that you think about it.
"Honestly, if you think me so corrupted, Jung, I'd rather submit myself to the testing and trials of the Emperor and Grand Theogonist to prove the falsehood of such accusations rather than let it continue."
The words fall out of your mouth faster than you can take them back.
"Such tests would by quite trying indeed, Count Hohenzollern," Gottfried strokes his short beard. "But if you underwent such a thing it would surely burn away any credence of the falsehoods you claim are being levied against you."
Well…shit. You can see it in Jung's eyes, in that of the other Arch Lector as well. They don't think you'll do it. Doubt in the eyes of the other Elector's. Gods, even after everything, all the proof, even first hand of seeing the documents and the vampires themselves, there is still doubt. Belatedly, only now do you on some level realize how effective the network that these Lahmians possess is. In such a short time they've done…this.
There's nothing for it. You have to clarify here and now.
[] Be Tested: Not only will it be a major time commitment, who knows what the experience might do to you physically and mentally? It would essentially destroy the rumors, but you would be required to stay in the south for far longer than you otherwise would. Even though it would likely require quite severe testing, and despite your bravado you know that having both of them peel out the layers of your mind and body would be rather….excruciating. (???)
[] Not Right Now: Karak Ungor is coming up soon. There are too many things that require your attention, too many right now. You can negotiate something like this later, but not right now. It's not like it would completely surprise anyone if you refused right now. It would confirm what the Elector's think only for you to prove yourself later. (???)
