Now I'm wondering as we took the Beast ark, what if any unmutated beasts and beat eggs did we gain? I'm talking those Raptor Cold ones, Carnosaurs, or anything with the help of Amber, wood elves, and High Elves would we be able to train or use in some form?
cold ones are really terribal no one besides dark elfs and lizard men are silly/immune enough to ride them
(The Dark Elf Cold One Knights must cover themselves in the poisonous saliva of these beasts in order to ride them. [3a] The Dark Elves also use two of the beasts to pull Cold One Chariots. Long-term exposure to the powerful poison destroys the nerves of the skin so that the knights have little sensation)

no reasonable person is gonna give up there ability to feel through their skin to ride a animal that is marginally better then a good war horse and far outstriped by a imperial demigryph

I mean this "battle" will enter even the Asur history books because daam the druichii got mauled. How long it took in the end? you know from their beaching to the retreat a day?

The amount of death nagaroth suffered in this timeframe probably eclipe decades. Probably only the Asur the Dawi and mabe grand Chatay made a similar fate

I wonder how salty the Dawi who built the defences are gonna be about their loss, it's well known they take great pride in the stuff they make.

Basically because they are big on keystone defense instead of layared defense. Sure it was a rush job to be on Umig time but it was very rude of the elgi ship to not just blow up when it hit the external wall.

Jokes aside they would be annoyed but the fact an arc hot beached and the druichi got bleed here would moldify them a bit. At least on this quest the Dawi understand why humans do things this way, it is antinatural sure but well they are not dawi.

I'm assuming between Wood Elves and High Elves there is a better option. Because lets face it the Lizardmen are likely immune, and/or don't care because of their programming. Meanwhile the Dark elves never gave a shit enough to find another way either. Cold one riders don't have enough pull for DE magic users to do anything but laugh at them. But that is still one of a dozen different beasts on the ark.

As mentioned before, Stephan essentially said 'please, come onto my shores, and try to get down through the forest' and then utilized Eonir forestry experience and Nordland forestry experience to 24/7 harras, skirmish, and ambush the Druchii as they tried to penetrate deeper into Nordland after finding out that somehow every single coastal settlement had been evacuated beforehand. There was nothing to plunder, only buildings to raze, but those can be rebuilt, so the Druchii kept trying to march deeper, looking for all the humans to kill. They've raided Nordland before, after all, they know what they're doing.

But then this raiding band disappears. Then this one is found shot dead full of arrows. Then another band of riders is shot apart. A flock of birds flew over an encampment that was in the process of being built and had bombs dropped all over it. Assassins, sneering, disappear into the trees proclaiming that they will ensure the enemy cannot harass them like that anymore. They do not return. A sorceress is about to kill a group of Nordlanders and their pathetic little human magisters, and then finds herself crushed under the weight of multiple Eonir mages who are in fact older than her and willing to use both High and Dark Magic. Stronger force concentrations are sent out, proper armed blocks, guarded by powerful warbeasts, with harpies scouting the skies alongside Dark Flyers on their Dark Pegasi.

They find themselves ambushed by Nordland artillery parks, spotted for by Eonir scouts and shrouded magically by Eonir communing with the wood and casting their own spells, blown apart while treemen and tree-kin come stomping out of the trees, while cavalry strikes them from behind.

Stragglers are allowed to flee.

Into the forest.

The Druchii, enraged, begin setting fire to the forests around them to deny the enemy cover. This happens to massively enrage the wood spirits, who begin marching out in greater strength. While the Druchii are distracted with them, Eonir and Nordland troops continually back them up with ranged fire, riding skirmishers close and firing and retreating, and so on. The Druchii are not allowed to rest, not allowed to recover, as their enemies continually cycle their troops, literally attacking them day in and day out, and when the Druchii try to chase back after them, the literal trees move and they disappear into them. When they don't, and the Druchii think they have them, coming down the roads, the forested sides of those roads end up to contain more troops, creating constant crossfires of arrow, crossbow, bullet, and cannon. After the harpies and Dark Flyers are terribly reduced in number, Eonir war hawk riders wielding fire arrows empowered with Aqshy from their mages start appearing at night to begin attacking the Druchii ships, including the bigger ones. If the Druchii try to hunt the enemy down with superior numbers, the camps and supplies they leave behind are attacked. Nordland and Eonir will rather shoot a single arrow and scratch a Druchii and retreat without taking any casualties themselves than try to get into protracted fights. The Shackled are wiped out early, utilized as meat shields as the Druchii try to get to grips with the enemy, or actually get them with their own ranged weapons.

The raiders are raided, endlessly.

The war beasts are fully unleashed, and the war beasts are felled by concentrated artillery fire while other troops hold off the Druchii themselves.

Yhanna Sunweaver, High Spellweaver of the High Realm of Laurelorn, confronts the Supreme Sorceress Xenatha Nightscreamer, and outright defeats her in a magical duel in one of a handful of actual protracted fights involving four digits of troops on the battlefield.

Stephan von Kessel openly reveals and identifies himself on the fielding, causing Fleetmaster Vorthal Nightfiend to order a great effort to capture him to try and break the spirit of the enemy, only to be caught in an ambush, and despite cutting his way free to escape back to the shoreline, ends up dead along the way as the collective knights of Nordland charge after him and his retreating force, cutting him down amidst the scrum, no one knows exactly who killed him, due to the state of his remains.

Due to the raiders standard tactics being dispersal and plundering in individual bands, it takes some time for them to reflexively reform back to a concentrated armed force as they begin altering gear and tactics to prepare for a much harder fight than they initially anticipated, especially after taking so many major casualties. Individual raiding bands are all called back, and the Druchii discipline begins reasserting itself. No longer can the enemy harass them from the skies or the distance, as they start building static defenses, start hauling Bolt Throwers off the ships to boost their defenses.

The forests get closer, and bombardment begins at a distance.

A day later, the whole of Nordland's armed forces are present previously, not including those elsewhere in the province, charges the beachheads at Norden, which is where all the ships have come after losing dispersed ships at other settlements. At the same time, the Eonir arrive with the rest of the Fleet of Nordland which has been hidden in Laurelorn territory, shoved up the rivers to be missed at the shoreline previously. During the battle, Stephan von Kessel and Crow Feeder are credited with killing the remaining Fleetmaster who was attempting to rally the Druchii, and then slew the Sea Dragon of the Death Fortress that Fleetmaster Nevis Duskreaver was commanding from by leaping from the castle's walls and onto its head - or, more accurately, plunging himself through the dragon's eye sword-first. Naraiel Dawnstone fights off a quintet of Khainite assassins at the same time, as the assault krakens are goaded halfway onto the shore. One is brought down through concentrated artillery fire, the other has forest dragons shove multiple blasts of sophorific breath into its open beak, paralyzing and slowing it long enough for Naraiel's other troops to manuever around it and kill several more Druchii. Meanwhile, the Silver Manticore charges for the beast and kills the assault kraken with his Tooth of Tlang.

The Druchii do not begin attempting surrender until the vast majority of them are dead, for various reasons, ranging from refusing to do to humans to not realizing how many of them were dead because of how fast the battle was. Around only a third of Druchii losses occurred in the fighting up until this point, with 2/3 killed in a single crushing battle of Nordland+Eonir hammer and anvil. The forest dragons do not release burning or acidic breath, but it is quite effective nonetheless at silencing Druchii and warbeasts without overly harming the ships. Some of the helldrakes and sea dragons escape out into the Sea of Claws, but many others are killed by brave Eonir and Nordlanders.

A massive amount of Druchii ships are captured.

Stephan says 'mount up.'

Then they all turn around on their ships and begin sailing east, leaving behind a token amount of troops to make sure that the forest spirits don't get a little to blood drunk with the amount of corpses and what not left behind. Bloodglade has the two assault kraken bodies, even.

Nariael says 'we can go faster, so we will.'

And so the Eonir Spellweavers and the Imperial Wizards collectively reach up and grab the Winds and say 'We're going to Ostland NOW.'

And then they showed up and decided to ram the collective Fleet of Nordland which took a bare handful of losses in the previous fighting and all the Druchii ships they captured into the collective ass of the Black Ark known as the Eternal Fortress of Torture, beaching and invading them en masse, while the majority of the Ark's fighting capacity was elsewhere i.e. at the walls of Salkalten.

As mentioned before,
As said, this will go down in history as some of the best generalship ever! No one in Nordland will disrespect Stephan and his family after this. He wanted a big military win? He most certainly got it.

I would not mind if Stephan got more famous out of his than Freddy since he preserved his province and forces much better than us, and then took a black ark. All we did was survive two of them until they retreated.

So Freddy and Stephan took the others roles from the nordland war with one holding out against all odds and the other being the big damn hero.

God what ever did we do to deserve such friends.

They've raided Nordland before, after all, they know what they're doing.
I mean, they say that and I know the Dark Elves have, but uh...

Did the Dark Elves forget there were Wood Elves up there? Have none of them ever had to deal with pissed off tree spirits before?

There's Deep Strike, there's Lightning Strike, and then there's teleporting an entire navy into the enemy's rear.

Plus, I'm pretty sure that with how often the north of the Empire gets hit with random massive invasions, those spirits should hopefully realize the local humans are now their best way to get ludicrous amounts of meat.

Hey @torroar? I was going over the casualty list for the Dark elves, and I figured I should ask because I don't think I've ever seen these before, but what exactly are Dark flyers and Dark riders?

They some kind of snake monsters that dark elf's use in a similar vein to Cold One Knights?

I mean daam this make the northern imperial coast a hard target, we probably will need to start fortifying to keep our sea line beacuse only the most stupid norscan raider would not go for us now.

Did the Dark Elves forget there were Wood Elves up there? Have none of them ever had to deal with pissed off tree spirits before?

The Eonir have had to deal with a handful of Druchii raids here and there, mostly desperate and overly ambitious ones who thought elf slaves would fetch higher prices - and to be fair, this would be true regardless. But the Druchii haven't really ever tried to properly invade Laurelorn, which means they've never dealt with mass numbers of Wood Spirits before, because outside of Laurelorn there are scattered amounts of Wood Spirits. Like, a copse of dryads, a singular treeman, a trio of tree-kin, here and there, mostly in the forests, whereas the majority of Druchii action against Nordland has been at the coasts, never penetrating super deep into the province before.

The Druchii know what it is like to face a massive Wood Elf army before, but that was Ariel herself stomping up towards Ghrond to tear Morathi a new one, and by that point she was so off her rocker that she didn't have, IIRC, a significant amount of actual Wood Spirits with her. Just a whole lot of Asrai. Not the same expected thing. They knew that there were some ties between Nordland and the Eonir, but were uncertain as to how fully the Eonir would deploy. A few bands of elves to kill? They know how to kill elves.

The two groups that have, historically , had to deal with large amounts of angry Wood Spirits before are Bretonnia and the dwarfs of the Grey Mountains/Vaults. Not the Druchii. They've dealt with all sorts of esoteric shit, obviously, from thousands of years of conflict with Chaos, Naga, Asur, Dwarfs, Lizardmen, etc. Armies of daemons and such even, too. But not, specifically, Wood Spirits.

But again, having raided Nordland before, the majority of those raids avoided Laurelorn, focusing just on the humans, and the Druchii that poked at Laurelorn didn't really show up again.

Dark Riders = Druchii Light Cavalry, pillagers+scouts+skirmishers, basically Druchii versions of Ellyrion Reavers. Dark Riders

Dark Flyers are essentially that, but on Dark Pegasi. Often the much richer, higher placed, more powerful/politically potent Druchii by comparison.

So Nordland was Imperial Vietnam for the Druchii... until Stephen had enough and turned it into the Battle of the Pelennor Fields (Rohirrim charge and all).

Meanwhile, Salkaten was just two clones of Leeroy Jenkins thrown into a cage match while drugged up on enough meth to kill an ogre; I think the entire battle was over in like a handful of hours lol.

Also:
slew the Sea Dragon of the Death Fortress that Fleetmaster Nevis Duskreaver was commanding from by leaping from the castle's walls and onto its head - or, more accurately, plunging himself through the dragon's eye sword-first

These are the kind of things that cement a reputation for life; taking on massive dragons/hydras/krakens with cannon and siege artillery is one thing, but going off and soloing a monster 100-1000x your mass with a sword is, uh, something else. With Frederick it's kinda expected given he had a griffon and a history of these insane moves, but man the Trident is showing off what they're capable of today.

I'm kind of dreading how Freddy's friends and family are feeling right now, since they are aware at the very least the black ark retreated with them on it and with no reasonable means of going after it. It would suck to feel so useless in that situation, just hoping for the best and trying not to dwell on the worst.

As it stands, Magnus is Ostland Elector Count and will have to take charge until his parents are rescued/return. That is a lot to dump on him all at once, especially since will have to deal with the clean up of the battle and whatever the heck is happening in the Middle Mountains.

After all, we have no idea how much time IC our time on the Black Ark will be.

Even worse, Magnus doesn't have the Runeblade. That's a major loss in prestige. Even worse his detractors will say, it didn't need to be. Frederick went off and got himself killed, the Runeblade lost for nothing. He already won the field, and then went and charged an evil city for no good reason.

I have to imagine they did know there's a concentration of Wood Spirit buddies where Ariel lives, since there's off and on ties between them. So the moment some idiot decided to set a wild fire to vent about a bad day, and suddenly every tree grew screaming faces and claws the size of great weapons, the navigator for the expedition was promptly stabbed multiple times because why are we suddenly in Athel Loren?

All those elector counts that hate the Trident are all gonna have a whole bunch of swallowed pride since while they left to fight a great foe and answer the call of Allies, they can't say that the boys back home rested comfortably did they. Nordland and their fleet will be just fine from this but Ostland's whole dock got their shit kicked in regardless, even with the W.

Speaking of how's the whole Orc thing going with the Perpetually Cranky?
