most military innovation that does not kill will likely become available for civilians i can see Ostland start selling bicycles to its own people and export them to the rest of the world
Same with steam once we work out the principles behind the Steam Tank and/or when Anna finishes studying Miragliano's combine harvester.

Between those two and Salkalten having switched to an assembly line model of production a few years ago, we are slowly but surely starting to industrialize.
You do realize the bicycles got delayed for guns and better shredding machines? Not too killy bicycles expected to be?
The designs for the Alcohol Engine were gifted to us in secret by a Dwarf who was hoping that his designs could have a positive impact on the world instead of collecting dust in the patent office of the Dwarven Guild of Engineering for the next couple of centuries.
We are also exporting our shredding machines to other parts of the world for the sake of keeping those parts of the world intact and paying us. In addition to using said shredding machines to shred enemies ourselves.
This means it is very much in our interest to further develop our shredding machines.
Also, the main downside of the Alcohol Engines, being higher maintenance, is mostly a non-issue with our high-income provided we restrain ourselves when buying priceless antiques for a while.

Meanwhile, bicycles are a cheaper alternative to horses that can be used as impromptu barricades.
Ostland has been too heavily forested to develop a good Cavalry tradition for most of its history and we have just started a horse breeding program intended to fix this(though said breeding program still limited to the Northern March due to the sheer amount of forest in our province). The former means the local demand for horses is low in Ostland, the latter means the demand for alternatives to horses is low in Ostland.
We also have a fair number of defensive options(with the Alcohol Engine affecting the Deathspinner and the Hornfist being in development with the intent to proliferate them and boost the armour of our Human state troopers even further). Which re
Basically? We took a bunch of actions that kind of reduce the impact of bicycles.

Ceterum censeo sylvam delenda est.
I'm actually more interested in their design, and the requirements needeed for decent military application. Imagine if gear change is figured out, tire treads, or we copy some of the principles of the way Steam Tanks move off-road onto the bicycle. Next step, Steam Tank Construction!
Wooden wheels work off-road for Steam Tanks because Steam Tanks are larger vehicles with larger wheels. And larger wheels are better at absorbing shocks(which is why the Penny-farthing used to be a popular bicycle design).

*Whistling soflty* Well damn. We did it.... that damn thing is gone. but man what a price comes of it. but hey at least it gone. And now its time to celebrate. Hopefully Natasha wont kill frederick again.

Color me not surpised RNGesus rolled poorly with the fuerbachs.

Can't say much seeing as I was unable to vote, but let me reiterate. next time, take only one action that needs a DD.

You're not wrong, but we rolled a 16 on a 50+. Having the DD on it wouldn't have made a difference. Sometimes you just have to take actions, even if they are likely to fail. And while normalizing relations with Talabecland would have been nice, it wasn't a lynchpin of our agenda or anything.

Yeah, that's RNG though. We needed a 50+ but with a DD we could've rolled 30 and gotten out.

So saying "Well it was 16," is missing the point. My point was about minimizing failure and maximizing efficient action economy. Taking a 50+ roll that I argue we could've waited a turn on so we could give it a DD is almost certainly lower risk than what we did by just taking it without trying to apply bonuses.

For something this quest seems to find important Its baffling we took the action alongside ANOTHER thing we needed to DD on.

So now we risk (potentially, depending on when the info page updates) lowering our relations with Taalabecland FURTHER.

In that other timeline where we did DD the fuerbach option we could've rolled lower, but with a DD it still would've been higher than what we got now.

I'm probably getting way ahead of myself, but I look forward to seeing Fredrick become a god for both Dwarves and Humans.

Edit: I say this because of the clearly dwarfy stuff going on.

So that happened, several mercenary groups gone but they did good work before dying and the blood fane an ancient site of chaos is now gone.

Also interesting info that Simgars cult is doing something in Sylvania l.

On other turn news we had what a gain of 200 income with one of those being a rising income like the goats.

Also crit on the blastweave letting it finish a turn early is great! Rifled cannons is a definite grab next turn.

Well, that's that I guess. A Nice culling of the Beastmen :p
Goddamit, how long is the law of Ostland going to take? I have been waiting for it forever T-T

Well shit, with how many beastmen have died over the quest in Ostland, and the numbers killed here, the beastmen might be an endangered species in Ostland.

We continue to ruin the dark gods plans.

Just how much trouble is Aleena in? And what will happen to the stuff she took from her fallen comrades?

And the Rumor Mill is going to be a Doozy this time.

Her literal god of the underworld called her out for being a defiler of the honoured dead. That's pretty up there in the 'you dun fucked up' sweepstakes. Like, unless she was actually robbing dwarves graves I can't see how he could be more pissed off at her.

I get that part but I was actually talking about the other Dwarves that were present. And the reactions from the rest of the Dwarven Race.

No beastlords. That is kinda worrying. On the other hand, VICTORY! I guess Gazul can use Fred as a mobile mouth piece. Glad things went well. The Fuerhbachs are just going to be recurring irritant. But oh well. Is the Blood fane going to be a Ulric shrine now? It has some of his fire burning their.

Frederick continues to out-Dwarf other Dwarves, honestly with the grey stone i'm wondering if he's somehow turning into a full half dwarf hybrid.

Wonder if we'll get an action to investigate that next turn.

Ah nothing like a bunch of dead beastmen to liven up a Valentine's Day! Ulric continues to be an awesome bro-wolf. Also we can apparently act as a conduit for Gazul when he wants...that's unexpected. Why do I suspect the dwarves present are gonna scoop up that dirt Freddy spat out for the priests to examine or worse, use in their next brew!

A shame our diplomacy action failed but even if we had DD like I wanted on it we still would have failed and it seems it was used in the right place instead. So yeah my bad that call. At least everything else worked out!

Well... that was exhilarating.

If there's one available next turn, we really oight to spend a piety action on Ulric in thanks.

As for the dwarves, I still believe Freddy is on the path to becoming the Dwarven god of humans. I don't think he'd want the job though.

Finally, freaking Army of Ostland.
I hope at least one of those crazies writes a memoir. I mean, can you imagine?

Always a treat when you give us a battle, and the first major battle on top of Oskana no less.

Considering there was a small flicker of sliver fire in the former blood fane site, I wonder if this might become a new holy site, considering what just happened and who purified it.

Also, did Sabine just invent wrestling!? Like, Renaissance WWE?

Also also, WOLF ALTERS OF ULRIC!

I know it's not much, but you've been a source of constant brightness through the year, Torroar. So I'd like to say Happy Valentine's Day! It's the least I can do.

Was looking back at the options for the turn since we had a lot of actions finish including all three martial open for next year. Piety we have two and the Morr major temple is a big one for me. Stewardship only one with the other two finishing next turn so I would like to expand wulfenburg with the open action.
