This is the College noted for it's crazy discipline and rigorous rules. If it happened it was due to the Patriarch or Magnus pulling strings, not Freddy's influence.
I would put it up to being bros with Magnus and him helping Freddy out with that since it's for family and it would hopefully improve the image of the Colleges if a noble father regularly visit his mage kids.

Dutch's Imperial Culture Corner: Wissenland
Dutch's Imperial Culture Corner

Further south we go.

Wissenland

Lion should be white, but this was the best I could find.

Wissenland lies in the south most corner of the Empire, and forms a triangle bound by the Black and Grey mountains on two sides and the river Reik on the third. It was originally confined to the lands west of the river Söll, but grew to its current size after absorbing the remains of Solland after the former province got wrecked by the Orc warlord Gorbad Ironclaw in the 18th century. The area east of the Söll is still called Old Solland or Sudenland to this day.

Like Reikland, western Wissenland is heavily watered by streams and rivers flowing from the mountains and feed the river Söll, which in turn feeds the Upper Reik. The rivers are fed by the melting snow high in the mountains, and flooding is common during the spring. As a result, farmland is fertile near the Reik. Further inland the ground becomes stony and dry, with a large amount of blueish grey flint embedded into the earth. Wissenlander children often earn their first coins by removing the flint from the farmlands.

Western Wissenland has little room for farming and heavily depends on mining for its income. Over the centuries rights to dig in the mountains have been given by the dwarfs of Karak Norn and Karak Hirn, but that doesn't stop illegal mining operations from happening. The dwarfs don't take kindly to what they see as theft, and more importantly, shoddy workmanship.

Overland trade is important to Wissenland, and many passes cross the mountains from it to Bretonnia, the Border Princes and Tilea. Many travelers take the time to sample the various dwarven ales sold in the region.

During the harsh depths of winter the passes are often blocked by heavy snowfall. This makes the underground river starting near Kreutzhofen and ending near Miragliano in Tilea all the more valuable. The so called "River of Echoes" is so valuable that the Counts of Wissenland agreed with the Tileans that the Tileans would patrol and maintain the 150 miles "river" in return for total control of it. The insurance that trade and wealth would flow uninterrupted compensated the province more than enough for their lack of control.

East of the Söll the land is perfect for sheep-raising. Old Solland is famous for its high-quality wool and fur. However, ruined watchtowers, towns and forts still stand as silent monument to the tragedy that befell Solland.

Wissenlanders are descendants of the Merogen tribe, who settled the area in the pre-Imperial days. Like their neighbors in the north, the Merogens had good relations with the dwarfs, particularly the Kingdom of Karak Norn. The influence of dwarven culture is said to be the reason why Wissenlanders are short and practical in their speech. Little time is spent on fancy words, poets, artists and foppish Reiklanders.

Wissenlanders are known as a dour lot, the fall of Solland seems to be a secret shame for the province. They are a hardy people and give few words and little emotion. Their stony appearance is known to soften when they share drinks, and on rare occasions they might break into "The Lamment of Solland" or another lonesome ballad.

At their best Wissenlanders are stoic, dependable, and willing to endure hardship should it be needed. At their worst, they are depressing, dull, and obsessed with the gods.

For all their earthy practicality, Wissenlanders are very devout. Towns house shrines, temples and chapels to all legal cults and the local spirits. Many Wissenlanders visit a shrine or temple every day, and work their way through the gods during the week. Wissenlanders claim that it is simple devotion on their part, people from other provinces note that they're just showing off.

Sigmar and Taal and Rhya have special prominence in the province. Sigmar's cult is more prominent in the west, with various large temples hosting shrines for the dwarves and the location of the shrine of Sigmar the Protector, a popular pilgrimage spot. It is said that Sigmar himself appeared on this spot when the army of the Elector Count was cornered by a large force of orcs in the 14th century. Old texts say that when their destruction seemed inevitable, a great horn was heard and from nowhere a powerful warrior with a great hammer appeared. When the fighting was over, the warrior was gone. Some soldiers are said to have heard a voice saying that "He will always protect them".

The cult of Taal and Rhya is more popular in the east of the province, as it was since the time of Solland. It is also the home of a much darker cult seeking revenge.

Wissenlanders soften Reikspiel, and deliver it in a monotone that a lot of people find depressing. Tragic theater plays are often played with this accent, in order to heighten the feeling of the piece. Their heavy, plain speech and practical nature is reflected in their cuisine. Excellent Tilean and Bretonnian wines are often present at the table, but so are their infamous, flat and glutinous breads, Thick mutton stews and heavy dumplings.

i would like to point out that the colleges practices probably aren't set in stone this early on.

for all we know freddy has set a precedent.

Not like said precedent matters much because most people in the empire would be worthless shitheels and abandon their kids if they had magic.

but still.

Hope that Freddy provides a good example of not abandoning kids just because of their magic since I would think there would be more stable wizards if they have a strong connection to their families alongside the Colleges.

People tried to burn him at the stake because of his association with magic. After he was saved by a literal miracle they are still suspicious. He is not going to be setting any trends.

I will point out;

  1. Freddy is not subtle, I doubt there wasn't some knowledge of his plans to visit beforehand
  2. Freddy is pretty well regarded by mages
  3. Magnus the Pious likes and respects Freddy
  4. Magnus is the sole person the Colleges have to answer to
  5. Magnus is a bro
Conclusion? Being bros with one of the awesomest emperor of all times opens a lot of doors, even if you don't have to bother knocking. Freddy has some friends in high places for all that he's a tactless, brutally honest, angry brute.

The wail of his mother's voice, the steel and ice in her spine as she straightened not a day after. She could not be there to safeguard the corpse of her husband but she would certainly avenge him. A promise made, a promise that the promiser attempted to keep. That was what mattered – how grief had been forged into fury rather than an utter collapse of the spirit. Something that he had not even been needed for. In his own way he had turned further to faith as a salve to the wound dealt to his spirit.
Natasha staying strong for Freddy is awesome and when he wakes up should do something nice for her.
Stretching around him in impossible lengths and thickness were thick bars of black steel. Not the corrupted color of Chaos but rather the grave and solemn color of the Garden. A realm stretching unto infinity that he couldn't see even a fraction of, a realm that refused to reveal anything even within the bars. One could look only to see a guarding black fog. In the early days he had not even been able to see that far. Eyes adjusted as did his mind and soul, however. Gargantuan stone pillars atop which great and terrible guardians of carved rock stood – intelligences within their eyes that he dared not contemplate.

In the center of the vast edifice lay, of course, The Gate.

A single solid portal made entirely of stone with sigils carved into every space – some in vast symbols larger than even Urgdug. Others were smaller than his fingernails. There was not a free space between them all. Each glowed – again with that impossible darkness. The color black wasn't supposed to be able to glow and yet there it was. Yet one could not assume anything in this Realm. Nor the neighboring Land that he stood upon. Upon the border he stood with one foot in one and his remaining foot in the other.
Garden of Morr sounds cool.
The images however…

A great beast with one horn, swathed in twin blankets that fought for dominance. One woven from a dozen and more pairs of hands for comfort and safety while the other choked and snarled at the mind and heart.

A somehow filthy and unnaturally pink rose whose thorns curled around a thousand motes of light – only for one to burn brighter and brighter in defiance.

A hammer in whose head was the shape of a crown. A hammer that slammed down harder and harder on an unyielding stone. A moss of…something far too warm grew over the stone and filled the cracks. In common course, not as an attack. Joined together they stood against the hammer…but grew weaker and weaker yet.

A mass of flesh and moans that lashed out with tentacles to grasp and rip at anything near it. The mass flowed closer and closer to its target…but he could not see where it was going.

All that and more.
Anyone have any ideas what these images might possibly mean?
It was how we helped Hochland exactly like we said we would in the first Elector's Meet, after Gorebash tore through. Isn't it?
Magnus is simply a bro to Freddy in general so helped him out in visiting his kids.

Heresy, the only proper imperial alcoholic drink is beer!

I think it's Chaos fighting order. Maybe.
People tried to burn him at the stake because of his association with magic. After he was saved by a literal miracle they are still suspicious. He is not going to be setting any trends.
On the other hand, note that when we were accused of being tainted by our association with magic at the meet, one of the other electors (forget which one) spoke up saying something along the lines of 'magic is bad, but with faith it can be used for good, like in Sylvannia.' And another elector is married to a mage. Not even a 'foreign priest' a flat out Bright Wizard. Magic is still hated and feared, but it is much more accepted than in the OTL.

Anyway, let me just take a look at the prophecies.

A great beast with one horn, swathed in twin blankets that fought for dominance. One woven from a dozen and more pairs of hands for comfort and safety while the other choked and snarled at the mind and heart.

Freddy has been referred to as the "Bull with a Broken Horn" in the past--swathed in twin blankets that fought for dominance. One of them being applied by those who cared for him, as well as all of the gods and magics that have been called forth to heal him, and the other trying to chain him down and bind his mind and heart. Note how he was covered in little charms brought in by those who wanted to get well, and after rocking a Prayer roll, Magnus ended up moving a couple off of him? Any deep cover cultists who wanted to corrupt him has no better time to slip something nasty into him.

A somehow filthy and unnaturally pink rose whose thorns curled around a thousand motes of light – only for one to burn brighter and brighter in defiance.

Slaanesh or Neferata tightening their grip on those that they can--one of those subjects pushing back by growing "Brighter and Brighter". In short, someone who should be getting corrupted is doubling down on purity instead. On the flipside, it means 999 motes of light are getting curled around.

LIkely referring to King Stonehammer or Ghal Maraz, (Though I'm leaning towards Stonehammer due to the terms being used). Bashing away at an insoluble problem, and the 'Moss' is binding together to stand against it--successfully, but is growing weaker and weaker. May be foreshadowing a Goblin/Skaven alliance, because they hate us more than they hate each other.

A mass of flesh and moans that lashed out with tentacles to grasp and rip at anything near it. The mass flowed closer and closer to its target…but he could not see where it was going.

Scary Chaos Spawn has been unleashed to kill somebody, and is gradually making progress, but is too fucking stupid to do so reliably.

Freddy maybe? One blanket is all the healing items and good-luck charms, the other is Khorn saying "GIMME YOUR SOUL! YOU'RE ALREADY ANGRIER THAN HALF MY WORSHIPERS SO JUST GIVE IT ALREADY!"

Something about Slaanesh?

Something with the Dwarfs, I think? The greenskins and Skaven putting aside their differences for 10 seconds to deal with the common threat?

No god-damn idea.

That is debatable since with the huge war in the Bone Lands the Greenskins and Skaven have come to hate each other to the extreme for different reasons.

Still if your right hope Stonehammer has the stamina of the mountains in him to break the mass soon.

Since when has Destro hating each other stopped them from fucking up non-Destro factions?

"We could keep killing each other, and risk actually losing to the filthy Dwarfs... OR we could call a truce for ten minutes, and kill them while we jockey around for better position when we get back to killing each other"

Yeah, it'll be in the form of "Let's prepare to be the first one to backstab the other", but in the meantime, we're about to have a Bad Time.

And of course, prophecies can be a crapshoot anyway. They're vague as hell after all.

"HOW ARE MY LITTLE GIRLS!" boomed their father as he vigorously shoved his way past the crowd that had gathered to watch the almost prisoner like line of trainees and apprentices that walked towards the College. People drew back in fear and confusion as he did so.
I don't think we visited them at the colleges. Just in Altdorf.

Right all points and like said shouldn't always rely on prophecies.

Still either way all we can hope for is that the rolls overall go our way.

Think they were outside the College that one time and Freddy simply went directly toward them.

Also like said it's likely he has special permission to enter the Colleges.

Hope their is a tradition in the family to always visit those members of the family that head to the College.

Or assuming they have a similar Wind future family members can be taught at home by Wizard relatives like Nordland.

I'm guessing that mote of light that's burning brighter is Genevieve. Sigmar is the god of Defiance and she is connected to both Sigmar and Neferata. Makes me worried about Johanna, though, as only one light is known to be burning brighter and brighter.
