Wanted to try an omake to improve the chances with the Witch Hunter's talk.
Omake
Count Frederick von Hohenzollern of Ostland was currently on his way through the halls to possibly his most difficult challenge in preparing for war with the chaotic forces of Nordland. Getting help from he people who hated his guts, the Witch Hunter's. Oh he was sure that they would be doing there part to fight chaos in the background and would do it very well, but he needed them to actually work with him so that things can get done.
As much as they hated him and he them they both had a common enemy in chaos, and he hoped to use that till the threat was defeated. They were very good at their job no matter how unpleasant it was and to have access to it in a time of war with chaos would be very useful. Their skill in gathering information and finding chaos would be very important in the war and the forays this year to get as much information about the enemy as possible.
His relationship with the Witch Hunter's was better than when he first became count with all he had done to fight chaos and giving them free rein on their witch hunt last year, but they mostly still disliked or distrusted him due to his lack of love for the church and of course marrying a foreign witch didn't help things. He also still needed to look out for that group of three that had it out for him.
He planned, if the meeting went well, the Hunter's to act as spies during the course of the war in Nordland and provide their knowledge on how to fight chaos troops when on the forays. He needed them to be able to tell him who in Nordland was corrupted and who could be saved since he didn't fancy killing innocent people because he couldn't tell if they were following the chaos gods or not. He also needed them to get him information about what was happening in Nordland least he and everyone else gets caught with their pants down because they didn't know what the enemy was doing out there.
Long story short he needed them no matter how much he disliked them, but he couldn't let them know that or else they would take advantage of that fact. He need to tell them that they both needed each other since he was providing the manpower to take out armies and they could get the information to make that army more deadly. He knew at the very least that despite how they viewed each other they were loyal to the Empire and as long as what he did was in the Empire's best interests they would help him.
His line of thought ended once he reached the door to Marlisa's office so he prepared himself, took a quick drink from his flask because he was going to need it, and knocked on the door while announcing himself. On the other side Marlisa said he could enter so he did. Once inside he saw Marlisa and both fortunately and unfortunately Eizenhorn because he needed to talk to him as well but he was not his favorite person to talk to due to the fact he glared at him more than he talked.
They were both standing over Marlisas' desk looking over what looked to be a map of Nordland covered in markings. Frederick felt good to know that he was right about them planning their own missions in Nordland but he needed they to keep him informed at all times and to follow what he said for at least for now since they were at least on paper on the same side right now.
"Alright I know what you are most likely going to do and I'm okay with that heck I want it to happen but for at least a little while can we do this together because I'm pretty sure none of us want to die of a supernatural plague if we can help it" he said and thus began the longest talk he ever had with people he didn't like that didn't involve it dissolving into a drunken brawl at the end.
He left hammered but at least it was because he needed to be in order to stand talking to them and not to act as pain killer after a serious fight.
