Honestly, naming ships after people doesn't seem to be a Federation tradition...

You forgot Gunguns and fortforts > : V
Those would be too much militarization even for our bloodthirsty types. Also, Gunguns are in danger of being mistaken for a sort of amphibious Pakled.

Interfering with the Bajoran occupation will likely not be a player decision. It will happen either at the Council level or at the starship captain level.
Suffice to say that...

One way or another, not too long after the Bajoran Occupation begins (if it ever does), we are probably going to have to make some decisions. Those decisions will likely result in a profound impact upon the fate of the Bajoran people, and on whether or not we subsequently wind up at war with the Cardassian Union.

Still Better than Admiral Honour Harrington on the Honour Harrington class Superdreadnought Honour Harrington.
It was so not her fault that an entirely new class of ships was in the works right at the moment that she was presumed dead by the grudge-bearing nation whose planet she'd saved.

Works for me. The Other Two can get on the big explorer train next year.

So we do get our 5 concurrent missions goal on time, yes?

Wow, wouldn't it have been super awkward if we had named the latest Excelsior after her...
I kind of want to see Maryam to send 'Sorry for making you think I was dead,' presents out as apologies.
Something like:
TO DO
Debriefing
Medical Exam
Second Debriefing
Third Debriefing with Telepath Oversight
Leave on Betazed (with Counseling)
-Schedule time for orbital skydive
--Schedule time to explain orbital skydiving
Send apology packages to friends, coworkers, family, etc.
-And apparently the Romulans?
--Ok?
---Maybe send a bottle of Kanar?
----And a couple of bottle of Apiatan mead to apologize for the Kanar.
Sleep for a week

USS John F. Kennedy USS John Muir USS Neil Armstrong USS Farouk El-Baz USS Farragut (NCC-60597) USS Thomas Paine USS Albert Einstein USS Sherlock Holmes Yeah the Federation totally doesn't have a tradition of naming ships after people. :p

And that is out of how many Federation ships, Alias? I don't know how many ships have been named in canon but it's got to be several hundred, maybe a thousand. There's a difference between "not a tradition" and "forbidden," as I'm sure you know.

Naming ships after virtues or locations or the like seems far more common.

Edit: yeah. She's got two whole new Orbital skydives to schedule, maybe 3 soon with the Caitians

Actually roughly 188 ships. :p I also didn't include all ships named after people.

All right. Never mind.

Now I'm starting to regret not having a USS Ajam; if we're going to get into that habit of naming ships for people, we should do it with style and experience all the hilarious potential negative consequences!

I don't think she owes anyone an apology for getting captured and mutilated.

EDIT: I am all for the USS James Kirk.

We can name the ships whatever we want, within reason. Who cares what's more common?

Incidentally, current Starfleet ships named after people, in TBG:
Hawking
Salnas
Sappho
Sarek
S'Harien
Suvek
Thirishar
(arguably)
T'Kumbra
T'Mir

Apparently we have a tradition of naming ships after people with 's' names?
