I've revised the New Orleans/ Gen 3 escort redesign. Version 1 has a single pod on a centreline pylon in a Nebula-esque style, Version 2 has one pod on each side of the saucer like the original New Orleans
Which do people prefer?

What about a pair of pylon-mounted pods?
Bottom of the pods would be roughly even with the top of the hull minus bridge, and horizontal position would be roughly where the central pylon design puts its pod.

I don't see enough reward in the attempt to delay the Cardassians to offset the very possible risk of damage to or loss of the Kumari or forcing the Cardassian's hand into war.
Sulu's proposal isn't worth the militarization at this point.
I prefer the 1st version of the New Orleans class with the central pod. Also we've talked about changing the name to something less human-centric. What about calling them the Champion or Bastion class?

You say that and then I spent 2.5 hours last night writing up the rolls for a fight scene. And doing the rolls. It felt like torture.

Perhaps Fosh or Shar'es class? Vulcan word for Defense and Security respectively. other ships would likewise take their names from words of protection from various member species. shield, protector, defender, ect.. and their translations in other spoken tongues. also discovered a English-Vulcan translator. might be handy.
