[X][ACADEMY] Custom - Shift 1.5 from Enlisted to Techs

[X][YANROS] Support the diversion (reduced Enlisted intake when Honiani ratify, emphasis on improved Raid assets)
Sooooo....

First steps to our very own Warrior caste?

I feel trying to push people into jobs that star fleet has decided fits their species sets a bad precedent. No matter how "gently" we push at first.
Three things:

One: They won't be nudging very hard seeing as the Yan-Ros already about doubled the attendance of some of the more esoteric security class tracks just by trickling in.

Two: Starfleet crosstrains like fuck. Even the combat specialists. Witness Rachel Garrett, security lieutenant, figuring out a way to turn a phaser rifle into a sonic disruptor shotgun with only stock parts on the fly. The encouragement will be at most to pick security as A specialization.

Three: By the time someone hits commander regardless of what track they started in they seem to as a rule pick up at least one other major specialty.

I just hope we won't see them Worf-ed, just to prove the new enemy is dangerous in CQC, that never ends well (specially for Worf)

I want to see Cadet Picard Indiana Jones-ing it up with a team of Yan-Ros.

Note that it's purely a diversion from Enlisted, so Yan-Ros leaderships candidates and brilliant scientists will still go unhindered to their respective branches. It's just that if you're doing the Starfleet equivalent of grunt work (probably still highly technical by modern day standards) they'll be encouraged to do it in a way where their strength can be most leveraged.

Hmmm... without Nausicaans in the setting, he is going to find some other knife to have a heart to heart with, Him Indiana Jones-ing with a team of Yan-Ros could be it... or he could end up punching Cardassians and with a known phobia of snakes

A Seyek terrorist or criminal could provide the knifework. :V

Even a casual glance at the spreadsheet tells me we need more techs...and more SR, and more Berths.

I believe WOG is that Nausicaans do exist, and they are a client of the Klingons. So one joining Starfleet is not impossible, just unlikely.

... Is it bad if I can't help but picture an encounter between the Yan-Ros and Klingons if they ever fought on the ground? :p

iirc, the Nausicaan that got Jean Luc's Heart wasn't part of starfleet, he met him in shore leave, so, if the Nausicaans are a Klingon Client, neat! still, it is less likely he will have that event, as the timeline is significantly different and Picard is bound to be different (oh, god, he is going to be Kirk 3.0, isn't he? that will obviously make the FDS to loose its collective hair and will to live, again)

Im sad we dont have a kirk 3.0 for the enterprise right now honestly.

Enterprise shouldn't always have a Kirk-type captain, but that does raise the question: Do we have any Kirk-type Starfleet officers around right now? Anyone noteble in the Rat Race post that might have taken Applied Xenopsychology, or is likely to do so? We might have simply lucked out with Nash, but it's certainly something worth keeping a few sensors on.
