A bit surprise at how small the Fiiral are, wonder how they fight.
Perhaps use they their body as a bowling ball and hit their enemies like ten pin bowling?

"He, we heard of you guys. What took you so long? Come, join us!"

17 Species.

Just 20 game years ago, there were 4 species making up the United Federation of Planets.

Now it is 17.

So we're behind? Vaguely remember Picard saying there were hundreds of members in TNG. Seems we need to step up our game.

20 years to quadruple means by the year 2360, we should have 128 members or so. We need an expansionist president sometime in the near future to get the mass ratifications. Hopefully the EC will manage to find a massive number of species to make friends with, or we'll have to... befriend... one of the other major powers out there.

This timeline is different. In the canon timeline, the Federation already had at least seven or eight members by 2300. Snowball got rolling decades later in this version.

It's due to the same game abstractions that leaves us with far fewer ships than canon; a smaller game is easier to both run and play, in essence.

"Hi, what are you guys up to?"
"We share our successes in harmony, come join us!"
"Hm. Do you have sandy beaches on a paradise planet with a very open native population? Or or the guys that throw their party with the anti-water icecubes? Or - did you ever aspire to an honest knighthood?"
"..."
"Heh, I've got this infopadd somewhere here, if you are interested - we like visitors!"
