It looks like it's going to punch me in the face. Exactly what you want in a warship!

Edit: or wait, is that the aft view? I think it is. Extra chance to demoralize foes in a stern chase, then. Or it's like those spiders with the scary face on the abdomen! Double points!

You did read how it ejects the warp core, didn't you?

Hm, looking at my spreadsheets...

To my knowledge, we don't know enough about the Caldonians, Risans, Orion Union, Seyek, Kadeshi and Honiani to be certain of the actual names of their fleets, and we don't even have H L P stats for the Honiani or S L P D for the Kadeshi. For that matter we have nothing on the Pride of Kadesh either, despite its plot-importance.

We also lack stuff for the Laio, but it's my understanding they've not started building a proper fleet yet, being Honiani/KP dual affiliates and neutral to the Arcadian War as they are.

I very strongly suspect the Pride of Kadesh has PLOT for S, P and D stats.

This it the Stargazer.

The Pride has been destroyed.

A PLOT sized worm hole opened in front of us and disgorged a PLOT sized fleet of unknown ships, each of PLOT size. They each fired in excess of PLOT torpedoes on an unknown payload. Despite the valiant (and ultimately suicidal) actions of her escorts to interpose themselves in the path of the munitions, Pride was hit by PLOT warheads in successive waves. Her PLOT shields failed under the second wave and her PLOT Hull ruptured after 5 more.

Following the core reactors failing, the unknowns returned to their wormhole.

We were only able to pick up PLOT survivors, who had reached escape pods that had time to reach a safe distance before the Pride's exploding reactors wiped out any pods still trying to escape from the craft.

The unknowns did not fire directly on us, however we still have minor hull damage from proximity to the Pride. We were not able to disable any of the attackers before they departed.

Stargazer will now return to Federation space, taking roughly PLOT years.

From the nearest I can tell new member shipyards tend to pop up whenever it's plot-relevant. We'd have to do some digging to get even an incomplete list.

Does anyone have a spreadsheet with all the member world shipyards? I'm trying to figure out the total berth capacity of the Federation.

I have no idea if it is up to date, but there is a list on the design thread.

Member World & Key Affiliate Shipyards:

Andorians - Andoria Orbital@Andor (3x1mt), Hathlorn @ Landle IV (2x1mt), Ranford Orbital @ Ranford III (1x1mt), 2x 500kt colony shipyards

Vulcans - Chelok-An@Vulcan (2x1mt), Faran-Bel@Delta Vega (1x1mt, 1x500kt), Solitude Orbital @ Solitude (1x500kt)

Tellarite - Xurch Melloch @ Tellar Moon (2x1mt), Xurch Cheg@Lagh Cheg II (1x1mt), Grand Duk@Ord Grind Duk (2x2mt), Xurch Klivvar @ Klivvar Proxima (1x500kt), Sar Alpha (500kt)

Human - Luna Orbital @ Luna (2x1mt), Cochrane Yards @ Alpha Centauri (1x1mt), Green Hook Fleet Yards @ Vega (2x1mt), 2x500kt colony shipyards

Amarkia - Amarkian Arsenal (2x2.5mt, 2x1mt), Maia Selin @ Selindira (700k), Akoun Lariel @ Tales Har (1x500k) 1xLeas Akaam (1x1mt)

Betazoids - Rixx Loxhanada Defence Yard @ Betazed (1x1mt, 1x400kt), Talak Zin Defence Yard @ Onos IV (1x 400kt)

Rigellians - Lagan-Shir @ Rigel VIII (1x2.5mt, 1x1.5mt), Kardan Amash Yards @ Welleck IV (1x1.5mt, 2x750kt)

Apiata - Grand Hive of the Apiata @ Apinae (1x2.5mt, 4x600kt), Hive of the Irrizizza @ Irrizizza (1x2mt, 2x600kt), Hive of the Alrizzine @ Alrizzine IV (2x600kt), Give of the Burrizz @ Burrizz III (2x600kt)

Caitian - S'Naranya @ Ferasa (1x2.5mt, 2x600kt), S'Larrmrr @ Ollasa IV (1x600kt), S'Karniss @ Merfara II (1x600kt)

Assuming it is up to date (and that I counted right):
5 * 2.5MT berths
5 * 2MT berths
2 * 1.5MT berths
21 * 1MT berths
2 * 750KT berths
1 * 700KT berths
14 * 600KT berths
9 * 500KT berths
2 * 400KT berths

In terms of our ship designs:
5 yards that can build the Excelsior - but maybe not the Ambassador, depends on final size.
A total of 28 additional yards that can build any current design except the Excelsior. 7 of which could handle a <1.5MT cruiser (I expect the Rennie successor will be at least this weight scale).
Out of the smaller yards:
Centaur-A is 800KT, so no additional spaces
Miranda-A is 655KT, so 3 additional berths that can build one.
Oberth is impossibly small, it can build anywhere.

"Admiral Sousa, you are about to be read into a matter that has been a Class 1-AAA secret within Starfleet for many years, under the codeword, 'Generations'. It is a need to know secret, known by only a single crew at a time through the fleet, sworn to the utmost discretion." You slowly lean back in your seat, but say nothing, so Sulu continues. "I want to tell you a tale about the starship Enterprise, the ship of aeons."

"Very well, Vice Admiral Sulu, proceed."

-

"Very well, Lieutenant Sulu, proceed."

"Yes, Captain, approaching the anomaly," you reply, looking over your shoulder. Captain Kirk sits upon his chair, a presence like a great cat, seemingly lounging but with eyes sharp, mind attentive. You turn back to your console, generating a gentle thrust as the starship Enterprise heeds your commands.

STAR TREK

"The one by the third planet is the older one, but is a stronger signal," says Uhura. She pauses and tilts her head, listening to her earpiece carefully. "Captain, if I'm not mistaken, it may even be a United Earth Starfleet code. The other is definitely a Starfleet code."

"Very well," says Kirk, returning to his command chair. "Mr Chekov, give me a course to-"

Dunno what the strength of signal means, but I'd prioritize the older and less advanced (and thus possibly more vulnerable) ship.

[X] The Third Planet

The flip side is that the older ship has a stronger signal and may well be in physically better shape. Plus, if either of those ships is the Enterprise-B, it's more likely to be the one with the "definitely Starfleet" distress signal- that is, the fourth planet one.

I'll try to give a rundown this evening.

No, they are permanent structures, and take a few years to construct when they decide to build one. Shipyards and construction are one of the things I track for all factions. The only time they all get popped into existence together is when they are first added to the list, before which they are masked behind some kind of Schrodinger's fleet principle.

Yeah. So far we have a consistent pattern of each member species having a good-sized yard at its homeworld to construct the largest ships it typically operates, plus maybe one or two very small satellite yards for frigates. The shipyards themselves... I honestly can't remember them moving around. If a species' yard capacity doesn't 'pop up' it's because it would be utterly irrelevant to know where their yards are.

Well, the strength of the signal is not necessarily correlated with the overall condition of the ships in question. All sorts of technobabble reasons signal strength is weaker on the more modern ship. Heck, it could be the equivalent of a frequency problem, where more modern vessels spread their broadcast on more subspace bands or whatever.

And in any case, I'm also counting on the Enterprise's plot armor :p

[][COMMS] Starfleet Science Academy : 2320s Federation Datanet
[][COMMS] Starfleet Science Academy : 2320s Colony Datanets
[][COMMS] Starfleet Science Academy : 2320s Fleet Comms

Not much that makes sense to pull out into a task. 2320s Core Power, 2320s Geological Sensors and 2310s Escort - Combat were part of the 2318 Kepler plan to begin with. Automated Shipsystems, 2320s Affiliates Research and 2320s Preventative Care are obvious choices considering our crew shortages. 2310s Personal Protection has received a lot of progress during the Orion campaign that we can now cash in on, and would finish the tier. 2320s Starship Armour means T3 hulls, which offer a rather substantial increase in effect without any increase in weight or cost, a much more significant benefit than any other currently unlocked Starship Construction project. The only relatively reasonable alternative I can see would be finishing T2 and picking 2310s Xenopsychology instead of 2320s Diplomacy, but while the improved diplomacy package parts from 2310s Xenopsychology are good it doesn't seem like we will design another presence-heavy class soon (they wouldn't be available for the Kepler) and 2320s Diplomacy offers two extra free yearly non-affiliate rolls and a bunch of diplo bonuses.

Spock and Vulcan Science Academy might need to be switched if we can't afford a boost to VSA, or alternatively we could give up on trying to finish geo sensors in time for a 2318 Kepler. But even if we do there isn't really an obviously better choice to research instead so we could still research them anyway.

I'll have to look at this later, but I just want to note that if you're still using my part priority list there have been massive changes in the last two iterations that made it obsolete. Generally there is a progression in every part now, I haven't looked at which are more effective yet.

I looked at the spreadsheet, not your list (though that did obviously influence the plan last year, but by now it wouldn't be possible to switch to other projects and finish them in time anyway).
