We were lucky not to have Jupiter disabled/destroyed. She took quite a pounding, and then stayed in the battle line. If Goliath B had hit a little harder ....

Turn 436 - Ship Goliath B is firing upon Ship UES Jupiter
Damage roll - Hitpower 3.80 vs Shields 0.13
Ship UES Jupiter Shields reduced to 0.00
Ship UES Jupiter has lost shields.
Ship UES Jupiter reduced to 0.61 Hp
Ship 0 has taken casualties: 0/1/0 out of 2/4/2
The UES Jupiter has suffered sub-system damage: Weapons knocked out! 30 turns to repair.

Jupiter didn't retreat despite this damage and kept doing light damage ...

Turn 500 - Ship Goliath B is firing upon Ship UES Jupiter
Damage roll - Hitpower 0.03 vs Shields 0.02
Ship UES Jupiter Shields reduced to 0.00
Ship UES Jupiter has lost shields.
Ship UES Jupiter reduced to 0.60 Hp
Ship 1 has taken casualties: 1/0/0 out of 2/4/2

...Let's stick with the first result. Sure, it could have better, but it also could have been worse.

How many Excelsior's are out of action and in need of repair by now? Upgrading them to the Excelsior - A wont be cheap but the more we have being upgraded the better and the Excelsior - A will be a nasty surprise for the Cardassians when we next skirmish with them. unless of course we manage to the Excelsior upgraded higher than A by that point.

This is probably the last "major fleet battle" of this war, right? Since their fleets are now shattered and this was the Kordannon world, meaning we can sue for peace with another House as leader?

At tis rate he might well retire considering the amount of deaths under his command.
He's no spring chicken, might go for a desk job.

Nope, he got saved by Personnel beforehand.

"I'm sorry about your shipmates, Captain, but this just shows why we can't afford to put too many valuable officers like you on the front line. There's a reason I recalled you when I did."

"I suppose so, Rear Admiral. At least my wessel is still mostly intact."

"Yes, and at least we've won. Have you seen the action report for the Renaissance? That Larai Leaniss is just a beast."

Without Courageous we would have lost the battle, which makes me worry about any combat without our veteran explorer corp ships involving fixed defenses now.

We knew we would need the EC for this war, so we sent them. Saying "we'd be screwed without the EC" is like a Romulan saying "we'd be screwed without our cloaks" or a Klingon saying "we'd be screwed without our massive Bird of Prey swarm." When there's a major war, we need to use our best assets.

I think we best strip the crew from the two damaged Excelsior's and slate them for rebuilds and relaunches in like 6 years. Because we are idiots and really let the issue of manpower wither on the vine.

That said, we are stealing the designs for the Behemoth and setting out to build a Starfleet equivalent over every homeworld.

Poor Courageous she just got fixed too iirc.

The Courageous was unscathed. If only our other capships could have been so lucky.

That's about the only thing we can do.

EDIT: by Behemoth, do you mean the Goliath? That might be a good idea, unless they're more expensive than our own starbase designs.

Yes, I meant Goliath, that said, even if they are, the defense of a Homeworld is worth the cost.

And looking on it, its almost worth mothballing all non-refit Mirandas for their crews.

Let me rephrase...

The goliath may not be more cost effective than our own starbase and outpost designs, even if its individually superior. IE, if we can built three starbases for the cost of two goliaths, then its probably more worth it to build the three starbases.

We need to come up with a plan to start upgrading our Excelsior ships up to Excelsior-A as soon as possible. The sooner we do it the better.
