Looking at the Megatortoise, I can easily imagine Red Alert or Command & Conquer: Generals unit quotes like 'WE WILL BURY THEM!' or 'They are nothing'.

Would be interesting to see what kind of quotes that can be used for a special unit like Enterprise or standard Excelsior and Oberth types.
Maybe Explorer ships have unique quotes base on their current captains?
This gives me an idea....

Introduction: USS Blizzard, eighth ship of the Centaur-Class, reporting for duty!
Library Intro: I'm the eighth ship of the Centaur-class, and the first to be built to the A standard. I'm named after, well, a Blizzard. I first served as part of the ASTF, and participated in the Celos Convoy, and was mentioned in dispatches four times. Although I'm only an Escort, I'll try to do my best!
Secretary (1): Yes, Admiral?
Secretary (2): I'll do my best!
Secretary (3): Fleet Headquarters, Blizzard speaking. Hello Admiral!
Secretary (Idle): What would you like me to do next?
Wedding: You're marrying me? I will, Admiral!
Score: The fleet has reported in, Admiral!
Joining a Fleet: USS Blizzard, ready for sortie!
Equip 1: Ah, new equipment!
Equip 2: Thanks, Admiral!
Equip 3: This equipment will help me do better!
Supply: Thanks, Admiral! I'll use this energy to do better!
Docking w/< Minor dmg: It's just a scratch, Admiral. A quick trip to the docks, and I'll be ready for duty!
Docking w/> Moderate dmg: I'll be sure to try harder next time.
Docking Complete: All systems repaired, and fully functional! Repairs have been completed, Admiral!
Construction: It looks like another ship has returned, Admiral. I wonder if it's one of my sisters?
Sortie Return: We're back! ... Shouldn't you be talking to the Explorer?
Sortie Start: USS Blizzard, ready for sortie!
Battle Start: I will do my best!
Strike Craft Battle: Phasers ready for defensive fire!
Attack: I will do my best!
MVP: Thanks, Admiral! I'll be sure to try just as hard next time!
MinorDmg1: Shields still up! Returning fire!
MinorDmg2: I'm hit! Shields holding!
Moderate Dmg: Shields down! It's a bit hot over here!
Destroyed: Goodbye, Admiral... I can see the white again... I guess I didn't do my best...

Enterprise:

"I'm with Q on this one. Trust me, when an officer tries to marry one of his ships it does not end well. That poor, poor man."

[sighs, shaking her head]

Nek minnit, someone starts a TBG-Kanmusu quest and I start making my morning coffee Irish.

This sounds like an excellent idea.

Enterprise would be the big sister of Starfleet, always first to throw herself into the fray and doing twice the work of everyone else.

Sarek would be calm and collected, until you hand her some explosives.

Courageous would be a scar covered badass with nerves of steel.

Miracht would be a pair of tombstones.

Yeah, the Honiani are basically "looks like the IoM, acts like the UFP."

Though keep in mind, when we first encountered them we were warned that their moderate and radical religious factions tend to trade off in political power. We've had a long, warm summer of the moderates in power, and the radicals are due for their turn. You might see some more IoM from them yet.

This gives me an idea....

Now we just need an artist willing to draw TBG-ship girls.

Swell...

Poor Enterprise, her line of suitors will stretch out to Vulcan Amarki and back.

If there were TBG-Kanmusu, then what about the previous generations of ships?

*imagines a whole horde of Enterprises hiding in Nash's quarters on the B to surprise her*

:p

I blame Simon. And Leila Hann.

Ranger would probably be the mother of the fleet. She advises the auxiliaries, and is a doctor, chef, and engineer. Her little sister's talent for all of those came from her.

NX would probably be the (grand) mother of the fleet, content to sit back, tell stories, and advise everyone.

-0 and -A are sisters? IDK.
Both probably have jobs at tactical and at engineering. They like talking with Leslie, who isn't dead, because personnel says he's alive.

-B is Harriman + Nash, with a little bit of Sam.
Harriman = Methodical, Nash = brilliant leader and diplomat, and Sam = by-the-book, with a little silly streak.

Hmm....

USS Enterprise-B:
Efficient. Does many things by the book, but knows when to break them. A great leader. Can break rocks by bumping into them, to Sarek's annoyance. Occasionally has temporal loops. Fleet poker champion. Wears glasses, but still has the best vision in the fleet. Very extroverted. The fastest long-range runner in the fleet.
Nickname: ??? (@AKuz: Any ideas?)

USS Courageous:
Enjoys a good cup of tea. An expert at personal combat and at navigation. Has a tendency to get into accidents, though unlike Miracht, she always survives.

USS Sarek:
The best shot in the fleet. Loves rocks.

"We are what we are, the concept is cutesy and all but honestly, incarnate bodies just... spoil things. I mean seriously. Next thing you know, you'll be talking about curry."

USS Blizzard:
I like living more than once; thanks for your concern. Not everyone can survive stealth-mines on a regular basis.

TBG-KC Headcanon:
The first to return are: Polaris, Centaur, Blizzard, Faithful, Miracht (Miranda), and Suvek.
Polaris is the leader of the returned DesDiv Escort Division 1.
The Blizzard in the dialogue lines I posted is newly-returned Blizzard. The Blizzard above is a Blizzard that's no longer a young destroyer escort.

(Fubuki means Blizzard. This may have inspired Blizzard's character. They're not exactly the same, though.)

I dunno.

See, my problem is that I like "ships have souls" and the anthropomorphic portrayal of same as a way of making jokes and telling dramatic stories via allegory. It's a compelling thing.

But Kantai Collection takes the conceit and runs with it farther than I would want to go in a story that isn't specifically a Kantai Collection fic.

...

Dreams!Enterprise is not a shipgirl; she's a conceptually independent idea of a type I've had floating around in my head for years. The recent popularity of Kantai Collection may have helped shake that concept loose, but it was there before.

So again, Dreams!Enterprise is not a shipgirl. Insofar as she's a thing that actually exists and is not a figment of someone's imagination, she's a ship. There's a difference.

Nash sees the embodiment of the Enterprise as a woman because she loves women, and she's in love with the starship Enterprise. That was literally our first omake- "Nash falls in love." Kirk saw her much the same way for much the same reason. They're seeing an aspect of a larger and stranger thing, interpreted through the lens of their own feelings towards that thing.

But Samhaya Mrr'shan sees her as a magical lioness, because she's not in love, and because she doesn't try to cram a mysterious and abstract concept into a cat-person-o-pomorphic pigeonhole. Sam is no more right or wrong about her perception of Enterprise than Nash is.

Analogies about blind men and elephants apply- though not everyone is equally blind. If Scotty were around, he'd see her as, well, the Enterprise, because he knows her the way she truly is.

I think that was him threatening to abandon the quest and start over with a bunch of Klingons if he Kancolle level hits critical threshold.

I'd stop doing joke and semijoke posts as Enterprise (and occasionally other ships) if it helped.

I'd stop writing Dreams omakes if it helped.

Well, actually I'd still write them. I just wouldn't post them. :(

Sorry, the above post was intended to be a joke response.

I'll stop derailing now.

EDIT: I guess this is what happens when viewer count and discussion is low :/

Really? I was thinking something more akin to Twoface, seeing as it seems Miracht's luck is quite bipolar in nature, and with the origional being infected with the Biophague.
You'd like that, wouldn't you?

It's a shame, because this is a conversation I'd enjoy having if there were a way to segregate it out from the common run of discussion.

Hey, chill. That's not much different from the "Plasma-chan" joke in regular KC (or even Yuudachi going from harmless Poi Schoolgirl to THE NIGHTMARE OF SOLOMON complete with red eyes and stuff in the actual game) or the way Siren of Spring ended up being treated in Lord K's Rule the Waves LP (after the game glitched out, transported her to West Africa and counted her kills 999999 times).

Shipgirls are made of their ship history.
