Considering how much smaller these are than even the Stingrays their crew is probably pretty small too. I think the Stingray crew losses will have them beaten.

Otherwise i think we should give the stingray a B-block after this, upgun it and/or install the advanced cannons and let the class live out the rest of its service life with dignity.
Honestly i think we might just want to do block upgrades for the NX and zheng he as well, we probably don't want to start production of another shieldless class of ship and im a fan of refits.

The stingray doesn't seem worth refitting to me.
The NX though, it should get the Phased Pulse Cannons, and the zheng he does deserve a better engine.

I'm thinking more Wolfpack than independent steaming. What we need is "lots", getting that and high quality together takes time. And since it's lots, they're going to be covering each other.

Even so the losses are pretty negligible, like our civilian KIA total exceed our military death by a factor like 100k:1.

We should be getting shield tech soon, going by a bit about it being a few years off a couple updates back, so we could refit the NX with all 3.

I wonder how our military losses stack up against the romulans.
We've probably lost a little more in terms of ship crews, but the personnel they had on those stations, and what ever Garrison they had on Denobula when the Denobulans took control back might mean that Starfleet is coming out of this better than they are.

Given Stingrays only have like 30 people we are coming out pretty good probably.
No, our first child deserves only the best.
But more seriously, i feel like they have a good bit of life left in them in their original role, and putting new guns on them is cheaper than building a bunch of new ships that will already be obsolete in 3-4 years.

I guess , If we really go all out on crash building for the war, they might scrap the torpedo bays and turn these ships into fast passenger or cargo ships.
Down the line, the whole fleet needs to be rebuilt for shield tech, and anything with a warp 5 engine is heaps better than than the warp 2/3 ships that are probably still common outside of starfleet.

I can think of a good reason for an aft cannon.
Alpha Strike > Pass By to Assess the Target's Damage > Continue Firing on Target with Aft Cannon if Target is still Functioning more than is Acceptable
