Again, that's not how it works. We're not dumping a pile of extremely volatile antimatter warheads in those extra cargo spaces, those are explicitly for the Connie to ferry supplies for colonies and such.
photon torpedoes aren't stored live you complete dingus. Antimatter isn't put in the torpedo until it gets to the launcher, and you are actually going to, you know, actually shoot it. Antimatter injection is literally step one of the firing sequence!

oh, so now we have to wait for a different ship to get to the depot, pick up our photons, and then ferry them out to us. That is significantly slower stratigicly and will represent an extremely juicy target for any Klingons still operating nearby.

This is a completely flawless plan with no glaring flaws whatsoever and will surely be faster than just carrying a few hundred reloads in Cargo Bay Three. Definitely.

I mean, that's the entire point of a logistics vessel? I specifically argued for a ship that would return to port more frequently, but if she's not gonna, we can use the proximity of our frontier outposts and new transports to make sure she can take full advantage of her incredible range.

Cool it. Insulting people isn't going to help make your point.

God dammit. We're going to need a photon torp wog from sayle at this point aren't we? Until we get that I'm abstaining. Without knowing the truth what's the point?

The cargo bays are explicitly for hauling around other peoples' stuff, not expanding the ship's own stores. This feels like the same thing as the fabricators, people claiming that the bays give benefits that they don't.

..a few *hundred reloads*?? That's two complete reloads, at least, assuming the 144 of the Conn-2 class is to be believed, and I'd be v nervous about that much antimatter in my cargo bay!

Sorry, but people who assume that Starfleet are flaming morons annoys me. A torpedo without antimatter in it is completely and one hundred percent safe to store for any length of time*, a torpedo with antimatter cannot be stored in a completely safe manner by its very nature. why in the Great Gazoo's galaxy anyone would think that Starfleet would store dozens or even hundreds of fail-deadly warheads in their ships when they have the ability to not do that is baffling to me.

*any other time sensitive or limited life components allowing of course.

Outside of wartime, ship works better as a deterrent if it is patrolling the deep black outside our borders, able to contact new allies and foil potential attempts by our adversaries to do things we dislike. This is also a golden opportunity to do ground-breaking science and discovery, in a ship far more capable of overcoming if it runs into trouble than a more narrowly-scoped science ship.

Ultimately what I'd like to see from this ship is somewhere in the S-A Rank for Tactical, and then somewhere in the B-C rankings for Science and Engineering, and I think we're well on our way to doing it.

I'm currently of the opinion that the Science Labs are nice and all, really they are, but they kind of distract from directly supporting this hull's primary role as a hunter-killer; unless they allow for SCIENCE!-ing the target/threat of the week, anyway. Then, I guess we could shrink-wrap pallets of stuff and cargo strap them to the walls of the saucer shuttle bay? I dunno *shrug*.

I think I'm fine if this ends up ferrying stuff / patrolling between border outposts and colonies after the war. If it's showing the flag and doing some outreach having more room for cultural exchange doesn't hurt either. Essentially I'm a fan of a varied and diverse logistics grid. You have your slow civilian boats, your faster train/construction units, and your quick semis as well.

It's not as good as the labs in case of a novel medical emergency but I'm okay with that. The labs could be useful or have synergy with the front modules so then winning would be fine as well. Right now though I'm thinking we might see computer and sensor options up there. A specialist lab would have to make a strong case in my book.

Edit: adding in the callout for an ice cream maker in the mess. It's not quite victory cigars, but it will be good for morale*.
