On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Well that was a vision trip alright. It looks like Snorri looked at potentially some memories from the Ancestors themselves? The mammoth one seems like it could be Morgrim. Picking Gazul in the last trial seemed to either let Snorri see too much and got mind blasted for it or it protected him so it was only a mind blasting and not a total knockout.

I think no matter how this trial ends, we need to tell Izril about the area because it's a better place to put their monument/temple thing than up in the hold since it seems close enough that the Ancestors can interact with people to a degree.

I suspect the Ancestors would be very unhappy to have this trial turned into a temple/runehall/whatever, otherwise they wouldn't have hidden it behind layers of riddles and access.

That brings the question: are quester who enjoy their character's suffering sadists or mazochists?
Depends on whether or not they self-insert.

You are doing gods work.

So, the second looked like Morgrim, was the third Grungi planning Azamar? Not sure if the first was another ancestor god or the daughter of Thungi/Morgrim, making it three generations of the family.
I think the first was Angkra. The grandmother would be Valaya in that case and the glowing door is probably rune inscribed so it's someone post runesmithing invention. The third I think is Thungni rather than Grungni because it mentioned multiple wives. I'm curious what challenges they gave up on though, it might be windsight/wind lore in general since they learned before they vanished.

If we assume that the person that spoke the hidden words in the last vision is the subject of the vision, then that'd support it being Thungni. Calling Gazul uncle is a pretty large hint.

We've got Light, Fire, Concealment, Spellbreaking, Warding, Courage, and then Stone to do. Quite possible we autopass some, like we did Cleaving.

It's looking like light is an autopass since there's no vote. If fire is testing offensive capability, which I think is reasonable since a different trial already made us tank a fire blast, that one might also be an easy pass thanks to skarren. Concealment I think can go either way, if Snorri's the one who has to hide something it'll be difficult. If we have to find something, the windsight eye should help with that. We're well suited to spellbreaking, though I'm curious how Thungni's going to test one's antimagic capability via runes since he can't fling direct spells at you. Warding and courage are likely not autowins and stone could be literally anything.

hmm Fire and Courage should be easypass with our equips.
Since Zhargall gives fire and BA gives mental buffs.
Spellbreaking too since Snorri is very good at anti magic

We are over half way yessssssss! Excellent.

And if BA is disabled again we still have Hearth and Home as a morale trait.

  • Stone.

Damn, we still have more than half to go? Not going to lie, this is just disheartening. This whole thing feels like something we are doing because Snori is a dwarf and Ancestor Good, not because there is anything here we the players specifically care about. At most it's a mystery box that we can hope contains something interesting or relevant, but still. The entirety of the Karak Dum expedition was nine parts and that was about treachery horror, mysteries and a broken god. We have had seven in this and we are seemingly not even halfway through.

Also keep in mind that this whole thing is a big giant clue in many ways.

And I don't think its just Thungni's hammer laying at the end of it.
