Use it to convince people we're actually telling the truth about having completely altruistic goals.
Soul-Touch Akiko to show her we really mean it when we say we're sorry about breaking her, we really believe she's a victim of Kyuubey's system, we really believe the Ishinomaki girls didn't kill Kato, and we really really enjoyed smashing her into the ground that one time.

Good times.

Right, but that does look sketchy from the outside.

"Look, I'm totally being straightforward here! Just let me shoot you up with my magic and then you'll understand!"

Plus, given the apparent focus on togetherness, I still suspect that the soul-intimacy just reflects the relationship that already exists. Not necessarily useful for convincing total strangers of things, even if it has fringe-case uses in communication between people who already have established relationships of some kind.

Okay I've seen two votes built for going there, but I have to ask: What are we actually doing at the homework session? Sure there's the Sayaka talk but, especially as appears in Onmur's vote, that doesn't really require us to be there and we don't have anything else we plan to do to take advantage of it.

The HDM parallel is a pretty good one, but now I wonder what would actually happen if people with more adversarial relationships tried soul-touching/magic-touching...

Or, in other words, is the apparent soul-snuggliness of the thing a natural consequence of the intimacy, or is it a reflection of how snuggly and intimate Sabrina and Mami already are with each other (and how snuggly they want to be)? If two meguca who hated each other touched their magic together, would they get a psychic impression of all of their worst moments and feelings towards each other? Et cetera.

And even more than that...
  • Is there any way at all to get this to work on muggles-? At least, can a muggle get an impression from a meguca?
  • If Madoka (as a muggle) got impressions from Homura, would those impressions extend to former timelines?
  • How deep is the mutual sharing-of-context?
Mmm, part of me vaguely thinks that there has to be some awesome exploit lurking behind the intimacy of the magic-sharing, beyond just "being able to extend our range via Mami's ribbons". But no, it still seems too situational and limited. Maybe a regimen of testing would pick something more up?

And I guess intimacy is a pretty awesome superpower anyways
As far as "getting this to work on muggles" goes, it occurs to me that while, IIRC, it's more familiar-like in structure, a witch's kiss is at least vaguely like an enchantment placed on a person. So you can definitely get mind affecting magic to work on normal folk.

Certainly we haven't yet tried physically enchanting someone's body (nor soul gem for that matter. Weapon depends on whether you count Mami's ribbon as being her weapon or being her magic.)

Well, we've got to help Mami with her homework; otherwise, just see that the Pleiades don't get bored too much. :p

... Would it be a faux pas to tell them about... heavy topics, like Walpurgisnacht, or about Kanna Hijiri?

Just to make sure I've got this in my head right, Souju Ayase is going to be coming this way via Asunaro, right? We ostensibly still have a bit of time, assuming our actions haven't advanced the timeframe Oriko saw, but maybe we should try to warn the Saints at some point that an abomination in Meguca skin is going to be sweeping through.

I know we try real hard to be friend to all, but seriously, what are we going to do with her?

Well, I'd have to re-read the relevant segment, but at the very least we should give the Pleiades all the information about the Soujus we can, if we can't hunt and de-gem them ourselves...

So late reply, but I saw this as equivalent to dæmon-touching from His Dark Materials*: literally coming into contact with someone's soul, in a way that is emotional intimacy of the highest order. While it may be done between couples, it's not sexual in any way (since it's is baring your soul, not body to another) and may also be done between parents and children, incredibly close non-romantic pairs, such as incredibly close sisters-in-arms. It's beautiful and emotionally moving.

* Someone really needs to get onto this crossover at some point.

It turns out Kyubey gets almost no contracts in this world because no one's comfortable with how the contract makes daemons turn into mindless rocks.

"Yeah," you confirm. "And one... uh, two more girls. Soujo Ayase and Luca." You form another model, of the twin-souled girl. Or possible single-bodied duo.

"Them," Oriko says, an annoyed tone in her voice. "They may come through Mitakihara in... two weeks."

You raise an eyebrow. "Hmm?" you say, interested. "Can you backtrack her, uh, them to Asunaro?" And isn't she supposed to die there? And how the hell are you supposed to refer to them, anyway?

Oriko purses her lips, regarding the model carefully, her Soul Gem beginning to bubble with Grief again. Her eyes slide shut, brow furrowing as she spreads her powers.

Eventually, she shakes her head, eyes opening. They're slightly glazed over. "Too far, too many events."
Mmm... Can't really know whether they'll go through Asunaro or not...

So there's a chance a meguca killer will randomly arrive at Asunaro any time before next Monday.

We can tell the Pleiades all the info we've got on her, including her being two people, how that makes her harder to put down, and how easy she goes for the kill.

But we'd like to be able to help more than that, right?

OK, reworking a bit and adding a questionable bit at the end.

Feel free to criticize, make new and different votes, and everything. ;)

[X] Clear the Seed and give it to the Pleiades. There's seven of them.

[X] Ask to join the homework session. You truants promise to not make a racket.

[X] But first, tell Kazumi and Sayaka to try and copy this:
-[X] Make a privacy sphere, and explain what it does.
-[X] Excuse yourselves and pull Sayaka inside. Metabomb her, and ask if there's anything she wants to tell you. Hint towards the Law of Cycles.
--[X] If the copying was successful, ask her to let Hitomi know, later. Madoka already knows.

[X] Homework session.
-[X] Help Mami with her homework.
-[X] Get Homura to help the others.
-[X] Ask with Umika about her writing.
-[X] When everyone's done, bring up the topic of revealing magic to the adults, and even using your magic in mundane businesses to raise funds to meguca care.

Also, I'd like to figure out some more specific phrasing than 'hint about the law of cycles'.

Why do we want to do this at all?
Because, if Sayaka is LoC Sayaka, and wanted to tell someone, she wouldn't be able to do it unless she was absolutely sure the information wouldn't get out.

It's a long shot, but we should provide the opportunity. Though, if she can copy the Privacy Sphere, she'll be able to tell anyone she wants. :p

Are we going to mention the magic sharing thing to the Pleiades?
Didn't they overhear all about it? :V

Is this really the best time to bring out the metabomb to Sayaka? The vote says we won't distract them from doing their homework, but dropping that on to her lap would be plenty distracting for Sayaka.

[X] Onmur

Not the most fond of revealing magic to adults... we'd want a pretty clear idea I think of how they'll react to LichBomb and the "forced into dangerous warlife" bit and everything (mitigated by Sabrina and Clear Seeds, but still). Also Kyubey feels like they've been super silent lately (or is it perception from update vs game-time passage?) and I don't know if thats reassuring or worrying... but after we seemed to have a pretty good moment of olive-branching with the camoflague SCIENCE I don't know that I want to poke it much harder about the masquerade? Likely comes down to why the incubators even care, and why they do seem to allow (and with telepathy facilitate) revealing to limited muggles. Is it that masquerade helps them to trick girls into contracting, and small scale its not enough of a problem compared to meguca goodwill?

Well, if we are ever to reveal magic to adults, we would ask our friends what they think, first.

And asking doesn't mean we do it, so I figure it's a safe thing to do.

Also, Shizuki parents might be some of the first adults we'd want to tell. Explain why Sayaka needed a new house, why Hitomi suddenly has 'friends' coming over from afar... since they're rich, they also might know ways we could use magic to raise funds for our future meguca empire to help meguca, or know people who know...

Also, they're not as involved as the other adults, and going by how they raised Hitomi, they probably can take the magic reveal rather well.

Are you sure you want to trust the Yakuza that far? :V Think about Homura's revenue stream :V

Wait meta bomb!?

Is anyone checking these votes? That's a pretty freaking serious talk that just got relegated to one line.

Its been getting discussed the past few updates, is it that surprising it got added again? We've told a few people already, and Sayaka's whole issue was her feeling left out... do wonder a bit how she'll feel having it randomly dropped on her during homework and not when we were trying to reassure her, but "waited till after Karaoke" seems defensible.
