Great. At this point, Torgarr needs some family to keep him from brooding too much.

He probably gets a decent bit of good-natured ribbing as being the runt of family.

@CoatRackRanger @Sirrocco

I think the three of us should focus on deforesting, our Earth, Plant, and Plow Kunnas should be very good at getting foliage out of the way.
Whenever farming is a reasonable choice, Torgarr will always farm.

So yes - land-clearing. Torgarr will use Earth Kenna to cause the land to vomit out its trees and stones (which can then be hucked elsewhere or collected as appropriate, leaving the overly large ones to his giant-blooded kin) and reshape itself when appropriate. Particularly ornery trees can get their roots reshaped out from under them.

He'll also keep an eye out for fruit trees, if there are any. He's hoping to have a chance to make fences and buildings out of living fruit trees, but he's going to need some seeds to start with to make that happen.

Njall redaxe would like to do some exploration. All his abilities are combat related so I'm not sure which group he should go with.
Definitely Ivor Lindholm. Dunno if anyone else was on board? A lot of people are probably asleep IRL right now or they might well join us.

Ah, in that case I'll join the East group, to provide a bit of extra combat power and scouting.

[X] Bjorn Bjarneson joins the East Scouting Group

Wait, wait, so what's going on?

I thought you guys were coming with me but now you're all leaving me to solo it?

I thought there was a general cap of 2 to 3 people per scouting group?

Which left the Social and Sewing guys going East, and you and Fighty Man going West, so in light of that I thought providing moderate combat support to the less combat aligned group would help make things safer?

Are any of the scouting parties interested in taking Agmundr along? He's got decent swordskill and can use a Hand Kunna trick to manipulate things at a distance, which might be useful if we encounter something weird.

Otherwise, he'll probably just be helping strip and plank the trees that the ground-clearing team rips down.

Is anyone in need of a navigator for sea scouting?

Edit: I want to scout out the coast anyone wanting to come?

North doesn't have any parties committed to it yet. It's ideal for each group to have a Seeing Eyes person in it, but if we don't have any, that's good to, probably shouldn't double-up though.

Thunder claps, drawing every eye skyward as the bird twists, spiraling away from where it thinks you're aiming. It fails, feathers flying as the bolt of lightning is too fast, too well aimed for it to manage a dodge.

Unfortunately, it seems the bird is made of tougher stuff than you expected as it seems to shake it off without too much in the way of damage.

It vanishes, disappearing from view in a puff of icy smoke.

What do you do?
I'm going to pepper area where it vanished with dozens of tiny lightning bolts to find where it's current location as I continue moving away from where it vanished.

Once I find it I'm going to burn two aspects and shoot it again with the heaviest hitting Lightning attack I have that I think has reasonable chance of hitting, (Adding Puncture if it needs to be said) feeding both Aspects into the shot. If that doesn't kill or cripple it I'm going to retreat ASAP.

[X] (Liv Sweetwater) After creating a source of drinkable water, Liv joins the effort of clearing the land. She'll keep an eye on the terrain, looking for hills or other features that might influence the planning of a settlement. During the clearing efforts Liv will use her kunna and knowledge to break up rock formations etc.

It occurs to me... it's not on the list this turn, but we'll want to get fairly heavy on buildignas soon as we can to get everyone out from under those boats. First off, living under boats isn't a pleasant experience, and second we have no shipbuilders, so the bit where they'll degrade and break if we leave them in place too long is kind of a big deal... especially when expeditions by ship are going to be important for getting in those specialists that we don't have.

I mean, it's not Torgarr's priority or anything, but it is something we'll want to get serious on next turn, I think.

In a puff of icy smoke, the bird reappears to your rear with an ice-bladed beak already in motion. Having teleported, there's no way for you to dodge in time before it takes you in the back of the neck while its talons rip your body asunder.

Clutched between the bird's talons, the last thing you see as it carries you off towards its mountain-nest is the faces of those you left behind.

You are dead, eaten by a bird.

Fortunately, as the settlement has a Seeress and a Shapecrafter, you will return upon winter. However, you are no longer able to do anything for this season.

Agmundr doesn't think he's up for scouting on his own, since he really doesn't have breadth of skills needed for it.

[X] Agmundr will help move and process the trees being cut by the ground-clearing team.
