Gunnar Toad-Terror, ready to join the Fighting Line, Hersir. I have that Tetsubo for repelling the Goliath's projectiles, and smashing them to little pieces afterwards. Not that heavy for me if I just lighten gravity around them, either.

I'm currently thinking of putting you in a Push group with Grid, Liv, and Gunnar (and probably some others) right at the corner of teh fortifications between sea and land...I'm thinking you start out targeting the land group, but pivot when the sea group attacks. You'd be supplied with Aspect Refills for this purpose.
I think is a better use of my powers. BTW I burned NO aspects during my outing. We decided against using any flashy moves and did the spec-ops takedowns. My main concern had been my limited staying power but with that assurance. VALO IS RARING TO FIGHT!

Alright so, as a rough outline I'm thinking about 5 FLGs:

#1: Frontliner Push
#2: Frontliner Hold
#3: Pivot (this is the Grid/Gunnar/Liv group I'm intending to put in the corner)
#4: Seaside Hold
#5: Relay Killers (the group of Moli Spotlight and some of our best archers sniping relays)

The difference between Push and hold is a bit wishy washy here, though, as the intent is not to leave the fortress, just kill them as they come (or at range). Well, unless they run or something. It's intended less as a 'move here' and more as a 'focus on offense' vs. 'focus on defense'.

Then we'll have Relief and Reserves of course.

Yeah, the water supply is so you can go hard at the land forces and still be at full strength when you pivot.

In actual Iron Age warfare, barring elevated terrain, skirmishers normally began battle in the frontline

It's actually quite hard to shoot through your friends!
We have magic accuracy and buildings I can stand on top off.

Maybe I should of built a tower instead of shields.

Honestly best part of this invasion is the sheer amount of bone meal we'll have afterward. We won't be going hungry for a while after we win.

Also maybe 5 for me if I can manipulate an arrow in flight with wood kunna.

Eirny is best fit for offensive actions, though she'd love to try fighting the cavalry just because she's never fought anything like cavalry before.

Njal Ulfson would work well with 2, plant kunna is good for stationary work.

Thorgarr is also better at #2, for similar reasons, and likes the idea of fighting alongside his kinsman.

He's not particularly well-suited for fighting against Goliaths though - better at wide-area effects against hordes of skeletons..

Run to Dig

Harald storms around Ragnarr's home, having just finished relaying Ragnarr's orders to what few of the construction crew he had been able to find in the day's chaos, knocking over miscellaneous household goods and someone's dinner as he grabs all of his tools and every bit of scrap wood and rope he can find.

Tying them into a loose bundle, his hands slip as the bundle falls to his feet.

"Ymir's Balls!"

"We'll work more on your knotwork this Winter, listen well and you'll be ready to join a raid by Summer after next"

Harald curses the Jomsvikings once more for stealing half of his father's lessons from him and frantically bends to tie the bundle before running out the door, leaving his brace of javelins where he had dropped them on the floor.

He comes into his stride, cursing the cruel and uncaring advance of the sun across the sky, before he stops for a moment where he had left the two rough cut tree trunks he had collected on the way at the crossroads.

Well, cross-"these two game trails we found", anyway.

Harald lashes his bundle of supplies to the trunks, throwing the rest of the vine-rope they had in the house around the lot and tugging it twice as long as he wanted to to make sure it was tight, before throwing it all over his shoulder and resuming his sprint south.

"A battle is not like a duel, or a hunt, or a sparring match. Of those, it is most like a hunt and most unlike a duel. In battle, one can do one's best only if one intends to spend oneself and tempt the Norns. Spend the effort that must be spent to secure the objective, and no more. The smarter duelist will lose to the faster duelist, but nothing defeats the smarter warrior but Fate or numbers."

*There's a half days work and a fight after this run Harald, Slow down, be smart, not fast*

Harald slows, first to a trot and then to a walk, as he eyes a hill he was running around that sloped gently up but which he knew fell sharply to the south.

*Fight....smart*

Harald looks slowly between the hill, the ground at his feet, and logs on his shoulder.

*This...will either work, or I'll break my neck and nobody will find out how and everyone will assume the Skeletons got me...FUCK IT, I ride!*

Harald resumes his run, straight up the hill. With each footfall, the Soil rises up to meet him. With each kick off the ground dirt beneath his feet is kicked up into big arches impacting the logs behind him. The dirt doesn't fall off the logs, but following his will clumps to them and covers the bottom in an even layer. As he runs, he feels the dirt on the logs as it becomes less and less of the Land and more and more His.

As he reaches the crest of the hill andand notes the sharp slope before him he leaps, putting the logs beneath him and using control over the soil under and between the logs to keep him right side up and align the logs with the slope, landing in a slide as His Soil interfaced the ground he was running over.

Harald lets out a whoop as he continues to accelerate down the hill.

*Aw troll puke, nobody's gonna believe this...how am i gonna slide past those rocks*

He wasn't going to, that was the neat part, but it was still faster even after he had to lash his logs and tools back together, especially once you considered all the time saved stripping bark off halfnthe logs.

At least that's what he told himself.

Front Line unless Relief is undercooked. I'm a pretty solid wrestler with a good sense for what needs to be done, I've got swordplay going for me too but that might not be the best choice against skellingtons.

#2: Frontliner Hold
#3: Pivot (this is the Grid/Gunnar/Liv group I'm intending to put in the corner)

Harald requests one of these two positions, with a slight preference to Pivot of the two, but he has no reason why besides a blush.

He is willing to serve in the front line, but believes he's better suited for one of the other two positions.

He requests to not be posted on the beach, as his Martial Style is more effective on Soil than on sand.

So, here's the tentative plan, based on the idea above. If I've missed anybody, please let me know, if you have issues with your positioning also please let me know, but I may ignore you depending on your argument.

Group #1 (Mostly Ranged Offense, Main Wall): [Skuli Draugrhater][Ragnarr Fair-Spoken][Sigmund Sigurdson][Brynjar Bonespear][Alyssa Worldwalker][Agmundr Idskapadr]
Group #2 (Defense, Main Wall): [Erik Hardhead][Akali Nightsong][Rikard Villeson][Njal Ulfson][Torgarr Villagefeeder][Harald Logarson][Gefjosa Aslaugsdottir]
Group #3: (Ranged and Other Offense, Corner) [Fernweh Engenweiss][Eirny Khairesdottir][Gunnar Toad-Terror][Liv Sweetwater][Grid Frostdottir][Valo Halvarson]
Group #4: (Defense, Sea-Facing Wall)[Ivor Name-Giver][Anja Giantbone][Njall Redaxe][Dyri Seaborne][Bjorn Bjornsson]
Group #5: (Ranged Specialists, Relay Killing Team)[Oddr Gunnwaldson][Kare Sky-Dancer][Moli Spotlight][Bjorn Drakeslayer][Steinarr Stonelicker][Amerion Wardson]

Relief: [Erik Olsen][Amlóði Hårekson][Hrósvior Stigandsson][Gudrun ???dottir][Hulfr][Ingrunn][Krakr Gudrunson][Arnleif Whistler][Vatn Galtison]

Reserves: [Ake Silverleaf][Agnes Olsen][Lindjorn Torbholm][Runa Venomtongue][Ingegärd Svæindottir][Katla Hrafndottir][Unnur Clean]

Specific Notes:

1. Erik Olsen is the one combat-capable NPC in the village other than the Jarl. He is Agnes husband and has Axe 2 and Shield 2. I have him in the reserves to provide a pinch hitter who can join anyone having trouble without having to slot in a PC.
2. Arnleif Whistler, @CedeTheBees your specific job is to act as a backup Relay Detector for Group #5. Hide behind them and do that if Moli falls or can't do so any more...I bet you can use Music Kunna to impart info on where Relays are.

Harald requests one of these two positions, with a slight preference to Pivot of the two, but he has no reason why besides a blush.

He is willing to serve in the front line, but believes he's better suited for one of the other two positions.

I have you in Group #1 rather than Group #3 for that very reason. The point of the Pivot Group is to shift from fighting the main army to fighting the cavalry when they arrive, which will be on sand. So you're not best placed there, but I want you on offense since I think that's probably good. I can probably shuffle you to Group #2 if you want, though.

Reserves: [Vatn Galtison][Ake Silverleaf][Agnes Olsen][Lindjorn Torbholm][Runa Venomtongue][Ingegärd Svæindottir][Gefjosa Aslaugsdottir][Katla Hrafndottir]
Torgarr does not wish to be in the reserves. His kunna are a lot more useful at snaring and disrupting than they woudl be at fast response, and benefit from a prepared ground. He wishes to serve beside his kinsman Njal, and he feels kind of bitter about these skeletons traipsing across his land. He does not want to be stuck in the rear.

Torgarr is in the Relief force, not the Reserves, but point taken. Lemme fiddle a bit.
