Didn't we get the ability to create twist as soon as we got Hugr 7?

No. Hugr has nothing to do with it, as soon as we tried infusing Odr into a Twist we figured out that, in theory, we could change or make them that way. The issue is that we don't actually know how to do it. We have all the tools to make Twists, or at least adjust existing ones, we just don't know how to use them...but we really and profoundly don't know how to use them.

We should definitely learn this btw. These are massive bonuses that, while not usable in every fight, would make life or death struggles against superior opponents more survivable. A great move to pull out against the final boss of our life.

Edit: Like, if this works how I think it does, I think we'd end up with 7 more shapeshifting slots, 6 DR, 6 bonus damage... that's a lot of stuff.

Oh absolutely. Hooknails went from death's door to sending us running for our lives when he used it.

We'd actually gain no less than 18 Shapeshifting slots as well as DR 7 and +7 damage. It's wild. The down sides are immense, but we probably do want it...if we ever get the opportunity to learn it.
