I will also request that you limit yourselves to things that Halla would know of

So far, we already were, for the record, but yeah, that's totally fair.

I think these are little more polished

As good as those are, they're distinctive and from a popular published work

I just thought of something, a potential issue with this course of action, how is Heklr going to guess? Like, when you make a guess, it can be answered, when Heklr makes a guess...? I dunno

I mean, you can guess and one or more of us can confirm or deny? I could do it.

It can be anything or everything
We all know it's name and nature
Anyone can evoke it with words
Yet us here disdain what it is

What is it?

Mine were? Dayum.

We can probably quote the relevant spoilerbox with the correct answer.

I've always liked this one:

He who built it doesn't need it
He who buys it doesn't use it
He who uses it doesn't know it

(A coffin)

And after a brief look into it, coffins were sometimes used in this era, especially in Norway, so it's a valid choice.

I like that one. Might want to fiddle with the wording very slightly...but I like it.

I was referring to alexanderthealright's. Yours were also good, but those were the ones I was referring to there.

Yeah, that seems legit.

Usualy the best way to win a riddle competition is to pick a riddle with multiple answers, and then retroactively pick which one is the right one.

This is a way to say you won a riddle contest, not to get the other party to acknowledge your victory. If the Jotunn decides we didn't win, then we didn't win. He has all the power.

We can trick him, but it needs to be the kind of trick where he admits afterwards 'Yeah, you got me.' not 'My answer was just as good.'

Personally.. I think that's cheating. If there's another valid answer it should be valid still even if you didn't consider it.

Now, it would be different if your answer is unambiguously the most 'correct'.

Woven every moment
All-Knowing
More Final than Fated Days
Unchanging
Herald of Glory and Shame
All-Seeing

It was there when Askr and Embla were given life,
It will be there when Ragnarok has come and gone.

We chart our path through it's tempestuous tides,
We take their words as guide to speech and deed.

What is it, I speak of?

(Answer: History)

Agreed.

That one's a bit too obvious, I think.

Inspired by a much shorter riddle I found:

I can take all a man has, or grant him all he desires
I can end feuds or start them, make paupers of the rich or a rich man of a pauper
Yet men are my hands and my will, and my word is done only by them
Few want to have me yet all fear to lose me once they do

What am I?

(A lawsuit)

[X] Challenge him to a game or contest of your choosing
-[X]"Who can come closest to touching the Sun"

The riddle challenge is generic, and has some annoying logistic problems with the quest format and everything. The touch the sun idea someone else had just fits the character more, and is a lot more original.

This is how we get our Sunfire hugareida.

I'm pretty sure we flatly lose this contest, is the big problem here. The Jotun can almost certainly fly, and do so for free via shapeshifting into a bird, while our flight costs us Orthstirr and is thus limited in duration. He will just beat us in a 'who can get highest' contest.

If we face a minor god in a physical contest we are going to lose.

HARD

I think we should engage in a lawsuit. That's a type of contest right?

We'd need someone to be the judge and jury. Also, this guy definitely doesn't care about the law. I don't see a way that works logistically, unfortunately.

Actually...I think that means we'd get a Speaking Out Of Law progression for beating him? Well, for getting him to agree to a contest anyway. That'd be cool.

If he agreed to the lawyering contest then we would both need to proceed to the next/closest Thing and present our arguments before the judges.
We don't have any unbiased judges

Small correction, Jotnar are proper, capital G Gods. These aren't your local forest or streams, no siree, these are entities capable of creation and destruction at mind boggling scales.

I'm sorry so is this guy more a mini Thor or is he something Blackhand could have killed?
