While I very much enjoy the idea of battling you folks in a contest of riddles, I'm not sure how you're going to go about riddling as a group when I'm, you know, reading the workshopping.

If this is what you'd like to do, then I recommend challenging the Jotun to flyting/viking rap battle

Voting is now open

Fair enough. Though there are solutions to that involving spoiler tags and stuff...

Here's my vote:

[X] Challenge him to a game or contest of your choosing
-[X] Specifically, challenge him to a contest of riddles or something involving wordplay like a flyting
-[X] If that option is unavailable, try a needlework contest

EDIT: Changed vote later after some confirmation.

Then it turns out he has a Masters in Divinity. Gotta keep yourself entertained when you're immortal.

This is one reason I like riddle contest as an option. It could incorporate bible knowledge into our riddles, so we can take advantage of this, but go another way mid contest if he's familiar.

Oof, no Riddle Contest then, but we can do a flyting!

We just, uh, need to kick all the ass.

He's immortal, so patience seems risky...in terms of luck, that's likely Hamingja and ours is only okay as compared to powerful people. I wouldn't risk it.
Pure hamingja?
Yeah don't risk it.
Hamingja+help from relevant gods (like Odin, who wants us to win)?
Sounds much better.

Riddling sounds plausible too.

Or communication outside the Thread.
How big can group pm get?
Or a separate discord? (Bad because discord, but theoretically possible)

This is also a good time if anyone's got any Reward Dice up their sleeves to start spending them as required here!

I think forging is the best bet, anything physical is a nonstarter, and IF has pointed out the problem with stuff like riddles.

Hm, relying on dice rolls seems unwise, and I'm not really of fan of flyting since I don't understand what the metric for victory would be for that.

What would a tie result in, in terms of how Heklr would treat us?

Here are the ideas I just have to propose

The riddles of Bilbo and Gollum

Gollum:
What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees,
Up, up it goes,
And yet never grows?

[A mountain]

Bilbo:
Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.

[Teeth]

Gollum:
Voiceless it cries,
Wingless flutters,
Toothless bites,
Mouthless mutters.

[Wind]

Bilbo:
An eye in a blue face
Saw an eye in a green face.
"That eye is like to this eye"
Said the first eye,
"But in low place,
Not in high place."

[The sun]

Gollum:
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.

[Dark]

Bilbo:
A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

[An egg]

Gollum:
Alive without breath,
As cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking,
All in mail never clinking.

[Fish]

Bilbo:
No-legs lay on one-leg,
two-legs sat near on three-legs,
four-legs got some.

[Fish on a table,
man on a stool,
cat gets the scraps]

Gollum:
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

[Time] [/SPOILER][/Time]

A Man of spreading seeds.
Traveler of the Middle Sea.
Savior of not quite fine trees.
Who am I?
The obvious and incorrect answer is Steinarr, the real answer is Paul the Apostle
